Bayview Hotel & Apartments

We booked a one bedroom apartment which was located uphill in a narrow steet away from the hotel and seafront. It took 7-10 mins which may prove difficult if your carrying excess weight. The apartment was spacious and clean but really tired looking and in need of new furniture. It suited our purpose as a base and considering what we had paid, it was value for money.
We used the hotel swimming pool on two occasions which had amazing views across the bay, but other than that did not bother with their facilities.
The only bad eating experience was in the Chinese restuarant next to the hotel where the food and service was so poor some people left after wating too long to be served. There are a number of good value restuarants just along the seafront.
We considered our stay in Malta more of an extended "City Break" type holiday with plenty to see. If your looking for a beach type break you could find it will be in a more isolated part.
The best way to see the island is the hop on hop off bus.

Booked One Bedroom Apartment - we were placed in a one bedroom apartment that was a ten minute walk up a steep hill from the hotel and in the heat it was dreadful. The apartment only had air con in the bedroom and in the heat we were forced to stay in the bedroom only when using the apartment. The balcony on the apartment was a joke, it was big enough to stand on only and then turn around and walk back into the bedroom. It over looked other apartments with local residents hanging out their washing just a stone's throw across the street. The shower didn't have a hook on the wall and we had to hold it over us to show however the water flowed out the back of the shower head like a tap rather than from the head of the shower. There was a small stool/table in the bathroom which was broken and had dangerous sharp edges. The tiles were all cracked. I've attached some pictures. The hotel was just too far away in the heat to use the facilities without arriving half dead and needing a taxi back to the apartment. We had to request a move and paid extra to be moved into the hotel. The hotel is excellent. Be early for breakfast as the room fills up fast and as a result we never got to have breakfast in the hotel. The lifts are painfully slow. The pool is in need of a clean as it's soaking in sun cream and oils and the surrounds are cracked quite badly but it does the job when you need to cool down, and the views are fab from the pool area. If I were going to Malta again I would book a room in the hotel but only thanks to the help from Sharon and Dragona at Reception, the night staff on the reception desk were the most ignorant and unhelpful staff I have ever ever come across in my whole life. I hope they learn some manners from their colleagues. Just be careful, book the hotel, not the apartments.

Room Tip: pick a hotel room only, steer clear of apartments they're just too far away

I had mixed feelings and apprehensions on booking this, specially since i had booked a studio in the other building. but when we walked in i was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and spaciousness of our studio. everything ws very fine, except the beds! Ouch... tooo soft ! I ended up in a neck sprain. but well i think this is very personal. the internet was excellent and yes ! dont miss the massage. i loved it !

Great hotel. Our apartment over looked Sliema Creek with a fantastic view of Valletta. The swimming pool on top of the hotel was a great place to lounge around and sunbathe, the pool is not big but ideal for a few shorts lengths and to cool down. Pool bar was ideal for when you needed to cool down.
Our apartment had two bedrooms, one of which was ensuite and a bathroom, a great sized living room with a well kitted out kitchen. We had a balcony to the front great for relaxing in the evenings before heading out and we also had a small terrace to the back. Room was cleaned everyday and had amble hot water and washing machine. There was free onstreet parking right outside the hotel, handy for the hire car. Would definately return to this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a luxury 2 bed apartment with seaview. The seaview made this hotel.

We've just got back from our first malta trip having stayed at the Bayview hotel on a half board basis. This hotel is listed as a 3 star and we were expecting a reasonable standard for the money we paid as a package.

It has a good situation, being opposite the main harbour with plenty of activity and the focal point for most of the trips around the island.

We were allocated a room with a view of a rear street - no 'bay view' for us. The room was a little dirty and of a very basic standard. We didn't get a remote control for the TV we had to leave a refundable deposit for this very basic item, and also for a hair drier. Presumably this was to prevent us walking away with them!

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. However the food in the hotel was awful and unappetising, with even simple dishes like chicken being ruined by overcooking. Very little choices and the menu seemed to be repeated every couple of days. We did notice that on some evenings not many people seemed to use the restaurant, maybe they knew something that we didn't! So we decided to eat out for about half of our stay there.

The restaurant area had the feel of a canteen, bare tables, paper napkins and a generally rushed feeling about it. On some evenings, as the dinner service time was approaching, the service staff would gather some of the food from the servery and lay it out on a table for their own meal - maybe this was a signal for the paying guests to leave? It felt that way.

Being co-joined to the apartment complex, this put hotel guests sharing common facilities with some of the younger tourists staying for just a couple of nights. I think this added to the feel of the hotel being used like a YMCA/hostel.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Location in excellent, a short walk to the town centre, lidos and water taxis.

Staff were very helpful and can't rate Dragana and Sharon on reception highly enough.

Breakfast is plentiful, but got a bit boring after a week.

Great restaurants in walking distance.

Great Family location especiually with Valletta a short trip over the harbour.

Room Tip: Ask about the 3 bedroom appartments (rm 801 - 804)

Just back from a long weekend stay at Bayview Hotel & Apartments. We were five women sharing a two bed room apartment. We had an apartment with a fantastic view over the Sliema bay. The apartment was very nice and spacious. One of us slept in an extra bed, which was perfectly fine. The pool area on top of the hotel building was nice and of course had a beautiful view. The location turned out to be just perfect for our needs. Just a nice walk along the waterline to get to great shopping and nice restaurants. The hotel staff was very friendly and service minded. We payed a very good price for our apartment and it was well worth the value. We ended up eating breakfast at the hotel, and for this we payed 5 euro/day. If I got back to Malta (which I'm hoping I will) I would certainly stay at Bayview again!!!

Room Tip: Apartm. with seaview is well worth the extra money
