“A perfect place to stay in Reykjavik.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2014

We stayed at Snorri's at the end of March during five nights. We had a basic double room with a common kitchen and a common bathroom but we almost had nobody at our flour during our stay. The kitchen is great and well equipped. The place is really clean and nicely decorated. Our room was quite big and clean but a little bit noisy because we had the road passing by near the building. Plus, we did not have wifi. Our room was cleaned every day.

The breakfast was perfect, you have everything you need, including the amazing bread the proprietors do themselves. It is however served quite early: from 7.30am to 9am.

Regarding to the service, Magnus was really helpful. He advices us a lot about the different trips and booked them for us. However, the reception was only opened the morning. Moreover, if you want to spare some euros, do not take the pick up service (6€ per trip), because the busses' meeting point is only 10 minutes away by foot.
We also appreciated a lot that the proprietors thought to bring a breakfast for us the day before we left, because we left very early.

Prices are not expensive, especially during the winter (1 night offered). Snorri's is 10 minutes walk from the center of Reykjavik.
We spent a great time here and we highly recommend Snorri's guesthouse.

Don't let the non-descript building exterior fool you. Inside is a tastefully-decorated, thoroughly modern (think: IKEA) guesthouse where you'll feel right at home. Magnús is a friendly and excellent host; he was prompt & helpful in answering all our questions prior to arrival, gave us great suggestions during our stay, and allowed us early check-in, even carrying our bags upstairs for us.

Breakfast was served from 7:30 to 9 in a lovely breakfast room overlooking the garden. Offerings included fresh-baked breads, cereals, skyr, yogurt, fruit, cheese, lunchmeat, various tasty spreads, and coffee, tea, and juice.

Three of us shared the family room with private bath. We had plenty of closet space, a TV, fridge, and balcony. Free wifi in the lobby actually worked in our upstairs room, too.

Though Snorri's is located on a quieter street in Reykjavik, it is only a short walking distance to the downtown area (15-20 min.) and 10 min. to the nearest grocery store.

We were extremely pleased with our visit and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when we return (hopefully soon!)

This guesthouse is like an American-style bed and breakfast. You're greeted by the proprietor, and everything is professional, clean and perfectly fitting. I recently stayed four nights at Snorri's, and my room was large, tidy and perfectly suited for my trip.

Rates are reasonable for Reykjavik, and I took advantage of a winter special (one night free out of my four-night stay). Breakfast was enjoyable. It included salami, ham, cheese, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, two cereals, yogurts, crackers, breads, fresh fruit (oranges, pineapples, watermelons, etc.), orange juice, milk, water, tea, coffee, etc. The best part was the homemade, warm bread, usually two loaves with all the fixings to accompany (butter, Nutella, jellies, etc.).

The guesthouse is located on a main street, but the traffic is quiet. The main church in Reykjavik is about a 5-minute walk, and the city center is about 10 minutes. The nearest grocery store (24/7) is about 10 minutes away, although be prepared for expensive prices. The harbor, which is great for viewing of Northern Lights, is only about 12-15 minutes away.

Snorri's Guesthouse is a great find in a cool city. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed in Reyk for the final three of a 10 day trip. We stayed next door on the second floor apartment. We were the only people in the unit. Our room was clean with a closet, double bed, table for sitting and we had a great view of the Cathedral. I enjoyed the walk into town and it wasn't very far at all. Reyk's indoor pool is right across the street which is only $3.00USD to enter. The unit had a kitchen was well stocked if you wanted to cook, had a little table there, a clean bathroom. There appeared to be other rooms, which were locked. I would not have liked to share this space with others. We were able to keep our vehicle in the driveway, which was nice. Magnus is very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast included fresh vegetables, yogurts, meat/cheese, warm bread, granola, fresh fruit. The breakfast room is very light and clean. We were there at the very beginning of the music festival - by chance - so the place was starting to fill up. There is another apartment on the first floor in the building next door which was a bit bigger and very nice. We felt like we had an apartment - very lucky. Would recommend staying there. Our friends stayed in an expensive hotel in downtown and weren't as happy with their fancy hotel as we were with Snorri's

Room Tip: request to stay in the apartments next door.

Service provided by Magnús prior, during and after our stay was great. Rates are very reasonable and well worth every cent. Although not right in the center, it is walking distance to it unless you are very lazy. Parking was not a problem.

We got to the airport early in the morning and arrived at Snorri's about 8:30 am. We checked into our room and went down for breakfast. For our first three days, we had a room with a shared bathroom. There was no sign of anyone else using the bathroom. Room was comfortable and clean. There is limited TV consisting of BBC news, CNN, and one Iceland station. Breakfast is typical of all the places we stayed in Iceland, except for the fresh bread at Snorri's each morning, which was great. On the second night, I had a medical problem and Magnus was great in helping us find a local medical facility that would treat tourists.

We spent three nights at the start of our trip and then spent four nights at the end. We had a room for the last four nights with a private bathroom.

Location was great, room was comfortable and clean, service was excellent. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at the guesthouse for 4 night. Room was comfortable and clean. Room had a mini fridge, kettle, tea/coffee etc. Staff very friendly and helpful. Guesthouse is a short walk to the main shopping area, and sites. Room rate included breakfast that was more then enough to get you started in the morning.I would stay at Snorri's Guesthouse again when in Reykjavik.
