We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Vestmannaeyjar and our visit to Heimaey. The staff was very helpful and took care of everything from booking tours to restaurant recommendations. I would definitely recommend a visit to the Vestmannaeyjar islands and a stay in this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the volcano.

I've stayed at "Hotel Vestmannaeyjar" twice. Once in 2010 and again in 2014. The new owners have really outdone themselves with the expansion. Everything is modern and new. It also helps that the restaurant on the main floor is the finest in the town. The staff were amazing, Especially the owners son Frikki. The showers were amazing. The toilets felt nice also. The only weird thing about the hotel is that they don't accept tips. 5/5 would stay again.

It was hard to find this hostel because it was not clear on the Hostelling International site. Not to mention it was on a one-way street on which there was construction so the only way to get to it was to go the wrong way! Oy that took us a while to find.

Got checked in fine. We were in a large group but were practically the only ones there which was nice. Kitchen was well equipped with lots of storage space. Even had a clothes washing machine to use!
Rooms and toilet facilites were clean and beds were comfortable.

Only problem is that wifi does not reach the hostel. You have to go and sit in the hotel lobby to use wifi.
I would totally recommend it.

We had the honor of being one of the first guests in the completely renovated new hotel. The hotel and the rooms are excellent but what makes the stay unforgettable is the hospitality of the owners and staff. They are ready to share the best tips for making your stay at the island the best.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Vestmannaeyjar over Easter weekend 2014, and I can honestly say it is one of the best and most pleasant hotel experiences I've had. The hotel just added a brand new wing, and we had the honor of being the first guests ever to stay in one of the new rooms! Hotel Vestannaeyjar is great in that in combines the best aspects of a quality three or four star hotel (excellent rooms, especially in the new wing; efficiency; professionalism; convenience) with the best aspects of a guest house or B&B (coziness, friendliness, family run).

The owners Maggi and Adda are wonderful people who made us feel truly welcome during our stay. They've only owned the hotel for about two years, but you'd think that they and their family and friends with whom they run the hotel have been lifelong hoteliers. They were incredibly accommodating, and they even invited us guests to the party they had on Easter Sunday to celebrate the opening of the new wing to the hotel! Around 100 guests came from around the island, including the mayor of Vestmannaeyjar, so we had a chance to get to know the wonderful people of Heimaey.

The service at this hotel is top-notch, the location is great (a close walk to the port and a number of hiking trails; and some of the rooms have amazing views of the island's volcanoes), and the restaurant on the ground floor, Einsi Kaldi, has excellent food and is well worth at least one of your dinners on the island.

Really loved this place and had a memorable experience in Vestmannaeyjar because of the great owners and staff at this hotel. Will definitely be back!

We came to the islands and walked to this hotel to see if we could stay a few nights and found some of the nicest people there. The owners are wonderful and so kind. Let us pick which room we liked the most and the food was good too. Rooms were clean, and we enjoyed a soak in the large bathtub. Simple room, nothing fancy but clean.

Very friendly, helpfull and kind. We should stay for two nights but we'd seen the island in half a day. They helped us to book us over to the next hotel and let us stay for one night in a wonderfull big and luxery room. If we ever go back, we'll definitly will stay here.
