“Good hotel on a really impressive island”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

Stayed at vestmannaeyar for one night during our iceland trip. We didnt know what to expect from this island and after our stay i can tell it is really great! Saw a lot of Puffins around and walked up a warm volcano. Impressive! The hotel staff is great, the room big and clean. But it is a bit expensive on this island. Right across the road there is a good place to dine out in an original icelandic restaurant. We really can recommend this hotel and the staff!

We only stayed one night but it was a great location to walk around the town, visit the volcano and then go play 18 holes of golf at the Vestamman island course which exists in a volcanic crater and along the ocean with beautiful cliffs for puffin sightings. Our dinner was also excellent and our rooms were clean and modern

We booked two rooms for our family, and they gave us a huge room with lovely jacuzzi for the adults, and a more standard hostel type room for the kids. Centrally located and easy to park. We were very satisfied. But they went above and beyond when, without a request from us, they sent our daughter back a forgotten Tshirt that it turned out she cared about! We didn't even know which hotel we'd left it in, so they certainly had no obligation. That's caring and service! We loved this island and were really glad we made the time for this side trip while in Iceland.

Room Tip: Some rooms are much larger and more luxurious than others, so if you're particular, ask about th...

Good value especially given how expensive accommodation is in Iceland, kitchen is small but fully equipped and there is another common area, also small but fine. Stayed in 6 person dorm which was comfortable and also had a sofa in it in addition to the beds. I had to ask various times for a duvet (although to be fair I don't think the staff understood what I meant the first time), and when it did arrive it was not very warm, especially since it seemed that the hostel did not have central heating at night, and given it was a very blustery night (albeit in August), heating would have been appreciated since it was somewhat cold without. Also wifi Internet does not work well if at all since the router is inside another building (the more expensive hotel) and one has to go there to be sure of a good connection. Overall though, the hostel was perfectly adequate, but I would recommend taking an extra blanket if you only have bed linen.

I stayed at this hotel with family during the summer. The owner and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly gave good advice about things to do and helped make tour arrangements for us. They even did our laundry for us. The lobby is small, but there is a computer with internet access and another small longe and bar area in the attached restaurant.

We had 2 triple rooms. The down side is that the triple rooms are on different floors and there is no elevator and it is a lot of stairs to take luggage up. The rooms were very clean with big windows, small refrigerators, a desk, tv, Wifi (which worked great) and chair. The bathroom was small and awkward to use for a short person and the rooms were on the small side, but we found that to be true of most of the placed we stayed in Iceland.

breakfast was the typical Icelandic breakfast of yogurt, cereral, cheese, meats, bread, a small selection of fruit, and very good chocolate croissants.

The hot tubs in the basement were wonderful, with strong jets. The location is great, in the center of town and just a couple of blocks from the ferry.

This hotel is not far from the ferry or the center of all restaurants and shops. The room was very spacious and clean. The owners were helpful and friendly. They showed us how to get to the best location to observe puffins. Very nice owners, always smiling. The hotel has 2 hot tubs in the basement that are clean. Beautiful pictures of Iceland on the walls. Breakfast was nice, with delicious fresh peaches.

I spent two nights at this hotel last week with a friend and we had a great time. Since the room was a bit small for us, the charming owner did not hesitate to give us another room so we could both have more privacy during our stay. The location is perfect (meaning, near the ferry and in town) and the new owner is quite nice. He always lived on the Island and we can feel that he is proud of his land. There is also a restaurant which serves very good fish.
