Very friendly staff who were efficient and helpful.
Really good food, especially breakfast.
Great selection of beers, spirits, etc in a relaxing bar with nice decor - not too chintzy, not too trendy.
Nice area with walks from the door.
Room was ok - for the price charged it was pretty small and I was surprised that we were not offered an upgrade as we were the only people staying. But good bed linen and comfortable mattress - unfortunately it was one of those brass headboards which look nice but are really uncomfortable if you want to sit up and lean against it to read in bed. The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom and had a good bath and shower.
I would definitely go back if I was in the area and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Room 5 has a nice bath and is at the back of the building so probably the quietest as away from the...

I can't reveal what the locals call Shepton Mallet but it is appropriately named! So I would say that if you find yourself in the area, stay at the Oakhill Inn which is an informal, friendly and relaxed place to be. We had a lovely room with a wonderful bathroom (no face flannels - how is one to guess in advance when packing?). The evening meal was delicious, though some might say the menu was rather limited (it was a Sunday evening) and the breakfast was great. Home-made sausages were a little dry but the black pudding which normally I do not like was very tasty. The staff were professional and low-key. Just right.

We (and dog!) were given a warm welcome by delightful staff . The room was lovely and light -spotlessly clean, with pristine white bed linen, and cosy bed. And a shower that worked! The food, was exceptional. Fish cakes, and chips to die for! We lingered over dinner and enjoyed a very good merlot! Breakfast was served by the charming chef, - even the bread and jam was made by him. We would recommend Oakhill to everyone, as a place to relax. Nothing was too much trouble, and being able to take our dog was the icing on the cake! Thank you.

Room Tip: We had room 5 which was very quiet, and had a great view of the church, and surrounding countryside...

....and, importantly, not just for middle-aged couples like us There were all ages staying and dining and drinking at this lovely Somerset inn, just half an hour from Bath. We loved the spacious airy dining room and it's eclectic mix of classic furnishings. Our bed was huge and very comfortable, as was the bathroom. But for us, it's the food and the service that makes a place and the Oakhill Inn delivers. The breakfasts, with home made sourdough bread, creamy scrambled egg and smoked salmon set us up for the day; and at dinner the wild boar with rich red wine jus was excellent. The staff were truly hospitable. We stayed here for three nights at the end of April and were very well looked after.

We came across The Oakhill Inn after 3hours looking for a last minute overnight stay Nr Bristol on the internet. From our initial phone call and booking we felt we had found something special and we were really looking forward to our stay. All the staff were delightful and very helpful. The room was very comfortable and shower excellent. The decor throughout was really lovely and we hope to stay again. Our evening meal and breakfast the following morning was excellent and would definately recommend. Sometimes it's so rewarding to find a gem of a place...

Room Tip: Room 5 was great.

A spur of the moment decision resulted in finding this wonderful inn. A very welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave. The bedroom was a good size, extremely clean and the bedding was soft and comfortable.
The food in the restaurant was high quality, the wine list extremely reasonable and the service un-rushed. We will definitely be going back. A fantastic find.
