We spent a week all inclusive in August and agree not 5* at all but what it lacks in luxury more than makes up with wide variation of good food, clean room, great location and fabulous staff. The pool area was close and again good food with friendly helpful staff, would not hesitate to go back keep up the good work

Just returned from an 11 night half board holiday at the Plevna Hotel having had a super time. This is a good 3* hotel, if you are expecting 5* luxury you will be disappointed but if you want a very clean hotel with good accommodation, excellent staff and a superb location in the centre of Sliema then the Plevna is for you! It is only a few minutes walk to anywhere in Sliema (including The Point shopping centre, buses and ferries and a number of good bars). We had planned on hiring a car for a few days but the parking around the hotel is a nightmare - there isn't any! - a 7 day bus pass more than compensated. Having spent a number of holidays in large hotels in Spain we have been spoilt by restaurant buffets with huge amounts of choice and were initially a little concerned at somewhat limited offerings in the restaurant, however, we needn't have worried, we enjoyed all our meals immensely and could always find something to suit from the selection available. To be honest it is a little inconvenient not to have a swimming pool at the hotel but the very pleasant beach club was only a couple of minutes away. The bar there provides great, low cost lunches, just a shame that half-board guests have to pay extra for sunbeds. We had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor with (very small) balconies. The rooms were nicely furnished and kept extremely clean by the daily maid service. There were a large number of Italian students staying at the hotel while we were there but fortunately we did not find we were disturbed by them at all. Undoubtedly, the major plus of this hotel is the friendliness and level of service provided by the staff. Our thanks in particular to Charles and Mark who made our stay a memorable one and are both worth their weight in gold!! We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Plevna and are somewhat surprised by some of the more negative reviews - as always, you get what you pay for and over all this hotel provides excellent value for money.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor and had no Italian students near us so it was very quiet but that may have...

The staff in Plevna is absolutely amazing. There was a reservation mix-up when we arrived late at night, and the hotel was full, but the problem was solved in 10 minutes - we got rooms in a nearby 4* hotel with breakfast, the next morning were presented with a choice of staying in current hotel or moving back to Plevna (and even got a complimentary dinner as compensation). We chose Plevna and didn't regret it one bit. The rooms were nice, breakfast was good, and the staff extremely professional. Ask them for local restaurant recommendations!

we booked last minute to malta and the only hotel in sliema that could offer us 3 rooms was the plevna. the rooms were very dirty, air condition leeking black water, bathroom full of mould, and the receptionists were the most unpolite people we ever met! we felt like we were a bother to them as if they really weren´t interestd in having tourists at this hotel.the only nice people were the russian waitress and the french waiter. the woman host at the breakfast every morning was the rudest person very aggressive. this hotel should be closed down and they should teach their staff some manners. i´m still disgusted at their unpoliteness!!

Room Tip: do not choose this terrible hotel

Just stayed at Plevna for a week All-Inclusive. Although the hotel could do with a bit of maintainence it was generally a decent place. Air con. was great but balcony was a bit grubby. Room was cleaned by a polite girl every day unless we said not to. Towels were frayed and should be renewed but were clean and changed every day. Meals were lovely but breakfast bacon was a bit rubbery and cold. Packed lunch was provided when we wanted to spend a whole day out without the worry of making it back for lunch. Although drinks are available all day you have to go down the road to Beach Club to get them, inconvenient of you want to stay in your room. Vending machine in lobby had a limited choice to buy but on All- Inc. deal you shouldn't have to pay. This could be improved by opening a coffee shop/bar or allowing free access to a vending machine by issuing guests with a code. Roof terrace area is lovely but waste of space - could be improved by more lighting, drinks machine up there and maybe some activities/games tables. Surely light could be solar powered! Bar staff had to take lift 6 floors up if inconsiderate guests rang down for drinks instead of going for themselves. All-Inclusive deal ended after breakfast/lunch regardless of what time your flight left for home. We had 7 hrs between check-out and leaving for airport. Able to leave luggage till we needed to go to airport. We had a group of teenage students below us who were very noisy late at night but did quieten down when I asked them to - just be polite, don't lose your temper.
Staff were all great, especially Juan the young barman. Marianna was quite abrupt with a young waitress in front of guests rather than in private but everyone else was helpful, pleasant and polite, offering advice on where to visit, buses, etc. We don't go on holiday to spend it sitting in a hotel room criticising the facilities so this place was ideal as a base to go back to after visiting the sights of Malta. Would recommend it to anyone who is of the same frame of mind.
