“New--- but with some quirks!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

The hotel is very new with interesting design and ambience but puts form ahead of function in some features. A sink with no plug has fewer functions and little can be placed on the small diameter logs beside the beds. The lights look good but are not friendly. The room is well sealed and air flow is managed. We found though that with both door and windows shut there was a whistling noise ---so we slept with a window cracked open to silence the whistle. The floor to ceiling windows look splendid but perhaps when a room looks directly onto the active tour bus loading area some wall or other view blocking technology like a lower blind would be very acceptable! Terrific beds !

The breakfast was not included with the room but the price was reasonable. We enjoyed dinner at the Halldorskaffi on the helpful recommendation of front desk staff. The scenery around Vik is splendid !. .

Room Tip: 210 has an excellent sea view but its ceiling to floor window overlook where buses unload.

Location: walk to the black sand beach and the shops (some open 24 hours) and town.

Room: Spacious, sleek decor, airy, clean and bright. Our room in the new building facing the small hill behind the hotel. Quiet, of course, in Vik. Coffee/tea maker, clean and spacious bath room with standard amenities.

Service: front desk staff are efficient and friendly to bring up adaptor and extra tissue box.
Restaurants staff are a bit slow for dinner and breakfast.

Wifi is complimentary and very stable and fast.

Restaurants: Breakfast spread is limited, if your room rate incl. breakfast then enjoy it.
our set dinner is pretty tasty.

It is a good choice in the countryside.

Room Tip: stay in the new building - All rooms are bright and spacious. If your rates allows, ask for a room...

This might just be the nicest hotel in Vik but it isn't much above average. The rooms are quite small although new and clean. The amenities are sparse and Spartan. The television offered two whole channels! Dinner in the restaurant was very good, albeit pricey as most everything in Iceland. The front desk staff was pleasant and attentive. Breakfast was included with the room and it offered a number of cold items as well as the traditional English baked beans and Icelandic fare, but also a hot egg dish.

I had dinner with my friend at the restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. The service was great, very friendly staff, and the food was so good. The restaurant is quite big and it has a very cosy feeling. We also had some cocktails at the bar, which was very classy and I very much enjoyed hanging out there.

Rooms is clean and spacious. Especially the bathroom. This is important to us because after a tiring trip you need a spacious bathroom so that you feel relax with your shower. Not in a crampy bathroom that you can't even move!

Breakfast is very basic. But there is a nice restaurant opposite the hotel. It is quite nice. Especially the grilled lamb racks.

Reception is friendly and check in is speedy. Check out is speedy too. No hassle at all.

Recommended hotel for its location and rooms.

A beautiful new hotel in Vik, Icelandair have done a great job & have picked some awesome staff.

From check in the staff are super friendly, anything you need they will help with, convenient parking, beautifully appointed room & bathroom. Highly recommend.

Only downfall here is the restaurant, take a step out of the hotel when looking to eat, limited menu & expensive.

this must be a good location as not only do we see amazing scenery but also a nearby camping ground and also traillers.

just one minute away on the opposite side of the road, there is a 24/7 wool factory shop, just in case you urge to do shopping in the middle of the night.

We got up early to go outdoor to admire the serene morning scenery. It was a wonderful run on the dirt road.

we like the room with a big window to admire the beautiful view, whether it was ocean view, or the hillside greenery.

The resaturant was ok, even some said the dinner portion was a bit small (ok for us). The lamb was indeed a bit tough. Breakfast varieties ok.

Overall not bad.
