Found this restaurant from the good trip advisor reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Food was creative but clearly Icelandic and we enjoyed trying some really different but delicious flavours. The service was good and the ambiance was really nice. Would recommend for sure.

My wife and I had a pleasant time at Matur og drykkur.
We enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere,favorable service,delicious dishes,etc.
We ordered and shared Fish Tartare,Halibut soup,Cod's head, etc.
Everything was good and especially,Cod's head cooked in chickenstock and blueberries
was wonderful,including its appearance.
Its taste was somewhat similar to Japanese boiled fish seasoned with soy sauce.
Total cost was reasonable.(around 10,000 ISK except for drinks)
We walked between our hotel and the restaurant at evening.
The seawind was strong and very cold even though it was late April.
It became our good memory because of wonderful dinner.

I did some research and reserved this spot and couldnt be happier. We went to Artson for cocktails before and the bartender recommended this place so I felt like a happy nerd. Thomas (sp?) was great and gave us tons of suggestions for the rest of our trip. Just absolutely delicious food and we laughed so much with staff. It was a great night.

I visited with my daughter after a long day of doing the Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon tour. We had the two tasting menus, I had Sea my daughter the Land. Be very prepared to eat a lot of food. Unlike other tasting menus we have had, the portions here were enormous! Stand out courses were the cod and the lamb broth but honestly it was all rather good.

The only things we didn’t truly enjoy was the bitter lemon sorbet and the cacao soup. I think there was too much sorbet as the flavour was too intense for our palate and we just didn’t enjoy the bitterness in the cacao as we don’t enjoy the dark chocolate taste.

All of the staff were attentive and pleasant and we both would recommend this lovely place and would return.

good service, high quality ingredients, added cod head into the menu although it wasn't on it. Only the desert was a bit disappointing. It is recommendable to try the menu because it is so special but be prepared to eat a lot.
