This hotel is just great. I booked 2 single rooms for myself and my adult son and we were given 2 double rooms. The rooms were large and the bathroom and bedroom were very clean. We were visiting family so we didn't use the indoor pool or any of the other option that we were on offer, however we will on our next visit. I will stay here again (maybe in march) and I will be telling other family members to stay here too. Lovely hotel and happy and helpful staff.

Thank you so much and see you again soon I hope.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, We didn't hear anything outside and the beds were very comfortable and we slepted very well indeed. Tour bus is a great way to see Malta.

very sorry to be the odd one out but not wishing to be unkind this is a very good hotel worth its 4 star grade in every way except for in my humble opinion the standard of the food and in some parts of the hotel the very tired furniture and particular the very tired worn out carpets especially the hallways on my particular 6th floor which as i have walking difficulties proved a challenge to say the least.
The staff are an asset to the hotel as everyone says always smiling friendly helpful wether front of house, cleaning, or waiting, nothing is to much trouble for any of them and the way the resteraunt staff dealt with some very demanding guests was a masterclass in itself,so as stated this justifies its 4 star status,i believe that more refurbishment of rooms hallways etc is due to take place during 2014 so hopefully this will iron out the wrinkled carpets and tired worn room furniture issues,Now to the food issues Breakfast the cereals & continental section very well catered for the english breakfast oh dear no english sausages in sight bacon cooked one side only and welded together no real choice of eggs and im sorry but i have never seen an english breakfast with sweetcorn as an ingredient maybe someone english should be contacted to provide the details of a true full english breakfast,Now evening dinner again soup/salad course no problem but no carvery for the full week we spent there and same veg choice nightly with bland main courses sorry we were not impressed with the evening meal at all.The other issue and i do realise that it was christmas but the hotel seemed to be bursting with other functions that spilled over into all areas of the hotel resulting in overcrowding in most of the hotel and guests waiting for up to 15 minutes to be seated for evening service. As we go abroad every christmas Egpyt,Cyprus,Tunisia ect this was the fisrt time we had encounted this problem so is this the norm at this time of year or an exception due to overbooking? As stated we did enjoy our time there and i suppose these are minor issues but i do not think we would spend the festive season here again more possibly during the summer season is a better option for us

Room Tip: upper floors for better views

Dear pjtravellergloster72,
I would like to thank you for sharing your experience at The Victoria on Trip Advisor. Your time and contribution have been greatly appreciated.
Your comments are valuable and important for us. We are extremely disappointed to hear that your stay with us did not live up to your expectations and would like to apologise on behalf of all the team. Rest assured that as much as your praise, particularly towards the staff, has been extended to all concerned, your constructive comments will surely not be ignored.
It is good to note that the hotel has embarked on a series of major projects, hence to ensure the best quality service at all times. Earlier this year two new lifts were installed, and we just finished upgrading the AC system and redecorating The Penny Black Bar.
Other two large ongoing projects are the WiFi system which will be installed and running by the end of next month, and the total refurbishment of the Indoor Pool Facilities, which will surely enhance the area for the upcoming winter season. We are also currently ongoing a refurbishment programme to upgrade the hotel public areas and the private rooms, as you mentioned, there again with the scope of meeting and exceeding our guests' experience. We have forwarded your comments to our Food and Beverage Manager and Executive Chef for their consideration.

Once again we apologise for the inconvenience caused during your stay and hope that our commitment to continuously improve will make you change your mind to re-visit our hotel in the future.
Sincerely,
Kevin Callus

Very well organized and presented for a 3star hotel! The receptionist (a girl in her twenties with short black hair) treated us very well and the bed was very comfortable! The room was very clean and everything was in place.

This was our third visit to the Victoria and as expected a wonderful break for the New Year with the family. No request was to much for the staff and the food was top notch. The rooms are well maintained and the beds are very comfortable. Charles the restaurant manager was as always warm and welcoming and Magda on reception very efficient and helpful. This hotel is in an excellent position on the island, good sized car park if you are hiring a car to see the island and also handy for the bus routes. Great shopping near at hand and in a convenient spot for a stroll to Tower Road or Sliema/Valetta ferries.

Room Tip: we like the rooms on the even numbers side of the hotel.

"Treated like royalty?" - Maybe if your name is "Romanov" and you live in revolutionary Russia in 1917...

Ever wondered what a sardine feels like being squeezed into a tin? Have breakfast at the Victoria and find out! Management obviously feels renting out as many rooms as possible is more important than offering comfort and breathing space to their guests. The tables are squeezed so tightly that balancing your coffee to your table without spilling it on another guest's lap is a miraculous achievement indeed.

Ever wondered what the sewage system of Victorian London smelled like? Come to the Victoria on a rainy day and smell for yourself!

On the bright side: The staff is polite and friendly, the bar is nice and comfortable, and the rooms are okay - if you like "old colonial charme".
