I'm always very dubious looking at photographs of rooms as they show only the best, generally. But the room we stayed in was excellent- spacious, very clean, modern and just what you need. Maid service every day changing towels and doing the washing up (there is no kitchen area sink), making beds and tidying round a little. Reception and bar staff are so friendly and helpful, and it is a very modern, clean hotel.
We stayed for one week in December, room only basis, and the price we paid was fantastic, considering the quality of the hotel. If you were staying room only to make it cheap, there's only a microwave and toaster so you can't cook a proper meal, but this is hardly a major flaw. There's only BBC World News in English, though, and the rest of the TV channels are in German but there is a maintenance guy who can hook up a laptop or DVD player if you bring one.

Overall it is in a great place, literally about three minutes from The Point shopping mall, and it is so so easy to get a bus along the coast, or into Valletta. I'd highly recommend this hotel, ideally placed in Sliema.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 5th floor, only the tiniest sea view but this is due to buildings built up around it. If you request they will put the beds together to make a double.

I know this is low season in the Med, but for us it was just perfect. 2 weeks at the Rocca Nettuno flew by. We appreciated the space - the living / dining area was a big room, and we had a good sized bedroom with bathroom off. Cleaners came every day and changed the bed linen and towels and even did our washing up. We felt well looked after.
We had booked room only, partly because we like eating out and partly because of previous experience of awful hotel food in Malta (not at this hotel, I hasten to add!) and it worked very well. There are plenty of food shops within a 10 minute walk, including a decent supermarket, so we bought bread, pasties, fruit, yoghurt, etc for breakfast, which we ate in our room, then we ate a late, usually substantial lunch out while sightseeing and had a snack later in the evening. It was worth taking a small chopping board and sharp knife as the kitchen ware provided is very basic. Of course you can buy meals in the hotel if you want.
The hotel is in a good position in Sliema; on a quiet road running parallel to the sea front, 5 mins to public buses (only 12 euros for a week's ticket), ferry to Valletta, open top buses and harbour cruises, but it does mean that there's only a back street view of other buildings and it is a bit dark. You don't get the ambience of a 4* resort hotel, and it's not quite geared up for self-catering, but it was amazing value in December and we'd love to stay here again.

Great manager, very helpful and friendly stuff in every aspect. The room I got was quiet, well appointed, clean, spacious, air-conditioned and included satellite LCD TV, kettle, free fast speed Wi-Fi, private balcony and had an excellent bathroom. It is also ideally located near to Sliema centre shopping areas and malls. Definitely the best value hotel in Sliema and I strongly recomend it without hesitation.

Stayed in the Rocca Nettuno for eight days and have to say was very pleased. If you plan to book and want anything just ask for Elaine and she will look after you big time...an amazing and beautiful person. The hotel is spotless and beds changed every day and rooms cleaned with a smile. The hotel is right in the centre of Selima where all the shops and bars are very near. I suppose the judge of any hotel is would I go back...and yes I would any day. Alnn

Room Tip: Ask for Elaine and she will look after you.

The suites consist of a large lounge / diner a good sized bedroom and bathroom.
The dining area has a Welsh dresser containing cutlery, a toaster, a microwave, a kettle with a large fridge / freezer to one side. There is not hot plate / cooker nor sink all washing up in the bathroom or via room service. These suits are not self catering.

Food is available on the ground floor sort of bistro style. Numerous cafes are a short walk away - left out of the hotel, left again down onto the sea front. Immediately on your left is I'll Galeone and further along on your right I'll Merilll signed on the wall of St. Vincent Street. In our opinion both good restaurants, I'll Merill having a particularly good atmosphere.

There is no outlook from the Rocca Nettuno Suites just buildings. The ferry and bus stops - outside and opposite M&S are a few minutes away. The staff were in the main helpful and a leak in the bathroom soon dealt with. As previously mentioned by others noise could be a problem the building is of typical 'concrete' ? construction with tiled floors so noise - cleaning / moving beds etc is easily transmitted. We were lucky and slept well.

Note in our opinion not suitable for disabled as the road leading up steep, the pavement non existent in parts and the traffic sometimes 'solid'.

Malta can be a bit hectic at times. The 'seasides' are more akin to English style with Italian influence - pizza & pasta abound.

A good weeks break from 'commercial' Christmas - religion is still associated with Christmas in Malta.

Room Tip: Not a lot to choose possibly higher up would be an advantage - unless the lift breaks down !
