What an absolutely charming experience it was staying with Anne, Rainer and their spirited dog.

The location is quiet, beautiful and serene - overlooking Gweebarra Bay.

My room was clean and comfortable. The en suite was really nice, too.

Breakfast was outstanding and the conversation with the hosts....superb.

Anne is such a dear, sweet person. Full of interesting anecdotes and observations of Ireland as an expat.

My only mistake was booking just one night, since you really need a few days to adequately explore the surrounding area.

I made a friend with Anne and I look forward to visiting Eagle's Nest in the future and spending more time in Donegal.

Thanks for a splendid stay, Anne and Rainer.

- Ken

We stayed at Eagles Nest last weekend. We needed to go to Donegal to meet some friends and generally find it hard to find a nice place at reasonable cost. We were a family of two adults and four children. We found the place to be a dream. Anne and Rainer run the bed and breakfast. They are both from Germany and a nicer chattier couple you will not find. Their house is lovely and has a tasteful German touch which is so refreshing. The house is located on the south side of the Gweebarra Bay and has superb sea views across the bay. The house has a dog a cat chickens and a roster. The children loved this aspect. Breakfast in the morning was leisurely and had a great selection of food. We were trilled we found this bed and breakfast and hope to go back soon. Well done Anne and Rainer.

Room Tip: the bed and breakfast is small in the number of rooms it has. all rooms look towards the sea.

A beautiful location overlooking the sea and run by two absolutely charming people. Anne and Rainer did everything possible to make our stay very pleasant. We booked the self-catering apartment and in truth were a bit concerned about the kitchen facilities. The problem was immediately solved by Anne saying we could use anything from her kitchen, including the kitchen itself. Breakfast was excellent and eaten overlooking the sea; a great way to start the day. Don't be put off by the lane to the property just don't drive too fast. I would definitely recommend this hidden treasure.

We went to Co. Donegal for our holidays and stayed in the Eagle’s Nest for a while.
We chose this B&B for several reasons:
1. This is a dog friendly accommodation. I mean real dog friendly, not like some other places call themselves "dog friendly" and you can only bring a small dog or you need to pay extra. We traveled with our German shepherd and our dog was very welcomed. Owners have 2 dogs themselves, so our dog had a great time.
2. B&B is located in the country, so this is a good place to have contact with nature, stay away from big cities.
3. It is in the “middle” of the county, so quite close to all attractions in any direction.

The B&B is nice, clean and hosts are nice people. They tried the best to make our time enjoyable. We stayed in the apartment with own entrance, which was handy. This apartment has living room, bathroom and small kitchen downstairs and double bedroom upstairs. However, it is very hard to use upstairs bedroom as a ceiling is very low, so it would only suit very small people. We used a bed downstairs, which was really comfy.
The kitchen is fully equipped, has everything you need, cooker, fridge, pans, plates, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and much more.
Some people said in their reviews that it was hard to find this place. I think the directions on their website are very good and if you check map before you go, it is easy to find them. We didn’t have a problem, there are few signs on the way as well. However, to make a life easier these are exact GPS coordinates to B&B: 54.844397,-8.337532.

There is lovely sandy beach, with beautiful views, just 5 mins drive from B&B. It’s not crowded, so you can enjoy nice walks, silence and peace.
Dungloe is 10-11km from B&B, you can find Aldi, Lidl, SuperValu there and also banks, shops and church. There is only one local shop very close to B&B, but it’s more expensive if you want to buy food on regular basis, and also the selection is not that good. So it is better to drive to Dungloe and make a big shopping in Lidl/Aldi.

From B&B it takes around 1h to get to Glenveagh National Park, over 1h to drive to Slieve League cliffs and around 2h to Inishowen.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, hosts are nice people, but we think there is some room for improvement to make this B&B even better. There are some issues we noted:
1. Irish breakfast took too long to prepare, every day we had to wait 20-30 minutes. In other B&B we stayed in took no more than 10min.
2. There is only one big table in dining room, so few times we didn’t have space when we arrived for breakfast. We had to wait then approx. 30min the previous guests finish their breakfast and then another 30 min for breakfast. I suggest have few smaller tables instead of one, so it would be easier to accommodate guests arriving at different times for breakfast.
3. Hosts need to pay attention to full bins in rooms. Our bin was full and wasn’t emptied, so I need to ask where I can dispose garbage. It never happened in other B&B. We don’t require hosts to clean rooms, but everywhere we went, we didn’t have to worry about garbage.
4. When we arrived the fridge was full of ice, so would be nice to have it clean and ready before next guests arrive. Because of ice, space in the fridge was limited and ice melted so water was all over our food.
5. Finally, there is still some work going on behind the house. Because of that, there are no clear parking spaces on property. Would be nice to have this sorted.

In summary, we had a nice time in Co. Donegal. Would I come back to Eagle Nest? I'm not sure, I think I would probably find different place to stay another time.

Eagle's Nest is the best B&B I've been so far. Anne is the nicest person and brilliant hostess. Rooms are very clean and everything is in harmony. All details in the rooms make you feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast was delicious and I could also buy few jars of my favourite rose petal jelly! You can also get variety of home made jams :)
The place is very close to marvellous beach with white sandy dunes. It's just behind the Gweebra Bridge so it's easy to find, It is also close to Ardara and Dungloe.
I will definitely come back another time for few days to enjoy landscapes, white beaches and Anne's hospitality :)
