“Great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

Located within walking distance of the city center. This is a great base for exploring the city . Hotel provided a shuttle or bus passes for quick access to the center of town, although the walk was pleasant even in the winter. Rooms very clean, great view of the mountains and easy access to optional tours should you want to take any.

Room Tip: Front of the hotel has best views.

Perfect base for a trip to Iceland. I was worried it would be too far out of town but it was just right - I walked a few times when it was not too cold or dark and a taxi back was reasonably priced. Good, safe hotel for a solo female traveller. I had a single room which was still big. I had heard it was a great night's sleep there and wow - yes it was. The staff and local information person were great, really helpful. The hotel has a contemporary and laidback feel to it. Breakfast wasn't included but I had it one morning and it was very decent. Would recommend staying here as a Reykjavik base if you don't need to be right in the centre. Good diverse mix of guests.

Hilton Nordica Hotel, could be a great hotel, but lacks some of personal touchs that we Americans/Canadians have come to expect.
Examples’, it the room there is a card tell you about the “Executive Lounge.” It states that snacks are available all day. All day is only the hours that the “Executive Lounge” is open, which in itself is very confusing. The card states that it opens at 6:30 AM, wrong, it really opens at 7:00 AM. I once called the front desk and was told that it opened at 6:00 AM.
It is important to add that this “Executive Lounge” has probably one of the best views of Reykjavik and is an extremely comfortable lounge.
When we arrived we were struggling with our luggage. Help was offered from a young lady behind the front desk. I do realize that she was not a bellman, but…. It took us two days to figure out how to work the heat and turn the light on over the chairs. These are things that should have been told to us once into the room. The task of bell person is not complete until the guests are comfortable (even though a tip is not expected we did tip handsomely).
One morning I was awake just before 6:00 AM and going along with the card in the room snacks and drinks (coffee) were supposed to available all day – wrong. As stated, it was not all day, but rather only “Executive Lounge” hours. I went downstairs to find out what it meant and was told by the night clerk to take it from the machine in the lobby. I should have done so, but I felt that I was being patronized and he just wanted to rid of me.
Breakfast, beautiful restaurant, but… I do not understand serving cold sunny side up eggs, maybe it is an Icelandic thing. Additionally they served great small pancakes, but they put them on a serving dish which was then served cold, we Americans like ours hot so we can put butter on them. The bread was GREAT. Hard to find the same in the USA.
Finally I did take the time to fill out the hotel survey which I do not like to do. I asked to be acknowledged. It has been a few days and there has been no acknowledgement. Additionally I did meet the front office manager and told her about the card in the room, I did not feel that it was very important to her.
I think the bus pass for the local bus is a GREAT Idea.
Hilton Nordica Hotel you are so close to being a great hotel, but in my mind you seem to be lacking leadership. Good Luck you have a beautiful property.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Hilton. Very good service and within walking distance to old part of Reykjavik. Rooms were very clean and the decor was tastefully Nordic.

Would recommend without hesitation.

At almost the last minute, my flight out of Iceland was canceled. Not the best way to end a vacation, upon talking with the people of customer services, I was put up in this hotel. What an amazing place. I was treated very well the moment I went to the front desk to the time I left. A very supportive and professional staff.

The hotel itself is kept in very good condition. My room was a single one and while small by North American standards had everything I needed.

The meals were great. The Sunday breakfast and buffet was super and the roast lamb was out of this world.

I was able to take advantage of the fitness centre and it is very well stocked with all the equipment I needed.

It made that last extra night in Reykjavik a true treat.

Thank you Hilton and IcelandAir.

Clean, helpfull and very nice staff. Executive rooms nice size and a wonderfull view in 8 & 9. floor. Nice Executive Loung. Free drinks at evenings. In the reseption area there were posibilitys to book what ever you should want of trips. Spactacular trip with spesial cars on topp of glaisiers etc, etc. Short trips and longer trips / daytrips.

Room Tip: Stayed at this hotel once a year for seven years. For excelent view, book room in front of the hotel...

good standard hotel as you would expect from Hilton. Only issue was the location, we'd misread and didnt realise how far out the hotel was. Only five mins in a taxi to the centre but still an unexpected expense. But the day tours all picked up from the hotel so ok for that. Rooms warm and clean and staff welcoming.
