Holiday Inn Express Canterbury

This was our third visit to this hotel. Very helpful staff, good evening meal in the restaurant (always left too early the next day for breakfast) and the rooms are spotless and comfortable. The design of the bathroom, using one door to be both the door from the room into the bathroom, but also doubling as the internal door to the loo, thus isolating the toilet if someone is in the shower, is a design masterpiece - brilliant use of space and very clever. More hotels should try it! Will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, away from any possible traffic noise, and with a good view of the bunnie...

The hotel was convenient for Canterbury (by car) although the trip from the wrong side of the dual carriage way is a bit of a trek up and around to get to the other side. Good clean and well kept room and public areas, staff very polite and helpful, food was ok. The shower in our room was great but as with many hotels, the staff need to learn how to make a bed properly, we had to remake ours each night. The only other small negative was the free Wi Fi kept dropping out.

If you are to visit Canterbury this is an ideal location, being just 5 minutes from the Centre. Good room with a good restaurant. Usual breakfast, self service with powdered egg the only moan.
Staff all very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear as there is road noise from the A2.

We have stayed here on a few occasions as we have family in Canterbury. All the staff here are really friendly & polite. The rooms are spotless, we have always asked for a quiet room & have never been dissapointed. My daughter has enjoyed watching all the rabbits come out in the evening from our room window! Great value for money & the help yourself breakfast is included, fruit, cereals, yoghurt, croissants, juices, sausage, egg, beans & a lovely coffee machine. It was very busy when we were there & the breakfast area was a bit chaotic at times!! We would highly recommend this hotel and it's very near to the city centre which is beautiful. Unfortunately due to our kids age we have now outgrown the family rooms, it's a shame there aren't any rooms with a double & twin beds as it's too expensive to book 2 rooms. We will miss staying here, thanks to all the staff.

Room Tip: Ask if any quiet rooms are available.

This is our second visit to this hotel and it had the same staff as last year. They were efficient, friendly and polite. It is good to see that all the staff muck in and help each other even when it means clearing the crockery away! The food was good and we had a nice room overlooking the woods so it was peaceful and we enjoyed the sound of the birds! We even had a personalised welcome letter this time which was a nice touch. Hope to return again.

Canterbury is one of those locations where hotel accommodation can cost a fortune. The Holiday Inn Express is a good option for those looking to stay at a more reasonable cost.

The location, about 10 mins drive outside the city centre, may not be the most appealing, hid behind a petrol station on the A2. Don't expect scenic views here but the double glazing in the rooms cuts out most of the busy road noise.

Check in was somewhat cold and clinical - with the receptionist saying 'I suppose you want to check in' but after that odd welcome it was an efficient check in.

The rooms themselves are of the old Holiday Inn Express design, rather than the more recent refurbished hotels in the chain but are clean, bright and well furnished. The bathrooms are small but again clean and well maintained.

Wifi is free in the rooms but make sure you get a voucher at check in, if not you will need to return to reception for the code.

The only gripe was that there is no temperature control in the room, just a wall heater. This wasn't working in my room, but the weather was fine so wasn't needed.

An early departure meant breakfast wasn't used so can't comment on the food and beverage options at the hotel.

A good hotel that provides real alternative from the more expensive offerings in the city centre.

Room Tip: Double glazing works but if you really want to avoid noise from the A2 ask for a room at the back of...

The location is not the best... But apart from that, there is little to criticise at this price. The rooms are comfy and you are offered different pillows (soft or firm). They offer (for free) to supply little things you may have forgotten, such as toothpaste. The internet connection is also free. Check in was efficient, the room was clean and the shower was powerful. Breakfast was a little chaotic and it's not great quality, but at this price it's hard to complain.
