I have been staying at the Soleado twice now. It is a small place situated very central in Sliema. As you can see on the first picture, it is very close to the beach. Also the bus station is just down the road and if you like walking, it is even possible to walk back after a night out in St. Julian's. The owner is very helpful and friendly - he supplied a hairdrier, beach matt, beach towel and internet (not very fast, but it works). The rooms are very basic (but most of the day is spent outside anyway, so why would you need more). There is all you need: a fridge, a desk, the beds are good and the bathrooms are small but it works. Don't expect luxury for that price anyway. The rooms are cleaned every day and if you have a complaint, the owner will take care of it right away.
When you travel on your own, you'll always have someone to talk to, if you like, since Joe (the owner) is very friendly and likes to discuss many things. If you don't feel like talking, you can have your peace also. The Soleado is a small place where you can feel at home, if you are not looking for luxury. The staff in general is very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stays there.
