Comfortable beds after tiring journey can help you rest and get some energy. Delicious breakfast, good coffe served by nice hosts make this place unique. Cleaned rooms, towels and piece of chocolate are provided while checking in.

This is a guest house (not to be confused with a hotel). We were a small company of three and stayed 5 nights. We arrived at noon first day and could leave our luggage at Alba while taking a walk and having lunch in Reykjavik (check-in after 3 pm).

We received a friendly (albeit a little reserved) hospitality. We got help when we asked, to book a taxi for instance.

It was clean and nice. Toilets and bathroom were fine, even if shared with others (it is up to each guest to leave it just as nice). Good wifi-connection, even in our room.

We stayed in room 105, basement floor, with three large windows facing the garden. It was nice, four beds in a spacious room. Quiet part of the house, even though we could hear if someone took a shower.

Good walking distance (20–30 minutes) to the central parts of Reykjavik. Close to the bus terminal and central public bath. Closest bus stop is Klambratún, where you can take bus to central Reykjavik.

We brought take-away food and had dinner in the 'breakfast room' every eve. There is a recycle station just outside Alba for garbage (in addition to the small bin on the room).

Felt like we stayed in someone's home as guests, with a nice breakfast every morning (7–9 am). We had to leave early (6.30 am) the last day and were happy to get something to eat before leaving (after kindly letting our hostess know our early departure one day in advance).

The only remark is the poor ventilation, which is solved with open windows. Therefore it can be chilly in the evenings. Also, as we were there during low season, I can imagine it will be more crowded at breakfast during high season.

To sum up, a nice place to stay if you want a comfy bed, a proper breakfast and walking distance to central Reykjavik.

(But, if you expect the comfort of a hotel, then I recommend you to stay at a hotel).

Hope this was helpful for your future choice of accommodation in Reykjavik!

Room Tip: Can recommend room number 105 if you are 3 or 4 people.

The price was very good for Reykjavík, this Guesthouse is a 15 min walk to the main area. My room was clean, comfy bed, very warm at night and dark curtains. The breakfast was very good with great coffee or tea, rolls or bread and a choice of cereals with a selection of fruit juices. It was shared bathrooms, which were two on my floor. No real wait time to use them. You have to remember it’s not a hotel but a guesthouse.

Loved the Alba although very expensive as is everywhere and everything in Reykjavík. Decent sized rooms and excellent hot water. Internet was good and beds very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent position right in the centre of town and everything is within walking distance. If we went back to Iceland we would definitely stay there again. This is very unlikely as the country is far too expensive for us.

When I searched for a place to stay in Reykjavik, this was the cheapest available before you got into shared dorms. As such I didn't expect the Ritz, and the place didn't disappoint. The owner is reserved but friendly, the rooms are clean if a little faded. Bathroom similarly, it wasn't tip top clean but as a shared bathroom it was perfectly usable. And the breakfast was really excellent each day. Refillable cafatiere of coffee, and a buffet spread of cold meats, cheese, cereal, skyr, juices, artisan breads and so on. As a place to rest your head between days in the great Icelandic outdoors, I'd recommend this to anyone.
