“High above expectations”
Reviewed 23 March 2013

I spent two nights in the Preluna and I was impressed. The hotel is large, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. The public areas of the hotel are a little bit dark.

I had a sea view room in the towers, it was freshly refurbished and felt very expensive. I would not expect these standards even for higher rates.

The breakfast was excellent both times. I had dinner once, and once again, it was high above my expectations.

The hotel is a very good value for money. I have been to some other hotels in Malta but the Preluna did the greatest impression so far.

Room Tip: Go for the towers.

Great Hotel. Really friendly staff and attentive management. You could see them walking around very smart guys. The location is very central and close to all amenities. The food is delicious. The beach is just in front of the hotel door. No need to hire a car as the bus goes every 10min and stops right in front the hotel. Really great.

Room Tip: Great sea view rooms

Not too expensive, but excellent facilities. Was really impressed by the level of cleanliness, especially in the bathrooms.

Both breakfast and dinner were amazing, in terms of food, quality and also service.
To top it all up, the view from the upper level restaurant is superb, especially during the summer BBQs.

Would recommend the ground floor Sakura for an afternoon snack and coffee, the staff down there really know how to make you feel at home.

Definitely worth the cost, and another visit.
Strongly recommended!

We stayed here for a week with friends. The trip to Malta was a mixed bag but we could not find much to criticise in the hotel.
We had selected sea view rooms. Our room was larger than our friends' room and also not immediately next to the lifts but we were all quite happy with what we got. The balconies overlooked the seafront and got full sun first thing in the morning. The bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water, although it needed to run a bit first.
Our stay was all inclusive: the range of included drinks was limited to "local" drinks for which read basic house wine and weaker versions of known drinks. Nevertheless we felt it was a good deal financially for us. The food was very good. breakfast offered the standard choices. Lunch and dinner were 3 courses (except Sunday lunch which was a 4 course special). At each meal there was soup and or selection of cold items to start . The main course had fish, meat and vegetarian choices. Several cold deserts were available each time with fruit and ice cream too. A couple of days there was a hot pudding on offer- bread and butter pudding and apple crumble.
One night we splashed out and ate at the Mareluna restaurant which is in- but not part of- the hotel. we had a 10% discount and felt the added expense was wothwhile.
The bars and lounges were comfortable and there was some form of entertainment each evening. Unsurprisingly many of the guests were retired: often staying for several weeks.
The main niggle during our stay-apart from the weather for which the Preluna could not be held responsible- was that one of the 2 lifts was being replaced. The single remaining left made getting to our 5th floor room and the 13th floor Skylounge rathe tedious and slow.
Overall we were happy with the hotel. It is handy for the shops and there is a stop right outside for local and tourist buses .

have stayed in this hotel before, sea view rooms large, plenty of hot water, newly fitted bathroom, room, very clean, maid service excellent and food excellent selection. staff very polite and nothing is to much. Entertainment each night and busses around the island from outside.
road can be a bit noisy when balcony doors open but wonderful views of grand harbour entrance always ship movements to watch.Stayed 4 weeks and intend to do this every year to get away for the winter. Swimming pool indoors open to residence and outdoor lido open later in the year.

Room Tip: Sea views excellent, road a bit noisy at front of hotel, rear rooms less noise, but check about wind...

Spent January and February in climate better than in Glasgow.Hotel spotless and food in Triton Restuarant was of a high standard and staff could not do enough for me with chefs seeing to my special dietry requirements. Would recommend for winter break.

Only fault being charged single supplement in February.

Last minute holiday, rooms very tired and needing some TLC. Food was average, but ok. My first room was sea view but 3rd night was very windy and the doors were not sealed properly so the noise was awful after a very sleepless night; I asked to be moved. This was no problem at all; I went to look at a few rooms and picked another which was still to be cleaned, when I got back later in the day my room was ready and luggage was waiting for me there. Reception staff were lovely.
There was some work going on and as in previous reviews my first room was served by 1 lift; my other was served by 3 so much better.
