Preluna Hotel & Spa
Ranked #6 of 28 Hotels in Sliema

Just returned from my first stay in Malta and i would like to return to this hotel in the future. The location was great as we stayed in room 6402 which overlooked the sea.
The room was cleaned every day and we very satisfied with bed and decor.
The food at breakfast time was of a high standard and we never ever found that we could not get a table. The staff in all departments were very friendly and more than helpful

Room Tip: Try to stay in the Perluna Towers and pay the extra for a sea view

Our third time at this hotel, sea view room, and what a view, you could see the cruise ships going into grand harbour, our room was spotless and cleaned every day. As always at this hotel the staff are friendlyand always find the time to talk to you, so much choice of food and to a high standard, live entertainment most nights in the sky room. Thank s Preluna we will be back in November.

Room Tip: try to get a sea view room, It's worth it

We were pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel. A friend had said that she was not happy but we found no problems at all. The staff were so friendly and the food brilliant. Hotel was clean and everyone including the cleaning staff were welcoming. We are vegetarian and the chef and dining room staff were very accommodating and supplied excellent choices. We are looking forward very much to our next visit.

Room Tip: Spa not applicable to us. We had a balcony room the only drawback for us was when our neighbour deci...

We arrived for an overnight stay with work and were greeted by two of the most helpful hotel concierges i've ever met. Couldn't have been more helpful. Hotel itself is pleasant: clean, spacious, comfortable and a nice breakfast too.

We had a problem in that we booked a non smoking double with balcony and sea view. When we turned up we were in a smoking twin with inland view (basically the back of buildings). The hotel put it correct very quickly when we showed them our paperwork - not sure where the problem was (agent, hotel etc) but the hotel sorted it out. In my view the hotel was very dated (70's I think) but the real disappointment was the food in the restaurant - on the second night I said to my husband that the food had no real taste! it was all bland. The only redeeming thing was that breakfast was okay. So although we had booked half board we ate out for the rest of the week. As Malta is not too expensive to eat out this was fine for us. The pool was not open and the indoor pool had a problem with the heating so was freezing. We probably won't be going back.......

Room Tip: The Towers rooms seem to be overlooked but are probably newer.

Booked holiday, 7day, half board, via holidaysupermarket.com First rate service and price. Perhaps should have done a little more research regarding the hotel - position and facilities - but overall, very satisfied. Holiday did not get off to the best start with Easyjet/Manchester Airport Baggage Handling managing not to put my wife's case on the plane! Agent at Luqa Airport said it would arrive next day - it didn't! Easyjet don't fly to Malta from Manchester on a Wednesday. It was delivered to the hotel on Thursday lunchtime. Our allocated room was on the third floor. Bad news! The ineffectual double glazing and the noise from the road below made sleep virtually impossible. Next morning, without any fuss, reception moved us to the eighth floor - bliss! (Thank you Martin - the duty receptionist)
Yes the hotel is old -~40 years - and the furniture in our room (8112) looked a bit "tired" but the room was clean, comfortable, well equipped (tea/coffee making, fridge, hairdryer, safe and an immaculate, large bathroom. The balcony was a real sun trap for morning sun (4 days out of 7).
Public rooms were smart, clean and comfortable with more than ample seating. My wife used the indoor pool and had no complaints or adverse comments - other than perhaps a little more privacy in the changing area. Where the hotel did impress us was the staff and the food. The staff were, without exception, pleasant, polite, helpful and efficient - always smiling and eager to assist. The food in the main restaurant was served buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The choice and quality were excellent, catering for all tastes. Theme nights were good. (Note: It really annoys me when people complain about the food - if it's poor quality or badly prepared fair enough - but to say it is boring and unimaginative - what do they eat at home - aardvark fritters and lightly grilled lotus root!!). As well as the main restaurant there speciality ones - Italian and Japanese - which of course you pay for. Drink prices in the hotel are not at all scary.(CISK lager not at all bad!). Entertainment is provided every night.(Guess who won the quiz?).
Very cosmopolitan clientele which make people watching a great sport. Age range seemed to be 50/60+ish. Sounded like lots of return guests. As the weather was a bit unpredictable, it would have been nice to have an English channel or two on the TV. There is only so long you can watch Sky News International!
Other than the noise - wouldn't have a sea facing room below 5th floor - the hotel is in an excellent position. Impressive promenade just across the road, frequent bus service (1Euro 50cents gets an all day ticket), easy walk into Sliema and The Point shopping mall as well as along the coast to St Julians and beyond. The hop on/hop off buses stop just outside the hotel and other than Louie("Holiday Club" hi-jacker) no persistent sales persons. We fell for Louie's "charms" and spent an hour being told about Holiday Club at Preluna Towers next to hotel. We walked away with free tickets for the hop on/hop off worth 32 Euros - no problem!

Room Tip: If you want a balcony - aim high. 5th floor or above - up to 12. We were moved after one night to...
