On arrival we got upgraded to the 5 star hotel. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The rooms are big and quiet clean. We ate at the Thai restraunt which was amazing and if you eat at any of there restraunts you get 25% of your meal which is great. We got a massage for an hour. One of the best massages I've had. Very relaxing and at a great price. Pool outside is fantastic. People complain about there being no sun. There is sun where rhe sunbaking chairs are so sit there. Not one complaint from staying here just look forward to returning and staying longer.

My girlfriend and I spent a week in Malta with this place as our base. Was a great location as we could travel by bus to all the other parts of the country we wanted to visit. Also right next to the harbour where you can take day trips by boat.

We chose half board so we could try other restaurants in Malta and not feel like we always had to be at the hotel. Our favourite restaurant included in the half board was MOMO's. Very good pasta and fresh sea food.

We had a fantastic 3 night break at the 5* Fortina Spa Resort. Quality of food and service at all of the many restaurants was brilliant. We were on the all inclusive package which we would definitely recommend - usually house wine with these kind of packages is not good but at the Fortina it was lovely!
The all inclusive package also included a cruise around the harbour (with Captain Morgan Cruises - same owner as the resort) - really interesting and worth doing.
I had a massage in the Gazebo Spa (by the poolside) - it was excellent and had we have been staying at the hotel longer I would have definitely taken advantage of the extensive treatments on offer in the main spa (the list was better than any I have seen at a spa in London).
Our 8 year old made lots of friends around the pool and our 2 year old (who has lots of food intolerances) was well catered for in all the restaurants. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff and the owner even made himself known to the guests in the bar in the evenings. The room was very spacious (ours was a garden view, family deluxe based in the 4* as we had the kids who couldn't be in one of the spa rooms). All in all we would recommend this hotel to anyone (of any age) wanting a relaxing break in the Mediterranean at a quality, 5* resort with fabulous food and a personal service.

My Husband and I have just arrived home from a AI 5* rated adult only hotel & spa in Cancun, and I have to say this did not compare to the time we spent in Malta at the Fotina spa resort in 2008. A little bit of a late review i know but we couldnt rate this hotel and its services highly enough!! When we first arrived at the hotel the reception blew us away and everyhting just carried on up from there. The staff were friendly and booked us in to a restaurant on our first day of arrival. The room was fantastic, and very comfortable. We were not able to try all the restaurants unfortunately but the ones we did try were fantastic and we can not recommend Taste Highly enough as the food was sumptuous!!! We did not use the Spa unfortunately but what we saw of it looked really relaxing. The only problem we experienced was Timeshare but this was our own fault as we had not experienced this before and we ended up wasting the first day of our holiday with these people. The pool area was gorgeous and the swim up bar was excellent, it truely was an adult only trip as there was a german dad with his 16 year old son who came from the four star part of the hotel who were told they were not allowed in the adult area, unlike our recent holiday who allow 16 year olds to stay at the resort, to us this was not an adult only resort!! The cocktail bar is lethal at the Fortina spa resort as they have a wide variety of amazing cocktails!!! The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis to a very high standard. We never visit the same place twice but we will definately make and exception for this hotel as our recent trip has made us realise that nothing compares to this hotel!!!! P.S Malta as a country itself is amazing, we were dissapointed to have missed out on so much on our weeks stay here so have decided to revisit next year!!! Who needs cancun!!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a tower room with a sea view and over looking Valleta Harbour, beautiful day and night!

My wife and I had always wanted to stay at the Fortina in Malta, so we booked into the 4 star hotel and requested a sea view room. The reception staff were very helpful and invited us to check out our room before we settled in. Perfect. Rooms can be quite small but ours was absolutely fine (in fact we were given a suite), cleaned regularly and towels changed every day. Apart from the view over Valetta the best thing about this hotel in my view is the excellent choice of different restaurants, all included in our half board stay. Fabulous food and our favourite was the Chinese. This hotel is excellently situated on the harbour, close to shopping facilities and the water taxis to Valetta. Any downside would be restricted to the lifts being quite slow and temperamental and there is little or no entertainment at the hotel This is a spa hotel offering lots of varied treatments, all reasonably priced and Thelasso pool treatments every day which are free of charge. Excellent gym facilities and wonderful outdoor pools front and rear.

Room Tip: Always go for a seaview room (even pay extra) and try not to be too high up as the lifts can be temp...

Just returned from a week at the 5* Fortina Spa resort Sliema. Have to say it wasn't our 1st choice of accomodation, but it was all that we could find available due to only booking 1 week before departure. Having never stayed in a 5* before we have nothing to compare it to, but it was lovely. We booked a twin room with garden view, but ended up in a double with sea view in the tower, no complaints from us though. The rooms are exactly as depicted in the Hotel's photographs and very comfortable and clean. All facilities are included in the room, but I feel they are lacking in character and charm. Not a complaint though, just an observation and personal taste. We had an amazing view of the Harbour and Valetta and the Hotel is in a superb position right on the front of Sliema's Harbour side. We found that it was difficult to get a sunbed around the Garden Pool area as people were saving them with towels at breakfast time, but we never failed to get a sunbed at any time of day at the Sea-side pool on the front of the Fortina next door. Only stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and have to say all tastes were catered for at breakfast. Seemed to be a teaspoon shortage every morning though, having to stir tea with a fork handle.
Overall a lovely experience. Not sure Im a 5* convert, but would definetly stay at the Fortina Spa resort again as the 4* get to use all the same facilities, you are just paying extra for the little extra's in the rooms at the 5* and Im sure we could manage without them.

Room Tip: There are garden view rooms in a block at the back of the hotel that is only around 3-4 stories high...
