Went for 10 days with my daughter (20) and son (13). I want to synopsise the worst aspects of it first. We were given a single room (this might be more to do with the tour operator Go North Cyprus) rather than the hotel because we expected two rooms for the price. My daughter was furious having to sleep in the same room as us on a bedsit. No kitchen area, no sitting area, just one little fridge tucked away in the corner as you enter the room with a kettle on it - no cups, nothing to drink out of. Our complaints and requests to be moved (even willing to pay whatever price difference there was) fell on deaf ears. We settled in and accepted our fate. Here are some notable negatives.

1. Little or no Internet connection in the room. You have to drag yourself to the lobby if you wanted internet.
2. Ant infested bath room - we were given a can of insect killer.
3. TV did not work or if it did there was no remote.
4. Food - we only ever had breakfast and it's very basic (a better description is probably sub standard) and even the water melon for the first 5 or 6 days had no taste.
5. Light fittings out of place - sockets unhinged or shoddy. I think think this is because the hotel is old and hasn't been maintained to the standard one would expect for a so called 3 star rating.
6. Most of the staff looked miserable and gave the impression they didn't want to be there.

On the plus side:
1. Maids came and cleaned every day.
2.The pool facilities were OK.

Now most would think "you get what you paid for" but I really don't think we got that either. We paid £656 per person for 10 nights. That is not cheap. So I think we got screwed by the operator "Go North Cyprus" who either don't bother checking the hotels they recommend or if they do they don't care so long as the money rolls in.

A word on flights. If you're flying to North Cyprus via Turkish Airways, there is ALWAYS a chang of planes in Turkey. With most other flight operators such as Pegasus, Onur or Atlas you don't have to get off the plane but with Turkish Airlines you do. We didn't know that and weren't told by the operator. On the way back the plane waited too long in Turkey for us to disembark and as a result we missed the connecting flight. Had to run around trying to get another one which we were lucky as there was another flight to Gatwick 2 hours later. It could have been a nightmare.

Here is what I won't be doing again.
1. Fly out from Gatwick.
2. Use Turkish Airlines.
3. Stay at Simena again.

I will think twice about using Go North Cyprus again. They've grown too big too soon and probably can't handle the volume is my opinion.

Room Tip: Single rooms are really only meant for couples or one person. Always ask what kind of room you'r...

We stayed at the club simena october last year.although the hotel is out in the sticks.we found it to be great as a base to explore the island from.the room was clean with fridge air con kettle and TV.we were over looking the pool which was lovely plenty of sunbeds available .we stayed half board and although the food was edible I thought the standard was low.breakfast was eggs boiled one day fried the next, frankfurter type sausages.some olive bread toast and fruit.evening meal one choice of main and a selection of salads dips rice or pasta.we ate out a few times and found it to be very reasonable tolgas across the road was particularly nice.the hotel staff were very helpful and arranged a hire car for us at a very competitive price.there was no entertainment but we were out of season.all in all I found it value for money and would definitely stay again but not half board .

Simena is a lovely hotel , the rooms are very basic however were clearly in the middle up an update when I stayed.
Staff very pleasant and helpful . They were always around and asking if there was any thing I would like . Food was average .

We booked last minute (beginning of July) and just wanted a nice pool to relax by for a week, the problem was that this holiday was somewhat mis-sold by Cyprus Paradise as the other counties using this hotel (eg) the Russians and Polish obviously had their holidays sold as fun pack club 18-30 style holiday for young families, hence the music started blaring out at 10am and didn`t go off until 7pm. We did ask the Polish club rep to turn it down but she said her customer wanted it and the lady at reception said there was nothing she could do. As our rep form Cyprus Paradise only showed up for the welcome meeting we were powerless to do anything about it, so basically we were pushed out the hotel as the noise was quite simply continuous and unbearable.
We had paid for an upgraded room and we were lucky that we only had to swap the once as approximately 50% of the rooms had something wrong with them, mainly the air conditioning not working, also you couldn`t use the tiny balconies because the air con unit where directly above so all the super heated air was blown directly on to you, we also heard from someone that the first room they were given that the bed was sagging in the middle, when they investigated it was broken in two and had been propped up with towels. Cyprus Paradise must really pride themselves on that level of quality.
Cyprus Paradise sell themselves as a specialist company selling top end holidays but they obviously know nothing about their hotels or their customers (or they simply just don`t care once you`ve paid), the hotel is on a main road in the middle of nowhere, it is 2 star at best, there is nothing pretty or remotely nice about this hotel.
Also the picture of the main hotel on their website conveniently doesn`t show the “new – nothing works in these rooms” which have now been build on top of the main building
I know that you have to take these reviews with a pinch of salt but I can genuinely say that if you want a relaxing quiet holiday you are very unlikely to get it here !!!!

