We called in for drinks before a show in the theatre nearby. The bar snack menu looked basic so no food ordered.we chose two bottles of wine from a limited wine list. Both wine choices were not in stock.Barman not helpful atall and quiet rude really! Menu holder was dated and tatty NOT what you'd expect from the image the name conjures up!

We had a lovely time in Malta over the Easter break, staying at The Diplomat Hotel which is perfectly located on the sea front in Sliema, accessible to the many well known popular shops . The tree lined promenade looking out over the sea with cafes and restaurants is ideal for walking, jogging or simply people watching. St Julien is a ten minute walk to the west along the promenade and the ferry to Valetta is ten minutes walk in the opposite direction from the hotel.
The room was well equipped spacious room with direct frontal sea views. We were welcomed with a bowl of fresh fruits with luscious locally grown strawberries, as well as a bottle of locally produced Chardonnay, La Torre, from the Marsovin Vineyards. When booking this hotel do include breakfast in your booking, which is excellent value with a buffet of hot cooked food, as well as a selection of cold meats. The locally sourced tomatoes were particularly good, full of flavour.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming with helpful tips and directions for planning your trips. The cafe bar on the ground floor overlooking the promenade is perfect for a drink pre and post trips round Malta.

The only difficulty we had was with the wifi reception.

Room Tip: Definitely book a room with direct front panoramic sea views of the Mediterranean.

We stayed there for 3 days. the rooms was not anything fancy but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. It was a good stay for the price we paid for. The partial sea view doesn't mean any thing but does have a balcony (facing another hotel). The traffic in sliema and st. julian could get crazily congested. Give extra time for going anywhere that is time critical.

As a retired Hotel Manager I consider the Dipolmat a well run hotel with efficient staff. My room was quiet and comfortable with large bathroom, good WiFi connection. Breakfast wide choice. Excellent posoition on Sliema seafront promenade with frequent bus services and stops close to hotel. The 7 day bus ticket is great value at €12 and easy for travelling around the island, timetables/maps and tickets from the bus office on The Strand seafront. Will look forward to staying again.
