With Royal status and a green fee of 65 EUR I was hoping for more. Here are the key points;
- New clubhouse with good facilities
- Greens were generally ok but very small on average compared to UK course
- The layout was dull with the course being on a flat terrain and fairways/tees crossed each other on a number of occasions
- Forgiving course, wayward balls will generally be found easily
- 17th was closed and the 18th shortened with a temporary tee (not mentioned on booking)
- Best parts were the weather and the hole names
- Rental clubs offered an option between regular and "Upgraded" - both of which were just about adequate to play

What I saw was a British Ex-pat community at the club and this course suits that perfectly with the shorter distances and forgiving nature of the course.

“Little Jewel”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

Recently was in Malta for a conference and grabbed a chance to play the only course on the island and boy was I suprised ! A short but beautifully presented course, with many authentic local features, the Royal Malta Golf Club is truly a hidden gem. The members have recently built a brand new clubhouse with magnificent views over the course with an excellent catering offer and great service. If you get the chance to visit Malta be sure to make time in your schedule to book a round at this club.

“Over Priced”

I visit the course every summer if it was'nt because i was a guest with a member i dont think that i would've played. As much as I love golf.I work at Humber Valley in Toronto which is a bigger course and very well maintained and the green fee is only $49 cdn.Its a very reasonable price and the most important thing it generates a great revenue .Maybe you will take it in consideration.Other than that i think ita a decent course.

“the best course in Malta, service is key”
Reviewed 15 July 2010

well it is the only one actually but matters not Golf is the key. I thought it was a little overpriced at 60 euro for the round but they do have a captive market, I also thought that wanting 10 euro to park in the grounds was a bit ott, however that is because the course forms part of a wider sports complex so it is not down just to the course. Anyway free parking outside the barrier and about a 300 yard walk to the clubhouse which is under renovation. I had booked a 9am tee many months ago which had been moved due to a club comp, this was to my benefit as it was a shot gun so I teed off into an empty course. The 1st and 2nd are tough +400 par fours, no easy start, this is followed by three par three's which could also be described as a nest of vipers. The 4th confused me until I saw the green and flag through a brick archway which made it very different, you stike over this. The 6th, a par 5 takes you to the end of the course there is then a bit of up and down play until the 12th a nice short par 4 with a tricky green. The 13th is a reachable par 5 with a good wind, 14 a tough +200 par three. 16, 17 and 18 all short par 4's could give up birdie opportunities, unless like me you hook your drive on 16 down the storm drain! I had booked another round and had enjoyed the first so came back again, I was delighted to get another good run but desperately disapointed when seven of the greens were now temporary. Having managed to get one of those birdies on the 18th that I hadn't got on 16th x 2, 17th x 2 or 18th x 1 I decided to complain about paying the same fee for 11 proper holes. To complete a very satisfactory visit the lady in the pro - shop apologised and gave me a 25% refund, good customer service will always get you a good review.Play and enjoy.