My wife and i arrived at the club simena on the 8th july for a two week allinclusive holiday.
The hotel itself is fine ,rooms fine , pool ok ,sometimes a little cloudy by the end or our stay the water was green ,pump broke , they were takeing samples all day ,in our rooms as well.
NOW to the food and drinks, Breakfast every day is boiled eggs one day ,fried the next, for the whole fortnight ,cheap cornflakes ,no other cereal, warm milk ,cornflakes go soggy straight away.
there is also a selection of rubber cheese, salamis, bread, and melon. After asking for toast it took a week for them toget a small toaster but the bread they cut was a tight fit so people were burning there fingers or using a FORK to get it out.Lunch and Diner is the same , one main course only ,take it or leave it, over cooked veg and rice, watery soup, main course usually grilled meat balls ,turkish style meatballs, turkish style tas kebab <meatballs>,chicken casserole, usual side dishes rubber cheese ,salamis. Dessert was tasteless cake or surprise ,surprise MELON. IF you are unfortunate to be All Inclussive the draught lager is undrinkable, no brand name on it, if you like a glass of wine you would do better to pour yourself a glass of vinegar from the table ,tastes the same. After complaining to mercury direct,s agent tour plus we got to have a meal from the al a carte menu ,what a difference nice food, after that we were told we could have certain dishes to eat chicken ,burgers, fish .With five days left of our holiday we ate out even more than before as we were getting more and more stressed out , there is plenty good pubs and resturants near by ,good food and drinks ,good prices. I did have a meeting with the hotel owner, very rude man , i think he is only interested in his profit margin.
There is no entertainment at the hotel, about sixty liverpudlins arrived the second week, Friday night music till 2 30 in the morning outside on the resturant terrace, sunday at the pool till 1 30 am, VERY loud,i had to phone the reception to get it turned off or get them to go inside the hotel as we were up early both days to go on trips .To sum up this hotel only go to it if you only want a place to sleep , half board or all incluisve waste of money as you will only have to eat out anyway . If you have any questions about the hotel or area feel free to ask.

Room Tip: 1501 nice room

Club Simena,North Cyprus is in the back of beyond, on arriving at 10pm via Antalaya to refuel, we are given tepid soup and sandwiches which looked and tasted as though they had been there all day.The breakfast Day1 boiled eggs, Day 2 fried eggs, Day3 boiled, Day4 same old same old, this is the only hot food at breakfast.plenty of salami, rubber cheese,Tomatoes,Cornflakes of a sort, jam's etc.The fruit of the week Melon or Melon or Melon tea or coffee only at breakfast. Evening meal again thin tepid soup you can see the bottom of the bowl, choice of gritty rice, potato wedges, over cooked frozen veg,and a meat of some kind. no other choice, hard luck if you like fish .To go to a beach there is a free bus, which takes you at 10.30 then picks you up at 4pm.If you wish to go into Kyrenia (very nice around the harbour) there is a bus is evey 10mins, but stops at 8.30pm, so you will have to get a taxi back at night. No entertainment in the hotel on any night.but if you want that , its only a 10min walk to a couple of bars/ restaurants JESSIES is very good. Plus side the main pool has plenty of sun beds, etc.Seperate pool with water slides for the young. Maids change the towels every day and beds every 2days.could not fault them, if you wanted extra pillows etc no problem.fridge and a kettle so had to take cups, spoons, from the bar.To buy water milk and fresh fruit there is a small supermarket 50meters walk away. but all in all we would not go back to Club Simena.

Room Tip: rooms on the east side away from the water slides.1401-1430
