The best place in malta. There is also fine restaurants and the area is picturesque! There is also a nice view on the bastions. There is also great museums and the cathedral is also very medieval.

Just walking on our own in the city didn't really make our day, but then we took a ride with a horse-carriage, and the guy told us stories about the houses and their owners past and present and the city came alive for us.

We went early on a Saturday morning, many of the tour groups come in about 10am when the gift shops open. Very clean and quiet and the shops mostly sell good quality, locally made products at reasonable prices.
Also worth understanding the history of the place, being the original, walled stronghold capital of the island. Very picturesque, there are also karruzzin (horse-drawn carriages) which can be hired to take you from one end of the very small town, to the other.

We visited this with one of the group visits and found the city too crowded and noisy so we decided to go back on our own by bus and on a sunday. when we got there we found it so peaceful with very few people about. Everything was open. We visited the Templar museum and found this fantastic and very informative . Then we visited the dungeons and found this very interesting. Overall a nice peaceful visit and recommend you go on your own the public buses are so easy to travel on or use the services provided in the hotel

I would really love to come back there again to get lost in those narrow streets and experience the former capital of Malta. That is the town that inspired me already and I am looking forward to coming back to explore it even better. True old town with its spirit.
