A group of us visited this family run vineyard which opened specially for us. This is not a big commercial undertaking, but an intensely personal family business with grandchildren continuing the work started by their grandfather. The views are spectacular and the wine delicious. Other things for sale are all locally produced by small entrepreneurs. Altogether a very satisfying experience, and good luck with the future plans.
We visited Alder vineyard in April as a group of 4 friends. We had a lovely tour with Sarah and tried some of their wine and gin after the tour. Sarah is really friendly and we had such a lovely day walking round the vineyard. Thank you for helping us celebrate our friends 30th birthday in such a lovely way.
Lovely to hear such kind words from your visit, was a pleasure showing you around our slice of Devon.
Great to see a family enterprise producing wonderful wine.
Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon concluding with a generous tasting for only £5 and we could take our dog with us!
It was great to meet you! Thank you for your kind words
We made a flying visit to this vineyard following a couple of nights spent at the fabulous Lobhill Farmhouse B&B. We enjoyed time with Sarah tasting the wine and learning much about the production and history of the vineyard. Needless to say, we came away with some fantastic wine (and some Dartmoor Gin). We cannot wait to return when we have more time as we want to take advantage of the full vineyard tour. Thank once again Sarah.
Glad you enjoyed your wine and visit. The gin is far too tempting! we look forward to showing you around on a full tour soon.
We visited yesterday afternoon, and were shown around the vineyards with Tom. It was very informative. We then went to the shop and were given a wine tasting by Sarah. It was a very relaxing afternoon, in a great setting, looking out over Dartmoor. We bought a bottle of the rose to drink at home. Best wishes for your future development.
We visited as a group from our local wine circle by prior arrangement and had opted for the vineyard tour and tasting to be followed by some local produce refreshments. From the outset of making the arrangements Sarah was most helpful and communicative, even adapting to a change in our numbers at the last minute.
We were welcomed by Sarah and after a short introduction were taken on a tour of the vineyard by her son Tom and Adam, who designed the logos and labels. The history of the vineyard together with their plans for expansion in the future our members all found very interesting. The south facing slopes are in a delightful setting with views away to the edge of Dartmoor.
On our return to the shop we tasted the wine, which certainly did not disappoint, as well as investigating the range of other local produce which was available. Even a teetotaler could find something there to tempt the palate. After we sat at picnic tables at the back of the house to enjoy local charcuterie, cheeses, and breads, plus olives and another glass or two of wine. Finally coffee was served with samples of locally made fudges and chocolate. The whole site has been most tastefully developed and it was a perfect setting to enjoy the glorious Devon countryside on a warm summer evening.
