This hotel is definatly not a 4 star. I have read some of the reviews and I am surprised that they stayed at the same hotel.. More like a badly run old folks home. Lifts constantly breaking down with people inside. Food absolutley awful. We actually took one mouthful one night and walked out. The "older" waitress in the restaraunt was very nice, but the others had no idea, took ages to reset a table with a few knives and forks as she did not know where they went and handled them on the part you ate with!!. As for the bar staff, if you wanted a drink in the bar in the evening you had to wait for the barmaid to finish dancing with the guests or to get up from where she was sitting with guests drinking!! We did wonder whose holiday it was, the guests or staff!!
Beds really uncomfortable. Showers over bath poured water all over the floor. Guests who had water coming through tiles on floor and toilets not working were told they would have to wait a few days to get them fixed, but in the meantime they could come down and use the toilet in the bar area. Not ideal in the middle of the night, escpecially if you were above 1st floor and needed to use the lift which kept breaking down. Most of the guests were 65 plus so not ideal for them. Most were there becasue they lived on caravan sites and had to leave for 3 months, as they had been there for a while they did think they owned the place!
The pool and jacuzzi were not clean there was green scum marks around them, they did not clean them just kept putting more clorine in.
On the plus side we found a lovely cafe/bar on the front by St Julians. Bar 516. Food excellent and very reasonable, the young guy who served us was very friendly. A trip to Gozo is a must. What a lovely island.
The maltese are very nice people and I would recommend a holday there but be very careful which hotel you choose.
