16 floors, 320 rooms, Iceland's biggest hotel. It's easy to spot when you're downtown! We enjoyed our stay here during the busy New Year period. It's location is pretty good - a 20 min walk away from the historic harbour area and main centre, but very convenient for Laugavegur (main shopping street) and the historic Hofdi House (where Gorbachev and Reagan met in '86).
Our room on the 7th floor was comfortable, clean and functional. All the things you expect - flat screen TV, tea making facilities, fridge, etc. A few little extras like a heated bathroom floor, ironing board/iron (useful for our New Years outfits!) and a proper bath were a nice touch. The breakfast buffet was pretty good too.
Finally the staff were extremely helpful, a lad on the bar provided us with a jug of fresh milk, extra tea bags and we could book excursions easily with the friendly reception personnel. The manager, Jimi was also superb with the way he dealt with a slight issue we encountered on arrival.
