This isn't the first time I have visited but the first time I have reviewed this restaurant. Ir-rizzu has been consistently great not only in food but in service, atmosphere, and hygiene. Located on the marsaxlokk waterfront, rizzu offers a wide range of home grown products including meat fish and pasta amongst many. Service was friendly and prompt although it is recommended that one makes a reservation as the place gets pretty full pretty quickly.

Now, the food. Me and another member had pork medallions which were cooked to perfection and covered in a sauce at extra cost. Another member had the octopus and complimented it greatly. As well as this you are welcomed with a basket of Maltese bread and a plate full of appetisers. This is all cooked in front of a live kitchen which although a minor detail, makes all the difference in serving up a pleasant atmosphere. Its costly but worth every last cent.

I am not a fish lover but If you are , Rizzu is the place to go. Advance booking is a must. Portions are generous.

If you visit Malta, don't miss a stop in Marsaxlokk on Sunday morning. it is an old fishing village with many Luzzi (Luzzu = Maltese traditional boats). Here, in front of promenade, you'll find this restaurant. I went there several time, never disappointed! Although the restaurant is large, it is always crowded, so it's better to reserve a table in advance, especially on Sunday at lunch. The fish is fresh, the portions large and the price reasonable. They have a good choice of wines as well. The kitchen is open, that it always a good mark so you can have a look at food and cooks. The service is sometimes slow but the waiters are friendly and welcoming.

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend a while back and was taking some visiting family to try Maltese caught fish in Mxlokk. Unfortunately, every dish we ordered was cooked terribly.
My mother and boyfriend took the fried and calamari in sauce. The calamari was rubbery and tasteless - the most disappointing.
I had local fish steak and it was tasteless, overcooked and dry - I'm not fussy with food but I couldn't eat it. The side potatoes and vegetables we ordered were terrible. The potatoes were cooked in spices that didn't suit the taste of the fish and the vegetables were over-boiled frozen vegetables from a packet.
Highly disappointed.
The service was OK, but considering we were only two of the tables there and there was an abundance of staff - was still a bit slow.
