Reasonable location, staff friendly and helpful, facilities OK and good levels of cleanliness.
The main disadvantage was the restaurant. The buffet is only average. For breakfast the machines that dispense coffee and tea are basic. The machine that dispense fruit juice don't see much fruit in the mix. The buffet is very slow to be replenished. In the evening it usually isn't replenished. Arriving to eat at 7.30 I found all main courses had gone all that was left was curried dishes.
We reported the TV in the room early in our weeks stay it was still not working when we left.
The lifts seem to be being repaired daily. This means a prolonged wait to go anywhere as guests are encouraged not to use the stairs. In fact we couldn't find them!

I contacted this hotel months before we went as I was concerned about the bad reviews I had seen, I was in constant communication via e mail with the General Manager, the Head Reception
and the Executive Chief all assuring me that the adverse comments were untrue, How untrue these assurances were, we stayed for 11 days, we could only eat in the restaurant twice at evening meals, but the rest of the time we were allowed to eat in the hotels Basilica restaurant at an allowance of 8.75 euro's each, between the 4 of us this amounted to 38 euro's, the hotel made out of us we never used all our allowances, the main restaurant the carvery meats were never good properly , chicken , turkey, beef and pork all running with red juices, at other hotels one can see the meats being checked for temperature and recorded, not here, no choice of sweet, they had melon slices for 11 days. my wife contracted salmonella poisoning during the last couple of days during our stay, On returning home my wife immediately attended our doctors, where she attended hospital and after test the Salmonella was confirmed, I contacted the Waterfront Hotel, Belleair Holidays , Thomsons to date every thing is quite, not even a contact from the hotel.
This hotel IS as it says on their web site a BUSINESS hotel, it is defiantly NOT a TOURIST hotel, No Ballroom or function room, no games, the smallest swimming pool you could ever imagine, either a single or duo in the reception, with a few sofas to sit on, crisps 2.50 euro's at the shops the same thing 65 cents, the only good thing about this hotel is the staff to whom we sent a thank you card to, the rooms were clean.
A true and honest opinion regarding this hotel is the restaurant wants a complete over haul of menu, the fat on the bacon at breakfast is diabolical, and a complete rethink of whether the Waterfront is going to be a Business HOTEL or a TOURIST hotel , my advice is you stay at this hotel at your own risk, us we were very disappointed, having travelled and holidayed around the world and stayed in far ,far better 3 star hotels, a 4 star hotel the Waterfront defiantly is NOT, as a rider we were contacted by a representative of the European Health Authority who told us an investigation would take place regarding this hotel.
Sorry Waterfront but I did tell you I would report on our stay, we spent nearly £5,000 for four of us to have this holiday in Malta, we much regret that now.

Overall we would recommend this hotel, we had half board & found food good with a good selection of meat ,fish & vegetarian foods.
Staff were very helpful & standards of cleanliness through out.was excellent.
Situation of hotel was good in relation to waterfront activities, except for very busy main road outside the front door.

Room Tip: We had first floor sea view room on arrival, after sleepless first night due to traffic, on request...

Just returned from The Waterfront for the 5th time. Lovely welcome as usual by the friendly staff. A real nice relaxed feel to this hotel.

Arrived about 1pm to be told our room was not quite ready, we sat in the bar and bought a drink then a few minutes later was told it was ready......not sure though if this was genuine or to get you to spend, as I noticed during the week it happened to someone else too!

Nice gesture of a free bottle of red wine in the room.

Refurbishments have started to take place since my visit last year. The reception area furniture has been upholstered and new curtains at the windows. Lovely new fluffy and very white towels in the bathroom! New Parasols around the pool area.

Breakfast has lots of choice in pleasant surroundings. Evening meal - Fab, something for everyone. We were there for a week and really enjoyed every meal. Normally a roast, fish dish, vegeterian dish or maltese dish every night. The roast is carved by the chef and you can have a much or little as you like. Shame though some guests do not make much effort to dress for dinner, a couple of guys were in shorts, but then the staff should have sent them to change.

The pool area is small and on the roof having fantastic views. This is not suitable for young children or guests wishing to participate in pool sport activities. If you like a small pool and a quiet area then this is for you! There are ample umbrellas. The Skipper bar at the pool area offers delicious baguettes, sandwiches etc.

We had a lovely room facing the bay on the 5th floor. Not noisy as a few reviewers have stated, simply close the french windows during the night and put the air con on. My only critisism is the bathrooms need refurbishing. Hairdryer is provided in the bathroom.

Large wardrobe with built in safe (you put your own code in) and lots of drawer space in room and built in fridge.

The mini bar is checked regularly, be mindful of the fact though that you could be charged for something you have not used from it. This has happened to me now twice, and although it was removed from my bill on the last day it is worth keeping a note of what/if any has been used.

The balcony is adequate but small. Two patio chairs and a small table are supplied.

Will I go back to the Waterfront..........yes! definately I will look forward to my 6th visit.

Never saw the maid all week. The room was cleaned by 12 noon, and sprayed with lovely air freshner. Very pleased.

Stayed again this year after having an enjoyable holiday last time. Clean, modern (for malta), friendly staff , good sized rooms and smallish rooftop pool with fantastic views. Great choice at breakfast as previous reviewer has stated. The one problem we encountered was the the aircon in the room broke at 10.30pm, at which point the manager came up and insisted we move to an ajacent room which was made up for us straight away, and the aircon was fixed next day.If that's not good service I don't know what is!!

Having booked the holiday last october, and seeing more good reviews than bad, i was'nt disppointed when we arrived. The lobby and bar area were very clean, Adam and a another receptionist (forgot her name) were very helpful. I had booked an front facing sea view room for my husband, my daughter and myself, the room was huge, we had two balconies and the view was lovely. My mother came with us and had the room right next door, also lovely. With regarding some comments on coat hangers, on reading brochure if you wanted more they would give u some. We had rooms on the 4th floor and to be quite honest didnt hear much road noise.

Regarding dinner time, please might sure that GENTLEMAN HAVE LONG TROUSERS or Anna will tell you to change, Anna and Marion we lovely people, regarding food, the only thing i can say about the service was that apart from the last night only one chef was serving so sometimes took a bit of time, food was beef, veal, gammon, fish pasta etc....NO CHIPS.

The rooftop swimming pool was a nice, food bar nice, had chicken fillet burger with salad and chips for 5.00 euros.

Lots of restaurants and bars along slimea and up all round, well named brand shops, right out side is Captain Morgan boat trips...very popular. If you have never been to Malta i am afraid that you missed the lovely old buses, now a new bus service is new starting from July, went to beach one day and waiting for over an hour and it turned up full, did manage to get on but spent neary an hour standing. Had a really good time and would certainly go back to the hotel.
