The staff is great and helpful. Breakfast is very good!
The view from the rooms with balconies toward the seaside are just super! Easy to get to the busses and boats.
Negative: the internet was not that good and the TV on the room was from the 80's.

Room Tip: We got room no 309, it was great!

My wife & I stayed here for a week in June. From email questions I sent before going to checking out on the last day nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were
friendly & helpfull. We had room 504 which was a side sea view room towards the front of the hotel with great views from the balcony, the room was clean & comfortable & cleaned each day although on two occasions dirty towels were not replaced although the first time this was remedied after a call to reception, ghetto second time they never turned up but as this was our last evening we didn't bother asking again. The breakfast selection was very good, something for any taste. We ate at the star cafe a couple of times & the food was good but one evening our order was taken after 40 minutes waiting the waiter came to apologise that our order had not gone through to the kitchen, asked if we would like more drinks while waiting which we did. The food eventually arrived which was nice but not worth the wait or the price. On receiving the bill we were charged for the second drinks which I thought would have been complimentary given that we waited over an hour for our meals.
Overall a very nice hotel & would definitely recommend.

Dear Guest,

Thank you. Your kind comments are appreciated and will be passed on. It is refreshing to receive positive comments. Often tiny complaints make more noise than the constant good work that goes on a daily basis…and positive comments help to put things into perspective

I do however apologise for the mishap during your dinner and we hope that we are able to rectify this issue when we will have the pleasure of hosting you again at our hotel

Please do contact me personally should you ever require any assistance when planning your next visit to our hotel

We have recently returned from a fantastic 2 weeks staying at the Waterfront, all the staff are very friendly yet truly professional. We have stayed at this hotel before and have noted each time the added items to make our holidays extra special, this year they have included tea and coffee facilities in the bedrooms which has been lovely enabling us to have a coffee when we want, one not many hotels in Malta offer this service without charging we did appreciate. We asked for different pillows as we have neck problems and they were delivered right away without any problem by the staff.
We will be staying again at the Waterfront when we visit Malta as we have stayed at others in Sliema but not one comes near the Waterfront Hotel for location, very easy to get anywhere on the island, staff who all treat you as someone special and also great value for money.

Room Tip: The seaview rooms are well worth the extra charge

I have stayed at this hotel twice now and things have not improved.
The lifts in the hotel are very slow and since there is not easy access to stairs, the journey down one floor to the restaurant could take 10 minutes at peak time.
My tariff was B&B but I must comment that the breakfast fare was not up to other 4 star Maltese hotels. There was a poor choice of hot items and no choice of pastries at all.
I always thought that Malta was famous for its breakfast pastries but somebody has forgotten to tell the Waterfront Hotel Chef.
Come on Waterfront...your location is superb, but your service is not!
One last thing, the WiFi is slow and you have to reset it every time you move from one area in the hotel to another.

I stayed there for 5 days for a wedding and everything about this hotel is good. Great restaurants & bars just outside. All the staff are very good & helpful. There is a nice breakfast with plenty of choice every morning. The pool is on the rooftop and very small but a very quite spot to chill out for a couple of hours if that's what you want. If I were going back to Malta I would stay in this hotel again. My stay could not have been more enjoyable......

We have just returned from our week long stay at the Waterfront Hotel in Malta.

Room was great (202), clean and plenty of room, good view of the harbour from the room. Air conditioning worked great, although it could be a bit noisy if you opened the patio doors. We had a couple of gripes with the bathroom, but we mentioned it to the reception and it was sorted straight away.

We were booked in for bed & breakfast, we were slightly disappointed with the breakfast. We felt that there should have been more variety and the food presented better (it was the same food everyday).

We had some meals in the Basilico restaurant, which were fabulous. Very tasty and the staff were welcoming and very attentive.

We went to the pool area which was on the top floor. It was smaller than I imagined, and it could have been a problem if more people wanted to sun bath.

