ROOMS: looked as though it had not been hoovered in months, broken & torn furniture.

SPA: Poor availability & poor quality of deep tissue massage, felt more like deep bone massage.

SERVICE: Generally unhelpful staff with one waiter saying they did not do Ice coffee and we had been drinking them for 2 days. Would of appreciated a smile and a limitless more courteous.

On a plus point the quality of the food in the Chinese & Japanese restaurants was amazing.
To think they thought refurbishing the fitness centre at peak season was a good idea!!!
Would not recommend this hotel and will not be re-visiting.

Me and my family stayed at the hotel for 1 week and we had a room view over the garden pool area. The pool was really good and my kids just wanted to stay at this pool. There was three other pools at the hotel and two of them were on the seaside of the hotel. The Garden pool was calm and you could not hear any noise from the harbour or the traffic on the front of the hotel.
The Breakfast was very good.
Included in the room we had one harbour cruise and one kind of spa activity in salt water, this shall be good for the lungs (that's what they say anyway), for the salt water excercise you had to be 18 years old, but our oldest sun that was close to 17 could join anyway.
The rooms was clean and ok.
The hotel is very close to a big shopping mall, just go to the left when leaving the hotel and cross the bridge.
To the right a few hundred meters there is plenty of restaurants to choose.
I can also recommend mr cocktailvan between the hotel and the harbour/restaurants were most of the boats leave from.

Room Tip: I would say the Garden room is to prefer, we had a room towards the seaside one night and the view w...

My wife and I spent four nights at the Hotel Fortina and were realy impressed by the place. The setting by the water looking over to the city of Valletta was lovely. Local bars and cafes serve consistently good and well-priced food. The hotel itself has six or seven restaurants...we ate in the Indian one and had the best Indian meal we have had.
The garden bar is very relaxing, with and island bar in the pool.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room and you may well get one overlooking the gardens. The ones to the front must ha...

Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife. Taxi ride is about 30 minutes – the airport authorities has a strangle hold on the taxi’s using the facilities. Our taxi driver said that he has to pay an annual fee to pick up / drop off and the cost of the fare €20, was dictated by the Airport of which they take a cut.
If you have the time and opportunity, make use of the Maltese buses, €1.50 for unlimited travel over the island – a great way to get to know a bit more about the real Malta.
We used the Hotel as really a base, opting for the Room only option but did eat in the Restaurant our first night, arriving at 21:45pm – food was ok, but a bit expensive compared to what you get “outside”
The hotel is in a good location with great views of Sliema and the harbour. The Fortina is fortunate to have its own Pool/Bar area which is a nice place to relax on free sunloungers and parasols. It does tend to busy however especially at the weekends when the numbers are swelled with paying non-guests.
I agree with earlier comments on possible improvements. The lifts are terribly slow & cramped however there are 2 of them plus a service lift you can use if pushed. (We were just down the corridor from the lift but in clear earshot of the lift loudspeaker; we would hear the ping and “4th Floor” being announced for most of the night)
We had a sea view room with a tiny balcony big enough for 2 chairs and a small footstool, the bathroom was small and got quite humid due to poor ventilation. There was no fridge in the room which in the summer heat would have been a great asset. The bed was big but much too soft for our liking
The staff were ok – no complaints

Good weeks holiday in July.Room 518 suited us fine, spacious and on the garden side.tiles rather carpet in the bedroom area would have been better.Bathroom large, clean with some toiletries supplied.Ate mainly in the buffet restaurant, breakfast ample but if you were unfortunate you would find the hot food unappetising. At dinner at times the plates were dangerously hot. Some variety but very similar night to night, desserts disappointing and the absence of lots of fresh fruit was a minus.Pool area and bars fine,no entertainment on med side so little encouragement to sit out into the late evening.Staff usually very helpful but with varying degrees of English. Not a hotel for a family with young children.

Room Tip: Garden rooms appear to bigger, but the higher you are the better

Yes some parts are a bit tired but they are working on it. We had half board dine around ,only one night we couldn't get booked but still could have used the buffet if we had chosen. Don't be put off by some of the saddo's that will always find something to moan about. The staff all seemed good to me especially the 'maid' and the waiter/waitresses in ONE restaurant. Pools are good although the ouside one facing the sea is a bit salty.
As regards the time share salesman ,just say NO ,get your free tickets for the harbour trip 1st.
Lifts are OK this is not The Shard !
Great views of Valletta and ferry is just down the road Loads within easy walking distance and buses are reliable and cheap.

Room Tip: Go for a high room we were on Floor 7
