The suites are very spacious and recently refurbished to quite a high standard, although the retro 70's decor might not be to everyone's taste. Maid service was good and eveything was very clean and tidy when we arrived. We asked for a double bed but got the usual twins pushed together and didn't realise till the last day that they actually have zips to put them together so you may need to ask. There were only 2 of us but the sofa in the lounge would be Ok for extra people sleeping if you didn't mind having to going through it to the bathroom however for sitting on it is not at all comfortable. Also the beautiful large TV is no use at all because it only shows the news channnel in English and there is no DVD (even though the description on late rooms says there is). So if you were fancying a quiet night in with a bottle of wine take the scrabble! There are one or two irritations such as the very odd shower arrangement where the shower holder is at waist level so you either have to sit down or hold it in one hand all the time and having to wash plates and cups in the bathroom sink. Generally there is everything you need toaster, microwave, kettle etc for making yourself breakfast or snacks but not for full scale self catering. N.B. previous reviews made reference to laterooms offering complimentary breakfast which the hotel does not honour and this is still the case. We asked the reception staff to follow this up with laterooms but they never got back to us. This is a convenient spot from which to explore the island. The suites are located on a quiet back street just a two minute walk from the main promenade where you can find the ferry or buses to Valetta. The local buses go all over the island and are very cheap and there are also the open top bus' hop on hop off' tours so you don't really need a car. There are pizza/pasta type restaurants and many coffee bars locally and a good supermarket in the new shoppng centre 'The Point'. The food on site is well presented and reasonably priced but unexciting. We found excellent restaurants in the nearby Fortina Hotel and Spa open to non-residents (save your discount voucher from the ferry) and also went in their bar many evenings where they have live music and dancing 9-11 pm. Overall we had a great time and felt the Rocca was appropriate for quite an active week of sightseeing and was value for money for the price we paid.
