The hotel was in the perfect position for sightseeing in Reykjavik, close to all the amenities and restautants. Our room was quite small but did have all the facilities for a short city break, and was more than compensated by the Sky Lounge and Bar on the 8th floor, with superb views over the harbour and snow capped mountains.BUT -you do need to take advantage of the HAPPY HOUR from 5.00 pm to 7.00pm.Unfortunately the menu is not a full A La Carte, but does offer a lighter menu and breakfast is excellent.

Our Iceland trip was truly awesome! I'd like to first say the our travel agent from Gate 1 travel took care of us really well. We were given an itinerary that was convenient for us. We were also provided an itinerary, vouchers for our whole trip, helpful instructions and useful information. Everything was carefully planned out. We never felt like we did not know what was going to happen next. I would definitely schedule another trip with them again and recommend them to everyone. The price was also reasonably priced.

Our hotel location was right in front of the Atlantic Ocean and Mt. Esja. It was a magnificent view! Our hotel had its own spa and bar! All the receptionists were sooo patient and sooo helpful! The tours were always on time. Breakfast was great, but I wish they offered something different everyday.

Spent 4 nights in room 605 which is a compact room but very clean and functional with a narrow window looking over the theatre building which is all lit up at night and the harbour. The sky bar on the 8th floor is great for happy hour 5-7 500 kronas a large beer £2.60ish I think and great views over the sea and mountains and breakfast is good. The menu in the evening in the bar is snacks. We booked trips with discover Iceland in jeeps which were a great experience and would recommend Restaurant Hofnin recommended by our tour guide in which we had two very good meals. Overall I would recommend this hotel for great value, Great location and views and very helpful staff.

Amazing views over water and only 5 minutes walk into centre. The staff were all very helpfull and efficient. Breakfast good with lots of choice. Rooms a bit small but adequate. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the sea.

Before arriving in Iceland we didn't really know what to expect as our stay at the Arnarhvoll hotel was organised through a holiday package. The hotel room was quite basic, but boasted an amazing view over looking the sea and snow capped mountains. The room was also more than adequate for our stay and very clean. The spa area was well equipped and we were provided with robes and fresh towels, however the water in the jacuzzi area didn't seem very clean and did put us off of using it during our stay.

A main selling point of the hotel is without a doubt it's positioning right on the harbour and it's sky bar. Breakfast was served every morning in the bar overlooking the harbour and on our last night we were lucky enough to see the northern lights while drinking cocktails! The bar and reception staff are a huge credit to this hotel. Everybody was very friendly and really helped to make our stay an enjoyable one. I would definitely recommended this hotel to others.
