The Wild Goose Lodge met our requirements extremely well for my 40th Birthday gathering! During planning we search high and low for a place that would accept the number of people (both adults and kids) and the number of dogs - the WGL hit the mark spot on!

Great value, clean, good bar and games room and a great location for walk to clear the head from the night before!

Judging by the comments of some of my friends we'll be back to WGL to celebrate some more birthdays in the not too distant future!

Many thanks to all!

Thank you for leaving this review. I just wanted to take the time to invite you to have a look at our new website and online booking system. We are constantly updating the premises and you can now choose which room you stay in after looking at the photos on line!
Sadly, due to dog owners who have NOT been as responsible as your group was, we have now had to say that we can no longer accommodate dogs which I know is disappointing.
Please do contact us if we can be of any help in the future.

The Wild Goose Lodge - a wonderful place to retreat to. We have recently enjoyed a relaxed time with family and friends coming together to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday. The accommodation exceeded expectations; it was clean, comfortable and, as sole-use occupiers, there was more than enough space for everybody.
Grace and Ola were extremely helpful; making us feel at home straightaway. Prior to the event, we visited the lodge on two occasions to check out the facilities and ask a list of questions. Both Grace and Ola answered all our queries and help us to plan with confidence.
We used the self-catering kitchen for some meals, it is well-equipped and met all our needs.
The roast chicken dinner prepared by Ola and Grace was superb and very good value for money.
Our guests made good use of the games room and the bar/lounge. The young children used the outdoor space to play games in the sunshine. The canal walks proved popular and Slimbridge Wildfowl Wetlands Centre is also recommended (they sometimes do special deals for children).
Overall, we would highly rate The Wild Goose Lodge...just watch out for Bruce, the Wild Goose!

Room Tip: All rooms have been newly decorated to a pleasing standard. There are several different room config...

Thank you for leaving your review. The Lodge has been under new management for a couple of years and we would like to invite you to visit our new website and online booking system. There have been quite a few on-going changes, one of which is that we no longer have a bar in the lounge. However, we are still licensed and can sell/and or allow guests to buy and bring their own drinks. If there is anything we can help you with in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.

I stayed at the Wild Goose Lodge for two nights while attending a training course at WWT Slimbridge Wetlands.

I was a little dubious about the quality to expect as I was only paying £20 a night plus £6.50 for my breakfast, however I was worrying for no reason!!

I was staying in alone in a twin room and had use of shared toilet and showers. The room was absolutely immaculate, including behind the beds and draws as were the toilets and showers. With the window open you can hear the waterfowl at the wetlands half a mile down the road, it was lovely to stay somewhere with hardly any noises you'd associate with busy town/city life!

Although there is no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, you do have the use of a communal kitchen where tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fresh milk are provided, there is also a fridge for if you wish to store your own food and you have full use of the cooker and microwave should you wish to make your own meals, or you can choose to have your evening meal provided (I didn't but other guests spoke well of the food provided). There is a communal TV room and also a bar which opens each evening, I chose not to use them but I was happy and slightly amazed that I couldn't hear them from my room.

I had a great night's sleep, despite being in the room next to the communal showers/toilets and although the Wild Goose is used frequently by contractors working locally (who are very friendly) they are surprisingly considerate of the other guests in the mornings! :)

Breakfast was a full cooked breakfast with fresh juice and tea/coffee and a fantastic way to start the day. You choose what time you wish to have and what time the day before and it is ready within minutes of sitting down!

I had a fabulous stay, the staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable and I would definitely choose the Wild Goose if I need to stay in the area again!! :)

We have been staying at the wild goose lodge monday to wednesday since a week before christmas. I have to say that the rooms are absolutely immaculate. Some rooms have en suite and thebothers hage communal bathrooms, however even the communal bathrooms are so clean and well kept. The staff are so friendly and unbelievably helpful. The food is completely home cooked and of fantastic quality, I recommend the chicken and leek pie. The facilities downstairs are of high quality also, the bar area is cosy with a cosy real fire, there is a pool table. There is a kitchen if you wish to cook yourself, I have'nt used the kitchen as the food has been of such a high standard but it appears to be very clean with all u could wish to use. Overall I would recommend staying here to absolutely everyone, whether you are a contractor, looking to see the local wildlife or just passing through, well worth a visit !!!!!!!!

We stayed at Wild Goose Lodge for two nights 31st December 2013 and 1st January 2014 for a New Years celebration!
We were 10 families and a few extra teenagers and the lodge was ideal, the teenagers loved sharing the bunk rooms and the rest of us shared the other refurbished rooms, which I must say have been done to a very high standard.
We catered for ourselves on New Years Eve and the staff left us to enjoy our party, but were on hand when we needed anything, even finding some white linen tablecloths for us!
Then on New Year's Day evening when we were all feeling a little jaded, we had a lovely roast prepared and served to us by the staff.
The team were very helpful, from the booking process to the stay itself and we would certainly recommend Wild Goose Lodge for a large group of friends or family and we hope to return again for a future celebration.
