“Wonderful hotel, excellent, friendly staff”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Situated downtown directly opposite the relatively new Harper building and the seafront, very easy walking distance to the centre for sightseeing and shopping but also very close for any whale watching tours etc. The staff were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and did everything they could to make our stay a pleasant one.
The bedrooms may not have the nicest views, some were lucky and had sea views but others only had the car park to look at, however the rooms have everything you need, modern and minimalistic but with great facilities. Very comfortable beds, flat screen TV showing BBC and ITV channels, hairdryers and excellent showers (the bath was a bit small). Very pleasant decor.
Breakfast on the top floor was selection of cereals, fruits, yoghurts, breads and cakes, boiled eggs, cheeses, bacon, sausages etc etc a very good selection and a wonderful place to sit and have breakfast with the breathtaking views over the harbour. Excellent hotel and we will be returning later in the year.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms can be requested but not guaranteed. Lower floor rooms are slightly noisier than the...

Weekend visit to Reykjavik and stayed here in room 512 with superb views over the bay and to majestic mountains. Small but perfectly adequate room. No real storage, just minimal shelving. No drawers or wardrobe, just hanging rail. Fine for a weekend but maybe not for longer. Bathroom very good. Everything worked. Tea and coffee making facilities, fridge / minibar and a safe. Hotel staff at reception very helpful and many thanks to Andrea for booking us restaurants. Did over hear other people much less satisfied with noise at night. Hotel does directly overlook a dual carriageway, but this is Iceland - it's hardly busy! But otherwise the location is great and you can walk around central Reykjavik in a day anyway. Main Street with shops and bars only a few minutes walk from this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask to look over the bay.

Very conveniently located directly opposite the sea and just down the hill from the 'Bustle' of the city centre, this hotel is in an excellent location. The room was very comfortable with well designed bathroom, comfortable bed and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast in the Sky lounge on the top floor was excellent too.
The reception staff went out of their way to recommend and book restaurants for us, which was much appreciated.
Some tips on Reykjavik: It's not a big place but there are plenty of very good restaurants and bars. The bars have happy hours throughout the day - we paid about £5 for two large beers (pints). Restaurants are London prices, depending on the standard, but the wine lists start out at around £30 a bottle! No need to take any cash, just a good no foreign fee debit/credit card. Everyone in Iceland uses them, even for postcards! If you do need local cash, the ATMs charge a small fee.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor overlooking the sea for a great view.

This was a little over a year ago, I just realized I never wrote the review.
(I went MARCH 2013...)

This hotel is so cozy!
You eat breakfast on the "roof", with an amazing view. I will never forget that view. Of course the breakfast itself was amazing as well. (I think there's a bar there at night.. I never went..)
The rooms are clean and feel luxurious.
Comfortable beds.
The hotel also has a spa.
Great location, too!
And very friendly, helpful staff.

It's really easy to take the bus if you want to go someplace further away.

I would really recommend people going to Iceland. I kind of like going to warmer countries the most, but I will never regret going to Iceland. I might go again, in the summer.. :)

We booked this hotel as part of a Jetline, Secret escapes package. The hotel is just a 5 minute, easy walk to the centre of Reyjavik town where you can shop, visit cafes and churches and get some food (like soup in sour dough bread). It is also really close to a strip of happy hour pubs, bars and restaurants (recommend downloading "appy hour'' app from itunes). For dinner and drinks we didn't need to take a taxi, we just walked everywhere.

We got to the hotel via organised bus transfer which I think you can just buy at the airport and i would say that is the cheapest and easiest way to get here.

The ROOMS were quite small, but they had everything we needed, especially given we didn't have a lot of luggage with us. Further, the hotel SPA was really nice to wind down in after a day exploring beautiful Iceland! There was a hot bath, sauna and steam room. The BAR was also quite nice at the top of the hotel and well worth a visit in happy hour for beer and wine. We even were lucky enough to see the NORTHERN LIGHTS from the hotel one evening (the hotel offer a wake up service if they should show themselves). On the subject of sleep, I should mention that I didn't really sleep brilliantly on any of the 3 nights because I could always hear people in the hallways!!

TOURS...From the hotel we took a tour to around the Golden circle (Geysirs, waterfalls and national park) and then to the Fontana steam bath where we could relax in the natural springs and also taste bread that had been cooked in the ground... We also went on a northern lights tour (they simply drive you to a darker spot where you can hopefully see the lights depending on your luck (you can look up the forecast for aurora borealis online) and then of course the Blue Lagoon (personally I would do this after you're picked up at the airport on route to the hotel- you're already halfway there)... The buses all had wifi and all the tours are great! They can be booked in town or online (we used Reykjavik Excursions) and I will hopefully return one day to see the Puffins, walk a glacier and also go snow biking!!

Simply love Iceland and this hotel offers a great base,at a reasonable rate to explore everything that is awesome in Iceland!!

We were on 7th floor with windows on both corner walls giving a great view of water and opera house. I was a little worried when I saw lace curtains and we were there over the summer solstice! No worries, though, as the room darkening shades did the trick. Bed was comfortable. The roof top lounge was cozy and afforded the opportunity to meet other travelers. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor for the best view.
