Rocca Nettuno suites

The suites are very spacious and recently refurbished to quite a high standard, although the retro 70's decor might not be to everyone's taste. Maid service was good and eveything was very clean and tidy when we arrived. We asked for a double bed but got the usual twins pushed together and didn't realise till the last day that they actually have zips to put them together so you may need to ask. There were only 2 of us but the sofa in the lounge would be Ok for extra people sleeping if you didn't mind having to going through it to the bathroom however for sitting on it is not at all comfortable. Also the beautiful large TV is no use at all because it only shows the news channnel in English and there is no DVD (even though the description on late rooms says there is). So if you were fancying a quiet night in with a bottle of wine take the scrabble! There are one or two irritations such as the very odd shower arrangement where the shower holder is at waist level so you either have to sit down or hold it in one hand all the time and having to wash plates and cups in the bathroom sink. Generally there is everything you need toaster, microwave, kettle etc for making yourself breakfast or snacks but not for full scale self catering. N.B. previous reviews made reference to laterooms offering complimentary breakfast which the hotel does not honour and this is still the case. We asked the reception staff to follow this up with laterooms but they never got back to us. This is a convenient spot from which to explore the island. The suites are located on a quiet back street just a two minute walk from the main promenade where you can find the ferry or buses to Valetta. The local buses go all over the island and are very cheap and there are also the open top bus' hop on hop off' tours so you don't really need a car. There are pizza/pasta type restaurants and many coffee bars locally and a good supermarket in the new shoppng centre 'The Point'. The food on site is well presented and reasonably priced but unexciting. We found excellent restaurants in the nearby Fortina Hotel and Spa open to non-residents (save your discount voucher from the ferry) and also went in their bar many evenings where they have live music and dancing 9-11 pm. Overall we had a great time and felt the Rocca was appropriate for quite an active week of sightseeing and was value for money for the price we paid.

I got my jacket stolen in the room, and the managers only answer was: "what do you want me to do about it?" he is not answering emails and when we visited he wasn´t very friendly.

DO NOT GO THERE!

We booked this hotel based on reviews here. At first, we were happy. It is clean, new and reasonablly priced. The suite was a 2 roomed one, twin beds pushed together for us and sofa beds for the kids in seperate room to ours. The bathroom was clean, plenty of towels and hot water.. Our beds were ok.. not very comfy. The toilet was also very uncomfortable!! There were no English channels (not even MTV which is shown in every cafe / restaurant!) on the TV. The kitchenette was equipped with microwave, fridge, kettle and basic delph but no sink ro rinse dishes! Odd. Our biggest disappointment was midway through the week. My daughters sweater was stolen (had to have been by hotel staff since we left it in room that morning and it was gone upon return) The hotel did NOTHING to help, no followup at all. Zero effort. The reception are not very friendly. Even the safe in the room didnt work. From then we didnt feel secure leaving our belongings there and it tainted the trip for our kid. There is a restaurant downstairs but we never ate there.. there was never anyone there! We did have coffee and croissants one morning brought to room. Malta itself is lovely, the food cheap and people nice. This hotel is new and overall worth the money (we have stayed all over the world so it is economical and clean) but you do get what you pay for!

We were extremely happy with this hotel. The location is minutes away from the Valletta ferry and buses. The view from the rooms was not very scenic, but located on a quiet street. Rooms were huge, had a balcony and a small kitchen. Very modern. Reception friendly and helpful. Hotel has a restaurant with hot breakfast. I plan to return to this hotel the next time I visit Malta.

If I had to do it all again, I would choose Rocca again and again, It was perfect for our 4 night stay. We went as one couple, and 2 other females. Me and my husband stayed in the bedroom, which compromises of two single beds pushed together (which i have found quite common in Europe) bed was comfortable, pillows were nice. I'm a clean freak, and the hotel room was definately up to standard, some minor hitches but nothing worth complaining about. Compared to many hotels I read reviews on and actually saw on my travels in Malta, Rocca is definately a hidden gem in Sliema, the location is perfect to travel around and see Malta, a bus journey to Golden Bay from Sliema is roughly about 45 mins. The beautiful view of Valetta from the Strand is breathtaking! The bus and ferry terminals are a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There are many places to eat, drink and shop! We had breakfast and an evening meal at the hotel, prices are reasonable and food was very tasty! The chef happily altered the meals to cater to our individual needs, Staff were overall very helpful and friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great location in Sliema on a quiet street that is minutes from the buzz of the seafront. We had a suite which was amazing value for money. Huge room with separate bedroom, bathroom plus living area with microwave, huge fridge, toaster, new air conditioning and water heater.Lovely roof top balcony with nice view over Sliema and Valetta. I will stay there again.

On Malta the Mellieha area remains my favorite, with great walks on Marfa ridge and the climb to town. With the ancient busses only going to heaven around July next year, getting to and from the east and south of the island by public transport, however enjoyable, takes half a day. Hence I looked for a suitable place in Sliema and ended up in a superb location at a bargain rate. Rocca Nettuno Suites has so many unique features I find it hard to list them in proper order, I’ll leave the choice to you. The early morning walk to the edge of Paceville along one of the finest boulevards in Europe. Just 200 m from Tower Road, with supermarket, newspaper shop and internet / telephone cafe right there. A bedroom of proportions reserved for the very rich. For the smoking addicts (yes, it includes me), without any hindrance to non smokers, just step outside and table and ashtray are provided; don’t forget to take the morning coffee along too. Furniture and fittings somewhat kitschy, since the place was opened only a few months ago they will survive your stay. As with many newly opened places having to find their place on the tourism market, bargain rates for in this case great luxury. Located in a quiet street but near all the action. Just one concern, you probably also have to return to more moderate quarters, including less fine weather and surroundings.
