Very friendly hotel as usual, but now the decor is a bit tired.
The room was a bit smelly due to fumes from the a/c unit.
Wireless internet in all rooms would be welcome.
The soft furnishing needs to be renewed.

We have used this Hotel a number of times since it was built and the time for renewal has arrived.

The Victoria Hotel is one of the nicest (of many) hotels that we have stayed in. It helped to make our holiday particularly special. The hotel is well situated for all facilities that we needed, but is also in a quiet part of Sliema (an up-market part of Malta). The hotel is well-managed with excellent reception staff who are polite, caring and knowledgable. The buffet breakfast was good (albeit lacking a little in variety) and the rooms are big, airy, clean and included a fridge and really comfortable beds (although the TV that we had in our room was tempermental). We particularly loved the wonderful Victorian-effect decor. The leisure facilities are excellent and well-maintained; the swimming pool area is clean and the gym is well-equipped with staff on duty. The hotel includes a number of restaurants on site. The Reception Hotel Manager, Charles, was exceptionally helpful; a superb manager and a mine of information on all matters Maltese. A clear 5 of 5 rating.

I hate when the use so much photoshop in all the hotel websites! :-D The pictures looked so nice and when we arrived there we couldn't reconize it! The place is aging, the rooms and their funiture were old... and very basic. I went there with a couple of friends just for few days and we found a very good deal during the low season. We enjoyed a lot. The hotel is very clean and the stuff really helpful. But don't expect luxury in the rooms, at least the one where we stayed (I'm not sure if they have a first class/business floor) The spa area was nice (we haven't tried any treatments but we enjoyed the steam and the pool in the lazy afternoons). The breakfast was just ok, not so many choices, and the location was fine (the town is little anyway so you won't walk too long).

We booked in the Victoria Hotel for 5 nights. The lobby is impressive, but from the moment we tried to check in, there was trouble. The credit card machine was not working, then the lifts were not working. The room we had was a twin room with very outdated decor. Everything in the room looked old. The bathroom was also dated, and was definitely not 4-star. The air-conditioning was very noisy and it felt damp inside the room. We booked the hotel as we got a very good deal (or so we thought) for a 4* hotel, but even then it was not very good value for money.

On the plus side, it is located in a very central location, close to many restaurants and shops. There is also a bus stop down the hill where we caught the bus to attractions all over Malta and Gozo.

I have travelled extensively during my adult years and have visited most of the European countries at least one time.

The treasure to behold iwas my first trip to Malta, circa 1996. My group stayed at The Victoria Hotel and I absolutely fell in love with all facets of the Hotel and the Island. The staff at the Hotel are so helpful, pleasant and friendly, the food is extraordinary and the rooms bright and clean.. Who would ask for more!

I have now been to Malta at least 10 times, always staying at the Victoria, and have visited many heritage sites with more sites still to be explored. What a beautiful location for a vacation.

Situated in a central location within sliema the Victoria is an ideal hotel to stay when visiting Malta. The seafront, shops and a good selection of restaurants are all within easy walking distance. The free hotel car park allows you to use your car to visit various parts of the island and not worry about trying to find a parking space when you return to the hotel. The staff are friendly, efficient and nothing is ever too much trouble. Rooms are clean and of a good size. The junior suites are to be recommended as they offer a useful seating area but are still very good value for money. The restaurants offer a varied choice and breakfast is particularly good. Overall a very good place to stay.

We stayed a week over the new year at the Victoria Hotel. The staff were friendly, Informative and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the bar was very good also. The roof terrace and pool were lovely and the indoor pool and sauna/steam rooms were first class. The hotel is up a hill but worth the walk. It is straight down to the ferry to the Old Town. Jazz fans check out Smooth Jazz Inc in St Julians.
