This excellent hotel has clean rooms and wonderful amenities. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the hiking trail that takes you to Eldfell which is a must see location. The beds were comfortable enough and the bedding and rooms very clean. Amazing views of both volcanoes from the room. An excellent restaurant downstairs and the included breakfast is excellent. Easy walking distance to most everything.

We stayed here with a group. Our room was nice, though spartan. It was clean, comfortable and had a wonderful walk in shower with lots of water pressure. It also had a pot for coffee and tea. The lobby and the outside of the hotel is so plain, you might bypass this place. That would be too bad. It is an excellent place to stay in a wonderful town. One hint to those who stay: open your window at night. The room will be awfully hot otherwise. The hotel also has a decent bar and restaurant.

Me and my famly had a nice time. It was charming hotel with heart. I dont think it looks great from the outside but inside it was very nice. We stayed in one of the new rooms and they look great. It has a nice restaurant that you have to try.

Absolutely loved our stay in this hotel. Our room was spacious and very nicely decorated with a lovely view on the city center. Loved the clearly new shower. Moreover the bathroom was very clean. Staff was very friendly. The day we left, we were still in our room getting ready, when the cleaning crew entered. Afterwards when we checked out we got apologies for this mistake from the staff at reception, explaining they were using a new system.

We didn't try the restaurant though, so can't comment on that. Since I had read that the restaurant was very good, I had high hopes for breakfast, but was a little disappointed. Options for breakfast were very basic.

O, the wifi works fine, but it is a nuisance that you have to log in time and time again to use it.

We were a couple staying here for one night, and even though the hotell looks sort of worn from the outside, inside it is very nice. The room had a great view, a comfotable bed and a very nice bathroom. The staff was very polite and helpful as well. And the best part about the hotel is the extremely good restaurant Einsi Kaldi. We stayed for 9 days in Iceland and the best meal on the whole trip we had here in this restaurant.

We stayed here for two nights, and I fell completely in love with Heimaey, which has a very retro feeling compared to the rest of mainland Iceland (or the parts that I saw in the West, South, and Southeast). The hotel had mixed rooms, admittedly, and we lucked out and got one of the NEW rooms which is pretty make-it-or-break-it for what your experience will be with this hotel. I had peeks into the older rooms when they were being cleaned. Our room was on the second floor, was as quiet as could be, was beautifully decorated and large with a really comfortable bed, and had good amenities. The downstairs lobby and restaurant were exquisite, the price was great for Iceland, and we found the reception to be friendly.

It's extremely well-located, right near the port -- but not too close to the port -- so that you can walk everywhere. It's particularly close to the old portion of town which was sadly destroyed by volcanic activity and which makes for a nice, if not macabre, hike that also passes by extraordinarily beautiful beaches, a reconstructed stave church, and so forth. There is a supermarket nearby and several boutiques, and a most wonderful little aquarium. But I digress too much about the locale.

This is a well-recommended hotel PROVIDED that you do get a "new" room. I would still likely stay in an old room over any of the guesthouses in area, or at least the ones that we passed by. The only oddity was the hot pot, which was sort of in the basement and had this weird vibe that I couldn't place, filled to the gills with tourists who were just a bit to merry for my taste.

Room Tip: Pick a "new room." Be sure of this. These are the grey rooms.

Here with a tour and very pleased. Room is neat and clean with a Scandinavian feel. I have a corner room with great windows. Beds are comfortable with comforter encased in white, pressed cotton duvet. Front desk staff pleasant and greets you every time they see you. Restaurant staff is also charming. The chef appears in the restaurant to check that you are pleased - a nice touch! Remember, this is a small place in Iceland so do not expect what you get at a five star hotel in the world's larger cities.
