2 hour delay meant we didnt arrive til after midnight. Next morning we changed to a ground floor apartment with a decent terrace adjacent to the large pool. Clean and serviced daily with clean towels and bedding changed mid week. No complaints whatsoever in that respect. Bar staff very amiable considering their work load. Food.... Uh Oh!! we have never been to an hotel where there was only one main course on offer for the evening meal besides soup!! plenty of cold meats and salads of sorts but didn't appeal to us. Overall the food let the hotel down(in our opinion) that said for what we paid shouldn't complain. Nice pool area with slides and sunbeds. No entertainment during the whole week except for Friday night when a whole load of local residents converged on the hotel and helped themselves to the dining room tables thus leaving the paying guests with littered tables at which to eat. This needs to be addressed by the hotel management.... Priority should be given to their own paying clientel.
In all you get what you pay for.... For us it was well worth the money paid, Kyrenia area is a lovely place to visit.

Room Tip: Although it states "bungalows", they are actually 2 storey buildings, ask for a pool view.

Ok I try and give as honest as I feel possible. Staff friendly enough. A few more than others, memo always stopped for a chat or bit of banter and things got sorted if requested. We went on this holiday as it was a last minute thing. Cost us £199 each half board through cyprusparadise So we can't grumble with that,we went with a view you get what u pay for and we expected to eat out most days/night. On arrival late on a Sunday they presented us with chicken soup and a baguette which was nice. We checked into our room to find we was given a brand new part of the hotel and the grouting was barely dry on the tiles as I say. Few teething problems with air conditioning and tv tuning. But Dave came and sorted that for us. We hired a car for three days which is the minimum allocation on the island and paid £20 a day. Went and visited bellapais monestry which has spectacular views across kyrenia and really looks like it had some great places to eat at night. Only half hour drive. Then on to turtle beach which was nice. The harbour in kyrenia is beautiful at night. You can get buses in for 3.5tl each approx(£1)we went on a boat trip of the coast. More a sunbathing thing with waterslides. Lunch thrown in. £17 each in sterling. Good day out. Escape was also a nice chill day with sun loungers and showers. Has it's own beach area, you pay 20tl each adult for the whole day to use all the facilities. Plenty of hot and cold snacks/food and drink to buy. We sat there and bought a bottle of rose wine. Then we ate a tuna salad Washed down with a mojito. Children welcome there too. We did eat out most mornings and days so I wouldn't rely on the food at the hotel. Just take it as it is a cheap holiday. I've heard some of the bungalows by poolside have been refurbished, but you may need to ask. We actually had a single bed in our room too. Brand new mattress etc. I wouldn't return but it acted as a nice base. Out of the hotel to the right is tolgas. They try in there. But don't quite get a breakfast right. I had a chop instead of bacon !! But hey.

Just returned from a one week stay at the Club Simena. Please don't be fooled by the word 'bungalow'. These are really two story apartment blocks! which are built round two swimming pools and a large sun terrace.
We had a ground floor 'bungalow' which was basic and quite bland inside although it had everything that was needed including a fridge and kettle. The 'bungalow' was cleaned every day so was spotless. Clean sheets twice in one week and fresh towels daily. We had our own furnished private terrace which led straight to one of the swimming pools.
Two pools, one with a partitioned part for small children and the other with 3 large slides.
Food could be eaten inside or out on a large terrace over looking the swimming pool. The food was continental breakfast with selection of meats and cheeses. Also toast and cornflakes. We hope you like eggs as there was boiled eggs one day then fried eggs the next followed by boiled eggs the next and fried the next---take it you get my drift!!! We found this quite boring. The evening meal was just one choice although you still had your salad option, rice, pasta and soup. These meals were quite tasty and differed every night, but we would have liked a choice of menu.
We found all staff very friendly and hard working. Doing their best to help at all times.
There was a bus stop right outside the hotel with very frequent dorma buses. The fare into Kyrenia was just 3.5tl which is about £1.
Outside the front of the hotel if you turn left there is a small supermarket (more like a shack!) which has essentials but further along there is a bigger supermarket which sells most things and also has a cash machine. Approx 500 metres to the second one.
If you turn right outside hotel across the road there are two restaurants (bars). The second one--Jessic's--is mainly English menu. Food was lovely and very reasonable. If you crave the full English after a while then this is the place to go.
To sum up this holiday---for the price we payed (special offer) everything was satisfactory. Would we go again-- yes if the price was right.

Room Tip: Make sure you mention when booking if anyone is disabled and ask for a ground floor.

I am a local in Cyprus and have stayed in many hotels around the island so this is my honest opinion about the overall experience about the hotel.

When i tried to reserve a place for a saturday (1 night), i was talking to a lady at the reception (Cypriot) and her name was “Mediha Onuk”. She told me that i there was no places on a saturday for the next 1 month or so. I explained that i cannot come on any other day so it would be great to be able to squeeze us in for a night. After my request, she was very rude and gave me a number to call to talk to someone responsible for reservations. I thanked her and asked for her name and to my surprise, she shrugged me off over the phone and was extremely angry for asking for her name. We had a little argument and then i hung up the phone wishing i never called.

I ended up calling the number Mediha gave me that night and spoke with Mr. Erbil. He informed me that he would goto the hotel and call me in 5 minutes so he can check for reservations. He called me right after 5 minutes and we talked and ended up taking my reservation for a saturday night but could not explain why the other receptionist denied me service over the phone the night before.

