As a solo traveller I had no intention of using the hotel for any more than a place to sleep. The lobby was nicely decorated and cozy as was the sky bar lounge. The staff truly stood ask. Not only did they remember me by name after the first day but they also provided excellent restaurant recommendations. The room had a unique shower by American standards (re: retractable shower guard and squeegee but I quite liked the space efficient design. Beds were comfortable and the black out curtain provided darkness regardless of the weather outside.

We have stayed in some small rooms on our travels but without doubt this was the smallest, there was room for a bed and that was about it. One of the key selling points of the hotel is its views (which are impressive from the sky bar) but our room had a tiny sliver of a window, which gave the room an even smaller feel to it. I am also not the tallest, but my feet were sticking out the end of the bed. We spoke to the reception as we had an upgrade on the package, but the hotel was full.

The hotel is nice enough, and a short walk to all the sights. The breakfast is average, but the room we had really ruined our stay.

Iceland however is a fantastic country and we would fully recommend a visit, we are thinking of coming back to see things we missed, but we will not be staying in the Arnarhvoll.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of November and the location is fantastic with amazing views across the water and close to all shops , restaurants - recommend Hornid steak restaurant , great meal , not expensive for what you get , great food - The only down side of the hotel for us was the room was very small with a very small window but we decided not to upgrade as the room had everything we needed for a 3 night stay and was very clean and all we needed it for was to sleep , shower and dress . The staff are outstanding and very knowledgeable. Just ask what you need to know at reception and if they can help , they will . What astounded us most was the fact that our pick uptime was changed at short notice to 3.30am and they had hot croissants , fresh coffee and orange juice at reception for us . My husband was extremely impressed as he stays in many 5 star hotels with his work and said that was above and beyond the expectation for any Hotel . I would like to thank all the staff for making our stay a happy and memorable one . We will defineatley stay there next visit , just not through secret escapes . Many thanks for making our stay memorable .

We were privileged to have stayed a few nights here in Centerhotel Arnarhvoll after being upgraded from an overbooked hotel. We arrived early in the morning and our room was ready despite of the early check-in. We stayed on the 7th floor with an amazing view of the Harpa, Reykjavik's beautiful Opera House just across the street (Tip: Night time view is a visual treat). The Saebraut, the modern part of Reykjavik and with Solfar (Sun Voyager sculpture) and the Esja mountain can be seen in the distance. We were told Yoko Ono has a $2.5 million apartment in the area facing the same view. This was a surprise bonus as we didn't know where the hotel was at the beginning. The hotel is also located within walking distance to the Old Harbor where most of the tour operators are, Reykjavik shopping streets and fine restaurants. Our package offered free breakfast buffet is served from 7-10 a.m. on the 8th floor dining area also known as the Sky Lounge and bar (Tip: In the evening the bar is open from 5pm, serving cocktails and Viking beer). The breakfast buffet spread is wonderfully stocked with fresh fruits, crackers, breads, homemade jams, freshly baked granola bars, eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, coffee, tea, orange juice. The lounge area, has a open balcony for outdoor dining (though closed in winter can be accessed anytime). Similarly, you can get a good photo op here without the room window barriers. The rooms are nice and clean, though a bit small. They offer free Internet (via Wi-Fi connection). If you want to charge your electronics, it is best to get a European AC power plug since the sockets have a different shape. Mind you, also the voltage is 220V so if your USA adapters are not compatible, they will be torched. The staff are very courteous, friendly and helpful with information and requests. They helped us make bookings to tours and showed us directions to nearby Reykjavik attractions and amenities. When in Reykjavik, try to book this hotel and experience a wonderful stay and hospitality, million dollar views and easy access to Iceland shopping, dining and fun!

Room Tip: Get a top floor room with a view, facing the sea.

Centerhotel Arnarhvoll is a very well located hotel. The city centre is walking distance (3 minutes), Grayline tours (2min walk), Harpa music hall is directly opposite as is the sea! We stayed in room 706 and if im honest, I think this is the best room in the hotel. Its on the 7th floor (top floor for rooms) and its a corner room so we had the sea view from one side of the room and Harpa music hall and harbour from the other.

Breakfast is very adequate and has a good selection. Reception staff friendly...check in and check out took less than a minute. I'd definitely stay here if I visited again. There are some other good hotels but do they offer the same view? no! and to be honest, Reykjavik isn't massive so nothing is far.

Room Tip: Room 706 - top floor corner room - view of sea on side and harbour/harpa music hall on the other. Go...

I stayed here for a week in a harbour view deluxe double room on my second trip to Iceland this year (you can look at my reviews to see where I stayed the first trip!)
the Arnarhvoll was clean, staff were all very nice, and the location is great.
I've stayed at a lot of hotels, and I would say this is a very nice budget level hotel. The breakfast is okay, with a selection of items for a vegetarian like myself. The room seemed a little worn (but clean mind you), and a few lightbulbs were burned out, or just not working - will never know as they were never fixed during our stay. Only mentioned the lights to the staff once, though, since we spent most of our time out of the hotel room.
The first night there, I could hear a man in the next room over snoring all night. It's a hotel, so that can be expected, but note that the walls are a wee bit thin (or I suppose the man next door could just have an abnormal/serious snore problem!)
There is a €40 fee for early check in, which also includes access to breakfast.
The wifi is free, which is a definite plus.
I would probably stay here again, especially if on a limited budget, despite the few things mentioned that maybe sound like negatives.

Great hotel located beside the Harpa concert hall at the water's edge.. 5 minute walk to shopping streets and restaurants. Very friendly staff and a great spa in the basement with geothermal hot tub, steam room and sauna..free robe and slippers if you have a deluxe room. Room is a good size, comfy bed, heated floor and nice bathroom. 8th floor sky restaurant serves breakfast with a view of the Harpa light show wall and full meals and drinks...there are even cosy blankets for you if you want to sit outside. Couldn't ask for more...great hotel. Room 701 is good!
