“A hideaway overlooking the bay”
Reviewed 4 October 2012

We were told that this hotel would be 'tired' but we found it anything but. From the moment we were greeted by helpful reception staff and offered free WiFi, we knew our stay would be enjoyable. Our room was clean with plenty of storage space and well looked after by room service. The breakfasts (and the chef who cooked the omelettes) you could die for, sat at our table with a panoramic view of the bay. Lots of quiet places to read, contemplate, just relax. Drinks were very reasonable with a roof top bar open well into the evening. The hotel was ideally situated for restaurants and cafes, and the excellent local buses.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the sea

We have been visiting Gozo since 1974 and have found the Calypso to be the best hotel on the island in our opinion. The staff are very accommodating, and friendly. The rooms are very clean and well furnished, including a TV and fridge. There are plenty of sun beds, large umbrellas by the rooftop splash pool. Pool towels are also available from reception for a small refundable deposit
Marsalforn has a lovely small sandy beech, a fishing harbour 3 supermarkets, a pharmacy and a good selection of gift shops. You are also only a 10 minute bus ride from the capital Victoria
There are plenty of dive shops but I believe the Calypso dive shop to be the best. Snorkelling in the bay is also very good.
We shall definitely be returning next year for three weeks in September

Spent 8-25th September 2012 here on a B+B basis. I had the BBQ on Saturday night which was only 15 euros for BB guests. Definitely best meal and best value on island. Buffet was fresh, limitless everything from steak, anti-pasta, soup, salad, chilli, etc etc etc +++ desserts and I've traveled in 33 countries.

Breakfast was all encompassing, freshly made personalised omelettes at request, sausages, egg etc but the cold cuts/cheeses and fresh fruit/salad was still being filled at 0950 despite breakfast ending at 1000. You can see the Italian influence in the food and the Maltese influence in the service.

Fresh, clean and non-invasive friendly atmosphere. Linen, towels etc changed daily and floor/surfaces cleaned every day. 1min 40 seconds from beach. I only knock off points for no gym and small pool but plenty of sunbeds despite the hotel being full. A gentle place to stay.
Downsides small rooftop pool and no gym. Would definitely stay here again after seeing other hotels in Marsalforn.

Room Tip: The beach and harbour is right outside the hotel. Why pay more when 2 mins takes you outside to a gr...

We've just returned from a weeks holiday at this wonderful hotel. The room though a bit tired in places was spotlessly clean and bed lined crisp and fresh. There was an added bonus of free wifi in the bedrooms and both two and three pin electric points. The staff were excellent and service first class. The food was wonderful with a good selection and the waiting staff could not do enough for you. Paying extra for a sea view is well worth the little bit extra. We would not hesitate in returning there.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must with a lovely view over the harbour.

A lovely hotel. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and the furnture looks new. The hotel is in the perfect location overlooking the pretty harbour of Marsalforn and is surrounded by excellent restaurants. The sunbathing area is quite small and there aren't many sunbeds but being on the roof gets the sun all day - there is a small plunge pool to cool off in.
We went on a B&B basis and there was a good selection for breakfast.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be going back

Room Tip: We had an inland room that overlooked the building behind but as we were out diving all day this was...

The rooms sold as Bay View rooms look straight at an adjacent apartment block! You can see the beach if you lean off your balcony but trying to lean out to see the bay would be too dangerous!

These are town view rooms at best.
