“Great Lunch Venue”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

Travelled down on local the bus via Valetta and walked along the bay with its array of restaurants and market stalls. The bay is mostly picturesque (albeit the power station on the horizon) but this does not detract too much from its views, especially with the numerous colourful little fishing boats bobbing about in the bay. We enjoyed an excellent fish lunch in one of the waterfront venues and were just able to watch the world drift by for a couple of hours. We went midweek so the village probably not so busy as the weekend, but well worth the journey and a good spot to spend a couple of hours. Not too much off the main street to visit, but if you enjoy good fish it is worth it for that.

“Lovely fishing village”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

It's said to be a fishing village and looks like one, too, but I believe it' more of a tourist attraction now and a splendid one at that. You can see some old chaps fighting over how to lower a boat onto the water like they certainly have been doing for decades. Many ships are moored in the bay. Restaurants offer a great selection of foods at affordable prices right next to the water. Too bad there is an ugly powerplant in the middle of the view if you look out to the sea. Maltese authorities did not think this through properly back in the day, I guess.

A bit hard to find but got there by car. Lots of stalls selling the usual market stall goods, shoes, clothes as well as fruit, fish honey etc. lots of lovely boats in the harbour well worth a visit if you like markets.

“Pretty little harbour with an ugly power station.”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

The bay is very pretty with lots of colourful, traditional fishing boats bobbing in the water, set against the backdrop of a lovely Maltese village & church. Look the other way and there's an ugly great power station. The Maltese do seem to have a knack of sticking dirty industry in lovely places.

The numerous cafés & restaurants do some really good seafood and the usual selection of pasta, pizza, salds etc.

The market is nothing special - pretty much cheap clothing, souvenirs, cakes and the fish section. If you go exepcting to see stalls of Maltese crafts, traditional stuff etc, you'll be disappointed. And it's all packed up by 1:30pm.

Perosnally I'd go during the week as on the Sunday we went it was busy. Unless you really want to go to the market, but you'll see the same stuff in the Valetta market place every day.

“Lovely Fishing Village to visit”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

A beautiful Fishing village to visit with a lot of the tradition Maltese fishing Boats still in the Bay. had a little market on the day we went which was good to visit on the Quay. The promenade sweeps right round the village front and is fronted by a good number of cafe/Restaurants and you get a fabulous view across the bay. Well worth the visit and the walk round and a stop for a drink and may be something to eat on the front, we could imagine the fish would be very fresh as we saw it coming off the boats.
