“Shady, peaceful and close to the beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2013

I have stayed here twice, once camping and once in the cedar cabin and thoroughly enjoyed both times. The campground is set amongst big trees, you can often hear kookaburras and other birds. The bathrooms were great with hot showers. The shared kitchen had no cutlery or pots/pans etc so bring your own if you're camping, however the cabins have their own.

Sometimes it was a little noisy at night with groups celebrating but it never went after 11pm.
Just a short walk to the beach, shop, liquor store and delightful little tapas restaurant at the park entrance, what more could you want really!
A beautiful little spot I highly recommend!

Room Tip: If camping you need all kitchen supplies minus the BBQ.

Greeted by a friendly male staff member. The showers and toilets had mosquito's the size of my palm- they were huge! It definitely ruined my hot showers, the cedar cabins were overly simple , they did not have a stove nor were towels and soap provided! Was awoken at 1:30am by people playing the guitar and playing karaoke, which isn't good when you have the flu. Bathroom floors very dirty, plagued with moths, won't be staying again.

I have camped in 3rd world countries with better accommodation. Booked fisherman's cottage, was given a key to a room that had already been taken. Then given a replacement room once mistake was realised by staff after I went in to inform them. Security of cottage is non existent. Cottage smelt stale, no towels, fridge was off on arrival. Cobb webs and generally old and in poor condition. A guy who spoke to us who turned out to be the owner was rude and offered no explanation for the wrong key and tried to infer we had made the error, which is difficult given the key was handed to me. Fortunately I was given a full refund so that was a win. The rate was also incorrectly published on the website so I was initially overcharged. For the price of the cottage and what you get for your money it certainly is not worth the price.

This was exactly what it says on the packet- simple no frills camping. Facilities were clean & basic however this did nothing to detract from the enjoyment of the visit. Staff were friendly and informative and the surrounding area makes it an excellent place to visit. 2 min walk from "Sea Garden" restaurant - possibly one of the best in the Margaret River region.

We booked a Fisherman's Cottage, which sounded lovely. Everything was tiny- the bed, a shower you could hardly turn around in etc The Television did not work (just been cut off as digital had come in and they had not upgraded) , but no notification of this. The microwave would trip out after a minute and not work again for at least two more minutes. There were some kind of droppings in the cupboards containing the cutlery and crockery. The bathroom floor was really dirty and had broken louvers to add to the winter chill. Towels cost an extra $5 and not even soap was provided. A really disappointing experience.

Room Tip: Cabin 4 is a big NO

The park is old and looks it. The showers had plenty if hot water. The cabin was old.
It was fine for one night or if you were just sleeping there inbetween trips for more wine, wouldn't put it on the list to stay and relax though

Prevelly Caravan Park
“Drop in on the Simple Life”
Thank you to everyone who has written reviews on the Trip Advisor Website, some glowing some less than acceptable!
Here at Prevelly Caravan Park you can experience camping and a return to the simple life. We have powered and un-powered sites available, as well as simple, budget beach shack cottages, cabins and vans. We pride ourselves on remaining simple, affordable and offering people a very simple camping experience that brings us all back to the “Simple Life”. Our web site very clearly gives the impression of a 50’s style camping experience and our accommodation options are advertised as basic.
Prevelly Caravan Park has been described aptly by Tracks Magazine, The Surfers’ Bible, December 2011 and as seen quoted on our web site:
“… joints like the Home family’s Prevelly Store is the same as it ever was, a timeless classic, that dates back to 1953 and has kept countless surfers in fodder and plonk through the decades ….”
With the simple experience comes the best positioning , Prevelly Caravan Park provides the only camping experience in Margaret River offering a short stroll to the best beaches and close proximity to world class wineries.
We are continually streamlining our operations and procedures and can always improve on customer service and meeting the expectations of our guests. We value the feedback we receive from our guests and ask that perhaps more consultation be sought with management prior to responses being posted in haste.
Many of the complaints aired on this forum have been due to misunderstandings with our policies. Like every business we have polices in place with minimum night bookings, rates and registered numbers on sites allocated. Advance bookings and last minute bookings may vary in minimum night requirements and or rate variations. This is not usual and a very common business practice. Advance bookings cannot expect a refund due to last minute booking deals. For example if you purchased an item from a store and the following week it went on sale, you would not expect the retailer to provide you with a refund! Last minute bookings always run the risk of not securing a booking at all.
Prevelly Caravan Park is a family friendly camping destination, with a general store and liquor store on site and amazing beaches a short stroll away.
We welcome you to Prevelly Caravan Park and trust that you will enjoy returning to the simple life with us!

We had 53 people for the camp: 17 on un-powered sites, 8 on powered sites, 20 in cabins and 8 in cottages. All attending enjoyed the experience. There was good shade and plenty of room on the camp sites. The camp kitchen was clean and the toilets well managed and the showers had instant hot water. The store is very convenient and the staff were helpful and friendly.
The Association has plans to have other camps at Prevelly Caravan Park in the future.
