The Plaza & Plaza Regency Hotels

I previously stayed in July 2013 and we decided to return and give it the Plaza Regency another try. We did have issues last year but the manager had given assurances a major refurb was underway and if we returned it would be to a better hotel. Sadly we didn't experience or see any areas refurbished. We were in a sea view suite which was on the 1st floor and very noisy. The room was functional but tired looking. Major gross out is no mattress protectors and the bed was two single mattress zipped together and really uncomfortable. The breakfast is not the best and after trying it once we decided to give it a miss even though it was included. The pool area and sun beds need a bit of tlc.

Overall this hotel offers location, location, location and I'm sure if/ when they do get the rest refurbished will be great.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Malta , where I lived as a child . We stayed at the Plaza Regency hotel and were delighted to have been allocated one of the new rooms , which was beautiful , spacious and had a balcony overlooking Exiles Bay in Sliema . The view was stunning and it was one of the highlights of our holiday to sit at night watching the sunset . I would recommend asking for a room in the Regency side , which has the newly refurbished rooms . The food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner and the restaurant manager , John Camilleri , is professional , courteous and charming . The staff worked very hard and I feel that Betty , our maid , Mary in the restaurant , Nadine Borg in Reception and John Camilleri were outstanding in their efforts . The only complaint I have is regarding the indoor pool , where our young son cut his foot on loose mosaic tiles on the bottom . We aprised the manager of this and hope that remedial action will be taken urgently . I know the Plaza/Plaza Regency have had some lukewarm reviews , but we had a fantastic holiday and I would definitely return .

Room Tip: Request room with balcony [ sea view ] on Regency side , as you may be allocated a room in either th...

Just 4 days in MALTA and Paza Regency...wish to stay longer there. I had a great new refurbished 419 room with balcony / lovely sea view. Paid for regular room - All this for 24 £ including half board. Exellent value. Who can beat that? That deal i got on Travelrepublic plus airport transfer for 3£ return (yes 3 £)
Rooms are beautifly done, fresh, comfortable. Nice and modern bathroom.
Hotel has a great location..close to St. Julian..nice restaurants around, buses 12,13 to Vallertta, 222 to ferry going to Gozo. Airport bus right there. Airpot is just 20 - 254 min away. What else you want? Because hotel is recently under refurbishment, ask for rooms on 4th floor and above and you will get a nice one.
Reception staff is very friendly and informative. Food is basic, but tasty. I got you full english for breakfast with plenty of tea, coffee. You got a nice choice of meats, pasta and puddings for a dinner. You can get at the reception very good value voucher for dinner including glass of vine or beer just for 9 euro.
Internet is a little bit expenisve, BUT IF YOU GO OUTSIDE, in front of the Plaza is a small park there. By the fountais you get a FREE Wi FI there all the time.

No worries about noise.I am light light sleeper..and no complains, no noise from pizza restaurant under at all as it was posted in some previous reviews.

My adbive, GO AND STAY THERE...just ask for a hight floor, refurbished room - and enjoy !!

Room Tip: Plaza regency..rooms from 4th floor up. Loved room 419

The Plaza Regency , the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the towels were changed daily, the breakfast and dinner buffets were varied and with plenty of choice. The sea front location was spot on and best of all was the breakfast entertainment! Well not exactly, but watching the antics at breakfast became one of the high lights of our stay. We have often in the past seen people sneak food out from breakfast and have always felt a bit sorry for them, it can't be much fun being on holiday and unable to afford a bite to eat at lunch time. However, the guests here were something else! Maybe we had stumbled upon a breakfast bar burglars convention! Or some kind of competition? They would come in fully tooled up, those huge bags a dead give away, do they think that no one will notice a bag as big as a potato sack at the breakfast table? The Italian's, ever stylish, have those bottomless designer ones. The German's, they have his and hers bumbag's and the Brits anything from a small rucksack to an M&S bag for life! If there was an award for the most entertaining burglar, it would have been a close thing. We sat open mouthed as one woman having already stashed her lunch, opened her bag just enough to reveal a thermos flask which she proceeded to fill with cups of coffee from the machine! There was also the man with no bag who still managed to stuff several slices of ham and cheese, wrapped in a flimsy napkin, some boiled eggs, fruit, cake, and half a baguette (folded) into his jacket pockets! Brilliant! If the man next to you on the flight home smelt strongly of cheese and egg he could have been the one! Are these people really poor ? Or just tight fisted? I suppose either way we should still feel sorry for them, not to mention the hotel. Next time I might take a hidden camera it would go down a storm on You Tube!

Just came back after a weeks stay we were put into a sea view room in the Regency side on floor 3 the room was so bad noise from the pizza restaurant just below the room , the builders were in the hotel from 7 00 am , it was dirty, A very tired old room . We insisted on a change of room ,.We were put on floor 5 in a refurbished room, to be fair it was a lovely To get to the reception there are 2 flights of stairs you have to carry your cases up with no help from hotel The food was poor, very bland and little choice .some of the staff were nice but mostly unhelpful . Would we go to Malta again, Yes ,would we go to Sliema , Yes ,would we stay at the Plaza Regency a very big NO.
If you like noise this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: Go to the Plaza Regency side of the hotel in the new rooms floor 5 and above
