The guesthouse was outside town and one needed to pay attention to the small signs by the roadside for the turn off from R1 to get there. Once there, it was a heaven especially when there was constant rain and gale-force wind like when we were there. The guesthouse building got four rooms spread on two floors with a clean new shower/toilet on each. All rooms were then occupied but we never had to wait for the toilet/shower. Room was small but nicely appointed and very clean. The power got cut off near midnight and we ringed the hosts. They immediately came to fix the problem despite the chilly cold and rain outside. It was the first time they had such problem and they were apologetic for it. Eva and her husband were very friendly.

The breakfast included was the best in our two-week trip in Iceland! Definitely recommended!

The people are extremely friendly and helpful with lots of suggestions about the local area and lots of encouragement to eat more of their delicious breakfast food. The rooms are large, clean and ours (upstairs) had a lovely view. Bathroom was spotless with a really good rain shower. There is a kitchen where you can cook and a lounge area to relax in. The location is really special. You can reach local sites like Skogarfoss, Dyrholaey and Vik easily by car but it's also such a peaceful and stunning place that it's nice to relax there and to head out on foot to the beach or to hike up one of the nearby hills for some spectacular views. I would definitely stay again.

The location is pretty amazing, on the way to Dyrhólaey, but a little far from Höfn! There are a lot of amazing sites to see nearby. In the guesthouse everything looks new and very clean, confortable room, and nice bathroom. The breakfast was pretty good! One of the best stays I had in Iceland!

Well that is what it looked like as we drew into the farm. Inside this longhouse though is an absolutely spiffing place to stay. Ultra clean. With kitchen and tea and coffee making facilities and settee. The breakfast come kitchen area is lovely. We were plied with coffee and cakes on our arrival. Bit odd layout in that there are rooms on ground floor and two up the stairs, that is where we were, upstairs? Downstairs are en suite whereas our two rooms shared a bathroom. There being an internal balcony arrangement between the rooms looking down onto part of the settee sitting area below. Chickens play outside and the views are wonderful. Our upstairs rooms at gable ends gave views of a glacier or the lighthouse, depending on room. Farm only 5 min drive from bird watching bit saw one manic puffin, the road closes 1900hrs. Back onto main road towards Vik look for route 215 on left follow to end for wonderful black beach. This is before you ascend hill en route to Vik. Lovely place great accommodation, breakfast was more than generous. Was even allowed to make some rolls for lunch, super people running the guesthouse. Easy to find with road sign on main road and helpful email when booked thru internet. Remember you have to pay cash after breakfast.

Room Tip: Go to vik, on the point of entering town before buildings look on right hand side is gravel road. Ha...

Everything about this place felt magical, from the super-comfy beds to the breakfast feast to the chickens running around outside our window. And the location is perfect for anyone wanting to explore Dyrholaey, Skogafoss, and the rest of this incredible landscape. I would definitely stay here again.

we spent our first night in Island at Gardakot and fell in love right away with the amazing location and warm welcome of the owner. we slept in a romantic double room at the first floor with wood at the ceiling and a stunning view on the coutryside. amazing! everything very clean and comfortable, the bathroom was shared but beeing the only guests at our floor we had it all for us.
we loved the breakfast. the eggs and jams were from the farm itself and the owner cooked tons of pancakes express for us. it was the best and biggest breakfast we had in Island.
The farm is very close to Dyrholaey and to Vik. Really recommend it, as it is great great value for money. on eof our best memories in Island.

Location :The guest house is in Dyrholaey, the place to see birds life on the huge rock. (5 min drive)

Guest House: Beautiful 2 storey house with open mezzanine / balcony. The owners are not leaving in this house though but just few meters away. The kitchen is fully equipped if you need to cook. The living room table is large to fit all the geust (max 8 guests). There is even a couch and TV is you want to relax.

The room: very spacious, I felt in those house design magazine : bright, light, freshly painted and very very clean. We had a mirror and sink in the room. We shared our large clean bathroom with another couples. The bed, linen, pillows were very comfortable and fresh.

The owners: as a welcome they served us some tea and made a very tasty cake. The next day they have been very helpful calling Icelandic company to see if they were operating.

The BF - the best part: we sat with all the guests, sharing our experience. All the food on the table was from the farm.It was very tasty, lots of variety. We have been lucky to try the home made jam, bread and waffles.

It's one of our favorite place to stay in Iceland
