“friendly and relaxing holiday”

We have returned to this hotel as we like the pleasant atmosphere, the clean and comfortable rooms and most of all the welcoming staff. Yes it is quiet and not for the party-girls, but what is wrong with reading a good book at the pool or at the nearby lovely little beach cafe and there is of course the WiFi for the many owners of laptops, tablets and god knows what....you can also rent a car and explore the mountain villages (I liked Bellapais and Karmi) or rent a bike from the hotel as walking on the main road is no fun or simply enjoy the sun on your balcony!!!

We stayed here for one week on half board basis. We stayed in one of the bungalows which had a mezzanine bedroom. Very basic but kept very clean. Breakfast simple, basic, continental fare. Dinner was rather bizarre most evenings. One hot dish which always included rice and potatoes together and sprouts as the veg!!!!!!! Lots of salad dishes to choose from as well.

The nearest beach was a good 30 minute walk away from the hotel. Turn left, walk along the main road until you come to a sign for the Sardunya Beach Bar and walk down this road which then becomes a dirt track and the ''beach'' eventually appears. This is a very small sandy beach but safe to swim from.

The Dolmus stop is right outside the hotel and is very good and frequent. We also used the local supermarkets which were virtually opposite the hotel on the other side of the road. Again turn left as you walk out of the hotel on to the main road and there are two shops within 5 minutes walk. The hotel didn't mind us stocking up on drinks and snacks for the fridge.

The staff were mostly friendly and all spoke to English to a varying degrees. Due to the isolated position there isn't anything to do locally which is fine if you just want to chill out.

Five friends - on the mature side - visited the last 2 weeks in September. The hotel is very good value for money, being all-inclusive. It's quite a small cosy set-up- less than 100 rooms round a swimming pool and small pool with 3 shutes. I think some of the rooms are 2 storey family set-ups. However we were in rooms for couples. Everything was kept clean and tidy and maid service was faultless- typical wardrobe, fridge, dressing table, T.V. double or twin bed, sheets ,one pillow, blanket -never needed with temperatures of low 30 degrees or so! The air-conditioning was always available if needed. However we liked to let a gentle breeze waft in from the balcony -all rooms had balconies facing the pool. The back terrace faced the mountains or fields. The sea was actually about 20 minutes walk away through a field or track and main road. However the dolmus buses ran every 5 or 10 minutes and went past several beaches on the way to Kyrenia -about 12 miles away. The cost of this was minimal - about 3 liras(£1). You could use the sunbeds on these beaches if you patronised the cafes or hotels (just buy a drink or something!) Obviously by staying at the Club Simena - the sunbeds are free - always plenty to spare at this time of year. The food at the hotel was excellent - typical continental breakfast of boiled eggs, cold meats, cheeses, bread, olives ,yogurt and honey and jams, tea and coffee and juices - no cappuccinos though! Lunches and dinners always provided mezes - many varied salads- and a main course -usually beef based casserole or chicken- very occasionally fish. Even the puddings were more interesting than some hotelsI have known -profiteroles, gateaux, milk puddings. The bar served up local house wine beer (Turkish), g and ts, brandy and shorts - all local brands - you won't find the British labels you're used to obviously. There were soft drink pumps to access pepsis, orange and lemonade. As it was end of season (we presumed), the massage, sauna and entertainment in the evening were lacking. Possibly all these things are available in high season. having said that the weather could not have been better, and the friendly staff seemed to work there most of the year. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing break - this is perfect . There certainly isn't much to spend your money on or places to frequent in the near vicinity, I think I did hear some disco type music on one evening in the distance. Mostly the sound that prevails is the man calling from the mosque in the nearby village.

We have stayed in lub Simena for the last 2 years now and would recommended it. It is just outside the more touristy areas of Kyrenia, so if you want to get out and explore the area you will def need a car. The complex itself is clean and if you are all inclusive then the food is decent. The hotel has two pool one of which has water-slides which are great and keep them entertained. be aware that the pools are not manned by lifeguards so were always keeping an eye on the kids not to do anything silly as we saw a couple of accidents where kids were coming down the slides with dingys, which the width of the pool is not designed for.
The little villas are very airy and you are always looking at the wonderful mountains whilst swimming so the views are great. Also you are allowed to do your own shopping and stock your fridges which is great.
Overall this is a great hotel for the kids as well as those trying to get away, but as I said outside of the hotel there is nothing there so you would need a car.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel in May, the full holiday time had not started and we had plenty of room at the pools, bars etc. The accommodation was in a split level bungalow, and was very clean and contained everything that we needed for our stay. The staff were excellent, the food was very good, and plenty of it, and the bar staff and prices were very good, especially a barman called Ghengis, who was so helpful in all matters. Transport was available to Kyenia, and the local Dolmas stopped outside, every 10 minutes, and were so cheap. All in all a really good holiday, and we would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Go a little bit later than May, when evening entertainment is on.

Will never set foot in this place again due to a very rude woman on reception..actually have nothing else to ad but this thing s making me write a minimum of 200 characters. Rude rude rude rude rude rude..word of mouth goes a long way and with so many hotels vying for competition maybe it wasn't such a wise move to refuse to let my 5 year old son bring his birthday cake ( as it wasn't purchased from there)despite the fact we'd be eating and purchasing food from there and having been overcharged entry for use of the pool.. supply birthday cakes do we? No? Didn't think so..he was in tears..thank you very much!

Room Tip: Steer clear!

We visited this hotel with our 2 year old daughter. It cost us 10tl (£3.42) each to get in and the wee one was free. There is a large pool with a swim up bar however the bar seats are missing and there was a pool light hanging off! There is a small pool which was great for our wee one however it did have some grit on the bottom of it but that didn't put us off. There is another pool at the back with 3 water slides however only 2 were working.
It's not the best hotel but not the worst either. The staff were friendly and the cost for lunch was great at 28tl for two cans of juice and a burger with chips. There is a putting green and small child's park however these were pretty run down. All things considered we would definelty go back.
