“Great property in lovely fishing village location”
Reviewed 5 August 2017 for a stay in January 2017

This was our second stay at Encanto and I have been meaning to review for some time now! The ground floor apartment is incredibly spacious, with a super modern kitchen that I really loved (and a table ir eating) and great decor throughout. It is light and airy and has Wi-Fi and a TV with comfortable sofas. The kitchen is so well equipped we sometimes stayed in of an evening - something we'd not want to do in many holiday apartments.
There is a large shower room (larger than my entire kitchen back home!) and an en suite shower room in the master bedroom. The decor in the master bedroom is really lovely - my favourite room! It's like a home away from home as everything you could need is there (and if it isn't the owners will do everything they can to get it for you!)
On our earlier trip here, there were 5 of us so one couple made use of the sofa bed in the lounge area. It's a great quality full size one and they were perfectly happy sleeping there.
The apartment is also in a very quiet location, so nothing disturbed us at night at all. It was a particularly (an unusually!) cold period when we visited, but the owners provided a dehumidifier and heater for that added warmth.
How lovely it is to live amongst the locals as well. Set on the edge of Marsaxlokk, it is just a short downhill walk to the promenade. There are many, many good restaurants and a nice Costa Coffee, but the highlight is the masses of traditional fishing boats and the beautiful church in the town square. On Sundays, there is an amazing market selling both fish and other wares. One can walk around the bay to the neighbouring village.
We hired a car (we arranged this in England, although the owners also said they could help with arranging that) and travelled to many attractions across Malta. There is a smallish supermarket (probably a couple) in Marsaxlokk, but with a car you can benefit from the Lidl just 5 mins drive away or further afield to one of the Hypermarkets. I know there are buses, but I am not so familiar with those as we didn't use. There is on street parking outside the apartment, or just around the corner.
I think this is a great option for a visit to Malta - the feeling that this feels like a home rather than a soulless holiday let really wins it for me. Malta itself has a wealth of attractions - must visit the UNESCO Heritage site of Valletta, the amazing hilltop town of Mdina (and visit the catacombs) Sliema for bars, cafes and shops, the blue grotto for a boat trip and get the ferry to Gozo for the day if you can. Often overlooked is the lovely town of Birgu which has plenty of character, a recently refurbished Fort and an opportunity to see the amazing yachts docked along the marina there.
I can't think of any negatives, and we have have booked to go back in November, so really looking forward to being there again!

The apartment was perfect for our stay. Not far from the main street so we could walk easily to the bus stop or shops. The location was very quiet. We had everything we needed supplied and if we had any questions, the owners were always ready to help..even picking us up from the airport when we came in after midnight!

Very happy with the apartment, the location and the village in general. The apartment was a little hard to find as the address does not come up on the GPS; however, the hosts were very accommodating and came to find us once we reached town.
We were travelling with two young children (1 and 3 yrs) and were provided with a cot, high chair and even toys which was the highlight for our kids.

Management Response
16 Jan 2015
Dear Justyna,
Thank you so much for your review. We were pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Encanto apartment and in Marsaxlokk.
As for the inconvenience and issues experienced with the transfer company, as we communicated to you privately, we made a complaint on your behalf and after investigating the issue the company apologised for the poor service, issued a refund to you and assured that it would not happen again for future guests.
We look forward to welcoming you back on the island.
All the best, Birgit (MaltaVillageHolidays)

“Well equipped apartment in a great location. Great value.”

My teenage daughter and I stayed at Encanto Holiday Accommodation for 7 nights towards the end of October.

Selecting and paying for this accommodation was made easy through the Trip Advisor site although there wasn't much of an interval between having to pay the deposit and settle the remainder. I had some queries about getting to the apartment and the facilities provided, all of which were answered promptly by the owner.

For an additional 20 euro fee, we were met at the airport by the owners father and driven directly to the apartment which was a great help as we arrived fairly late at night. I had asked for some milk to be provided for the obligatory cuppa on arrival and Benjimen duly provided that for us. The apartment was spotlessly clean when we arrived so all we had to do was relax for a short while and then turn in for a good nights sleep.

The apartment was incredibly spacious for just the two of us as we each had our own bedroom and bathroom. Everything we needed during the stay was provided including one beach towel apiece. We didn't eat in much, but the kitchen was fully equipped and we were able to easily cook a couple of meals whilst we were there. The bathrooms, especially the main shared one, were also fitted out well and there was plenty of hot water on tap whenever we needed it. Beds were comfy and sheets clean and there was plenty of storage space for unpacked clothes etc.

The location of the apartment was great. On the edge of the village, it was very quiet at night but was also very close to the centre of the village and local shops. As we traveled by bus most of the time we were there, and the main bus route to Valletta was only a few minutes walk away, we were able to get out and about with very little trouble. It was also only a 5 - 10 minute walk down to the lovely fishing port of Marsaxlokk which proved to be a bustling, interesting place to hang out during the day.

Perhaps the only downside was the building site a few doors down from the apartment. This wasn't too noisy for us as we went out most days but lorries delivering material to the building site in the morning were quite loud. Once the building work is finished though, this apartment should be quiet all day. Also, although there is a small patio are to the rear of the apartment, it isn't very scenic or conducive to sitting outside to relax. Big enough for BBQ's though if you don't mind bringing the food through the master bedroom.

All in all though, we had a great holiday in Malta and were very comfortable in this holiday apartment.

Liked best: The quiet location and yet being close to amenities
Liked least: Wi Fi didn't reach to the rear of the property and there was nowhere to sit outside and relax.

“Great apartment in a great location!”
Reviewed 6 February 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We stayed in this apartment in January with our 1 year old and had a great time. The flat is extremely spacious and has every appliance you could need, it was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The location is perfect, right on the edge of the village so completely silent even during the day, yet just a 5 minute stroll to the waterfront. Anson and Bernice the owners were great, they were able to provide a cot and high chair for a very small cost and when our car hire fell through they kindly sorted a replacement for us. Marsaxlokk is a great place to stay, quiet and relaxed, no high rise development here, yet with lots of great restaurants and plenty of shops if your self catering. So if you're planning a trip to Malta, come to Marsaxlokk and most importantly stay at Encanto!
