this was our third stay at the plaza hotel and again we had a fabulous room with a fabulous sea view .we had a superior room which includes tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge .
The room was cleaned every day and we received fresh towels daily. The reception staff were helpful and welcoming. Only downside to the hotel was the wifi is expensive but loads of local restaurants ans bars offer this free you only have to ask for the password. The breakfast is full English and continental .Don`t know about evening meal as ate out every night ,there are numerous places to eat nearby .Buses are cheap but can be packed . Hopefully will return to this fabulous island next year and will be staying at the plaza as it makes a great base between st julians and sliema .

Room tip: Rooms with a sea view are road facing so if you are a light sleeper may not be your best option but we didn`t ever find this a problem

The position is good, between sliema and s.julians, But the hotel is at very low standards, not clean, dirty bathroom, room with no window (a small window with the view of the adjacent building wall).
I had to call the desk twice, once for the pillows they had no cases, and the second time the bathroom had no towels. The room cleaning is badly organized and timed ! Not to mention when i was in the bathroom and two women came in to do inventory ?!?

We stayed for a week at Easter on half board and paid extra for an upgraded room. The room on the fourth floor was brilliant, clean and spacious with a good size fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a fantastic view. The restaurant served a varied selection of meals and room service was also available. Everyone took towels from their rooms to the sun terrace and these were changed daily. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the holiday so much we returned 5 weeks later for another week and had another superb room on the 4th floor of the Plaza Regency. We can only thank the manager and his team for yet another great holiday in Malta.

The location is superb, in sliema s.julian bay, maybe The best area you can stay in malta, but The hotel is under The european city standard, not so clean, poor quality breakfast, dirty water, not kind staff, good position, very good price, very big rooms. I hope to find something better if i will come back in this nice island.

I never had the cause to write reviews before - It takes a lot to annoy me but this place was something else.

Firstly, the plaza Hotel is conjoined with a building across the street called the plaza regency which was undergoing extensive building work throughout the duration of my stay. Guests werent considered as the workers started in the middle of the night making their various noises, including a crane lifting windows to the top floor then knocked off at lunchtime , due to the heat I suspect.

As well as the ongoing building works we were sited on the 5th floor underneath the restaurant &
kitchens. This was unfortunate as from around 6am daily the overly loud clatter of pots & pans being banged about filtered through to our rooms and after that there was no chance of going back to sleep, this was reported to reception but was shrugged off and no action taken.

Next thing was the 'charge for everything' policy the Hotel has. You pay upfront for all inclusive for which you get breakfast and dinner included, yet no drinks are included with the evening meal, you are forced to pay even if you only want water, no free option is available - the coffee & juice machines are disconnected which is scandalous.
Then they charge you for internet up to €30 duration dependent, optional but extortionate to get around this I went to the local mobile shop in Sliema & bought a Sim card with data for only €10 to insert into my mobile.

Food. This was complete Garbage. Breakfast was edible - its hard to mess up boxed cereal & toast, the cooked breakfast wasnt bad but was limited to sausage bacon egg & beans.
Evening meal was a 7 day menu that recycled the previous days leftovers . Soup of the day be it veg or tomato was always green coloured whilst the rude chef doled out the tiniest portion of meat on offer for the day beef and ham parcels anyone? Bernard Matthews chicken steaks? With a "NEXT" once slopped onto your plate then you had the same spicy potatos or veg options as the previous day.

Facilities. The Hotel has 2 pools, indoor and outdoor, neither are heated so it was freezing cold even with the hot sunshine, resulting in them being barely used. They won't allow you to use the room towels but expect you to pay €5 to rent their towels daily . A way around this is to buy a beach towel from the many gift shops for about €3 if you want to use the pool daily.

overall this Hotel is your typical tourist trap , out only for your cash. I have stopped in some basic motels right across the US which were basic and comfortable & even gave you a free breakfast at less than half the price of this place.

To sum up; NEVER AGAIN. After 10 nights I was glad to get home so I could get a good nights sleep.

Room tip: Avoid the 5th floor if possible as under the 6th floor restaurant & kitchens Non hotel related, a useful mini-mart a couple of streets away for groceries toiletries etc. buy a Go! Mobile sim card for €10 euros from the outlets in Malta giving 1GB mobile internet on your mobile. Buy a weekly bus ticket for €6.50 to see all the island but watch out for pickpockets and expect long queues and mad bus drivers!