So we came on the saturday and checked in. At the reception was the Cypriot lady who i spoke to but i believe that she didn’t recognise my voice. She was pleasantly helpful. they gave us one of the bungalows near the pool. The room is very basic but relatively clean.
Contents of the room:

--Kettle (But no water, coffee, tea or mugs. May as well not have the kettle since its totally useless)
--Hair Dryer
--2 small bottles of shampoo (No Conditioner or Shower Gel)
--2 towels
--Tiny TV
--Mini fridge (Empty)
The hotel has 2 pools, one has three water slides and is a lot of fun and the other is just a regular pool and has a bar located in the pool itself so you can order drinks without leaving the pool.

The pool area was not clean and it was very untidy. The sun beds were facing all directions and were just scattered around the pool. One of the bars near the pool was being used as a storage and chairs and tables were stashed around any nook and cranny but were clearly visible to everyone. I found the staff to be very inattentive

We just came back from dinner and all i could think was “how fast can i get out of here so i can go and finish my review”. First of all we were not given a bracelet that indicated that our stay was all inclusive so we were promptly interrogated by the angry chef who looked like he did not enjoy his job. After a small altercation, we managed to convince him that we were not here to crash the dinner scene and get away with eating free food.

There was mushroom soup, some kind of meat stew, boiled vegetables and overcooked rice for dinner as well as an assortment of oil drenched entrée’s. The food was terrible at best and i am not even that picky when it comes to food. I just don’t get how hotels can manage to make such terrible food.

We asked if there was wifi and were told that there was wifi at the rooms. That quickly turned out to be a lie but i wanted to make sure it wasn’t just our room. Turns out that the only place the wifi works is the lobby, so we were out of luck with the internet connection in the room. IF YOU DO NEED INTERNET IN YOUR ROOM, don’t bother with this hotel.

Breakfast it not too bad, it consists of an assortment of luncheon meat, egg (Friend only) bread, olives, cheeses coffee and juices. We were satisfied with the breakfast and this time around there was no one to interrogate us :)

Another important note is the distance from the hotel to the main city. It takes around 25-30 minutes to get to the harbour with a car.

So just to sum things up, its not cheap to stay here and is very far from the city centre. There are better hotels for only a fraction more that are near the beach with access to the sea. The food is not great and the service is equally terrible. If you want to stay in Kyrenia, try other hotels such as Dome Hotel (Heart of the Harbour, similar price to this one but 10 times better service), Merit or even pia bella. I recommend staying away unless you have no choice but to stay here.

Room Tip: Try Other hotels before this one, definitely better ones out there for the same amount.

This was meant to be a 5 * holiday but turned out to be far from... we have paid for a room in their 5 *hotel but got a filthy room in the villa. We have raised this to the manager who had a no customer service or people skills and were told "no no you paid for villa" where in fact our docs showed the reservation for a hotel room. Cleaning was awful towels were changed every 2 or 3 days after requesting it every day. We asked for a plumber as the smell from the toilet was awful we got one 1 and a half day after. Food ??? 2 * food no imagination at all. Cakes look good but no taste. Fries were reheated - for dinner you get all the leftovers. No English speakers. Spent at least 45 min daily in the reception area trying to solve our problems. Staff was ignorant and negligent. More a resort for russians - they took priority in everything. Animation team was ok trying to help us to make our holiday a bit nicer. Cheaters everywhere: my friend this is 1000 euro but for you my friend is 500 where in fact the real price was maybe 200. Let's call the difference universal stupidity charge. I will never buy trips from representatives anymore... triple the price for a trip. 10 min away from the hotel a boat trip was 12 euro where in fact we were charged 40 euro. Stay away from big jewellery workshops - 1000 euro a ring but for you my friend I give you discount and you pay 400... where in fact real price was maybe 150 or 200 don't believe in the nickel free story. Our holiday was a nightmare and WE WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE. please carefully check the hotel before book you may end up with a sad face and a ruined holiday. We were actually told this place is for Russians only... say no more.

Dear Bosce,

We are very upset to read your review of our Hotel but thank you for taking the time to write it. Although it is difficult to read, it is imperative that we learn from all our customers experiences and where possible take constructive criticism.
We have never advertised our Hotel as a 5* hotel and nor do any of the Tavel Agents or Tour Operators that we use.
We apologise for the incorrect room allocation when you first arrived and I am glad that we were able to rectify that for you very quickly. The Reception and Management staff do there very best to speak and communicate in English, we apologise if this wasn't up to the standard you expected.
We have many different nationalities visiting North Cyprus and the Club Simena and we certainly try to cater for everyone. There is more English guests than any other denomination.

We are sorry to hear that you felt 'cheated' when visiting the shops in the city, it is the custom here to negotiate prices in a good humored way.
Boat Trips usually range from £20.00 to £40.00 depending on the size and class of boat, together with whether an 'all inclusive' on food and drinks during the trip is included.

Thank you for the comments about the Animation Team and I will be sure to pass on the compliments given.

It is sad that you feel that you wouldn't want to return to us or North Cyprus and we can only apologise again that you feel so negatively about your holiday.

Assuring you of our best intentions at all times.

Kind Regards

Arrived early hours, room was a disaster area, flooding bathroom, had to ask for cups, even though kettle there. Night receptionist was really helpful and promised change of rooms next morning. As soon as possible we had new rooms, which were great. Staff were wonderful, couldn't have been more attentive. Clean linen and towels every day, cleaner/chambermaid did an excellent job.Being out of season most of the facilities were not available and building work is on-going. It was a little out of the way, but having a hire car meant it was not too much of a problem. It would be worth going back if only to see it with all work finished.