Overall the hotel was great, staff friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the Waterfront for two weeks in May on a B&B basis. The hotel was very good and in the main lived up to its 4 star billing, but the breakfast was disappointing.
We had booked a high room with side view and were very pleased to receive a free upgrade to a front view room (Room 611), which also had a side window. The view across to Valetta was great and we could see up and down the Strand and out to sea in the distance.
The location of the hotel is superb and very handy for buses, ferries and shops. Being on the Strand it is located on the main promenade and dual carriageway thoroughfare through Sliema. Consequently if you sit on your balcony or leave the windows open, you can expect traffic noise, but it is no worse than any other city in rush hour and if you want the spectacular view and to be able to soak up the atmosphere, I think it is well worth putting up with.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and always happy to pass the time of day. The hotel was immaculately clean and our room was done top to bottom every day, including dusting the balcony! The room was well equipped, (chairs, table and balcony furniture, mini-bar with plenty of room to store our own bottles and a full size kettle with tea and coffee) but a bit faded at the edges, with varnish wearing off in the bathroom and a broken pedal bin lid. The shower hose looked like 1960s plastic tube, but worked very well, with lashings of hot water and good pressure. Towel change- over was a bit hit and miss with, on 4 occasions, replacement towels not being provided until much later in the day. Some of the towels and bedding had seen better days with the occasional hole being visible, but they were fresh and clean.

As for the breakfast, it is served in a room overlooking the harbour and Valetta, which is a great way to start the day, especially if you want to watch the yachties have their boats lifted in or out of the water in the boatyard – it must be difficult to berth a boat onto a cradle, given the number of goes some of them were having!

There was plenty of choice for breakfast, but the quality was average and inconsistent.

Fruit juice was self-service from a vending machine and was poor. It would separate into gloop at the bottom and clear at the top. Freshly squeezed orange was on sale, but at 2 Euros a glass no one seemed to be buying it. Ironically there was a bowl of fresh fruit which contained oranges (so you could squeeze your own), kiwi fruit and apples, but not every day and the quality was variable. The fresh fruit salad was also variable in quality (predominantly apple, melon and grapes – sometimes whole, sometimes cut, sometimes with pips sometimes without. Slices of melon and grapefruit were also available. Given that we were in a Mediterranean climate, I would have hoped there would have been an abundance of top quality fresh fruit.

There was the usual selection of continental meats and cheeses and breads, with the ubiquitous toaster. There was usually a selection of small sized cakes, pastries and croissants, but they weren’t all available every day.

The hot buffet consisted of fried eggs (to order), sometimes scrambled egg, sometimes omelettes, baked beans and tomatoes There was a choice of sausages, (pork and chicken) but it was a good job they were labelled. Bacon was either crispy, not crispy, smoked or not but until you ate it you didn’t know. When it was good it was very good……………….

Tea and coffee was also vending machine stuff. For tea it was better to use the hot water option and pick up a tea bag, but the water was nowhere near hot enough. The coffee was typical vending coffee - tasteless and not hot enough. Late in the holiday I did notice a lady had the initiative to request a tea pot and boiling water. It would be so much better if the hotel served tea and coffee in pots.

We ate in the Basilico restaurant twice. The first time because we had arrived at the hotel late in the evening and the room brochure stated it stays open late. The food was good, reasonably priced, with generous portions and excellent service, but once there were only a few diners remaining, the staff commenced setting up the restaurant for the Sunday lunches. There was much moving of tables and cutlery setting which spoilt the dining atmosphere. As this room isn’t used for breakfast, I don’t know why the setting up can’t be done before lunch the next day. The food on our second visit was as good and the restaurant was packed with locals and residents, so it must be a popular choice.

So apart from some of the breakfasts we really enjoyed the hotel. Its location (and the roof top terrace), cleanliness and friendliness of the staff make it an enjoyable place to stay. Having seen the outlook of other hotels in this area that aren’t on the Strand and comparing prices to other nearby front line hotels, I would chose the Waterfront again.

Room Tip: High room at the front (Room 611)
