Although we spent only one night at this hotel, we were impressed! Granted, the location is not the best for a tourist to use as a base, but free bus service is available through the hotel and many city buses stop right in front. The rooms are very large and comfortable. Ask for a room in the front of the hotel and if it is a sunny day in Reykjavick you will be treated to an amazing view. The Vox restaurant provides a very good breakfast buffet , as well as a huge luncheon spread. Dinner choices are excellent, although the restaurant can be quite noisy in the evening. The TV in the rooms can be difficult to figure out. Also, using a calling card can be a problem as the in-room phones do not work with them. Ask to use a phone in the lobby to make such calls.

Stayed here 1 night at start of tour of Iceland - we consider this Hilton average at best compared to US Hiltons, but compared to other hotels we encountered in Iceland, it was very good, and the restaurant the best we found in Iceland, both for dinner and an extensive buffet breakfast.
The room was large by European standards, with hardwood floors (rooms above could be noisy if hard heels or chairs moving); refig. and coffee maker as well as tv, phone, and wifi. Caution: water can be VERY hot - be careful. also note - in summer, with light almost 24 hrs, the curtains do not block out all light.
Hotel is located close to sports complex and excellent botanical gardens, as well as 'washer-woman' memorial. While a long walk to downtown, the bus is free, and the 'hop on/hop off' bus stops right outside also.
Overall, this would be a 3 star property in the US, but for Iceland it is 4 stars.

Room Tip: Try to get room away from road for quiet.

Arrived 24th June to a prompt and efficient welcome. Immaculate bedroom and bathroom, also black out curtains to deal with 24 hours daylight !! Don't bother looking for alternative breakfast elsewhere as the in house breakfasts on a buffet style is perhaps the best I have experienced. Happy hour also most welcome as Icelandic drinks are not cheap. This hotel is not to be missed and the pricing is most competitive.

Room Tip: Front rooms face hills and sea views Rear rooms face car park but also have views

A short 3 day stay in June 2014.
An early check in was no problem to the hotel
I was travelling alone so the single room was fine and typical of what you would expect from a large Hotel chain.
The the view from the room was across the sound but low cloud prevented me from seeing a panoramic vision!
The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice, and provided a good start to the day
The main people staying were older Americans on organised tours or younger people on conferences, but my two teenagers would have been fine staying here.
The hotels is a little way out of town but if you walk its no problem and the Hotel provides free bus passes that can be used for all routes in Reykyavik.
The airport shuttle buses dropped off and picked up from the hotel and they were on time every time
The staff were excellent from the reception to the breakfast room to the cleaners.
I have been to Reykyavik a long time ago and it was nice to see the independent shops and no big chain stores as in other Cities
Iceland is expensive and not for the budget conscious but the food was excellent especially in the Market Grill.
I would stay at this Hotel again

We arrived 20 hours later than planned, so it was a relief to be able to check into the Hilton Nordica. We had a room on the executive floor: the room itself was OK, rather small and the desk and closet were so close together one couldn't get into the closet (which was also small) if someone was at the desk. The shower also wasn't great. However, everything else about our stay was wonderful: the executive lounge has a great view, the breakfast was OK, and the evening appetizers were fantastic. Having a free bus pass for our days in Reykjavik was a nice plus (though the walk into town is easy, it is nice to be able to take the bus back). I also enjoyed the free access to the spa and a dip in the "hot pot" at the end of a long day (the complimentary head and neck massage was great). I would definitely recommend staying here.

First time at The Hilton Reykjavik Nordica Hotel and I was mostly pleased. The rooms are bright, not overly spacious and the service was pleasant. We had a room on the Executive Level with club access which provided a tasty full breakfast along with delicious evening snacks. The hotel provides free bus passes into the heart of Reykjavik which is a nice perk. One suggestion would be for the hotel to provide black out shades since we were there during the midnight sun and sleeping was somewhat challenging with the brightness. Taking everything into consideration, I would certainly return to this property.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a lake and mountain view on the Executive Floor

This was my first time ever in Iceland and if I ever go back I am returning to this hotel. Hilton's are hit or miss in the states but none are up to the standard of the ones in Europe. This place was great. We were set up with an Executive Room on the 8th floor with a view of the harbor and mountains. Really lovely. The only awkward thing per usual are the beds. They were 2 barely queen sized though we requested a KING. They just don't have them I guess. Bathroom was clean and spacious and had nice toiletries. Most clever are their 2 large bottles of body wash by the sink and in the shower. Most helpful I hate sample sizes. Tub was nice enough for a good bubble bath as well. Large White Bath Sheets and Robes provided. So far A-OK.

Back in the bedroom wi-fi signal was strong and complimentary another plus. In the mini bar nothing. The regular coffee and tea Kettle ensemble were provided but that is all. Luckily that didn't really matter as along with your executive room you get access to the EXECUTIVE LOUNGE. Now this too fluctuates depending on the city and property. Hilton Reykjavik Nordica you can get a full breakfast every morning up until 11am. No waitresses, no muss, no fuss. It's lovely and self-serve. As much as you like with Smoked Salmon, SKYR, Juices, Fruit, Pastries, Eggs, Sausages, full Coffee Machine etc. All in a really nice lounge atmosphere. I prefer this to the VOX Restaurant downstairs.

Next onto the Lobby. You have a gift shop where you will also be able to book all of your touring. They only accept Icelandic Krona in cash but will accept all major credit cards. You can exchange cash at the front desk but at 6%. Skip that. There is also a cash machine in the lobby. Everything in Iceland is a bit more expensive unless you are savvy. Book your tickets for The Blue Lagoon on their official website. The Experience package is best. Go after 6pm and strong recommend dinner in their on site restaurant LAVA. Everything was delish. Get the bus ticket to get there from the concierge though WAY cheaper.

Back to the hotel. Ok one of the hotels selling points is definitely the GYM and SPA area. BTW you can smell the sulfur everywhere you go. Some places more than others but you get used to it quick. The gym is fully equipped with treadmills, stairclimbers, weights and mats. There is a Yoga studio with classes and juice bar. There is also several ...yes several hot tubs. Not bubble or jets just natural hot tubs. Including one outdoors. There is a Sauna and 3 steam rooms as well. There is a proper spa and beauty area as well for treatments but I didn't book any. As in the hot tub I was given a complimentary head, neck and shoulder rub by an attendant. Which seems to be part of your pass.

Back to the Lobby this place is interesting the staff seems a bit young and unfamiliar with service but harmless and not too annoying. Order the Tea for Two if you are going to have lunch. It is like Icelandic Tapas. A bit of everything for about 26 Euro a head and it comes with Little pots of tea or beverage of your choice. We were here during 2nd game of World Cup and it was quite busy and the drinks flowing though at 1am it was still bright as day out.

There is also a media area which we didn't venture into but seemed to be playing movies that you can just take a seat and watch. All in all as I said a great place to stay in Iceland. I hope this helps you on your journey.

Room Tip: Get the Executive Rooms on 8th Floor with harbor view
