“A magnificent hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2012

Last Dec my husband and i returned to the Palace hotel to celebrate our First wedding anniversary. In fact we had been married in the Capua dec2010. We love this hotel Everything is of an exceptionally high standard from the professionalism of all the staff to the wonderfullly comfortable rooms, with magnificent views over the bay to the city of Valletta .Breakfast is magnificent with a wonderful selection of foods and it really is nice to have your tea and coffee served to you by friendly staff. We can not praise this hotel high enough. It has a lovely quiet location and is just a few minutes walk to the ferry crosing and the bus stop not to mention numerous restaurants. If you are thinking about getting married abroad then consider this a location. We held our wedding ceremony in the Capua in Dec 2010 and it was truely beautiful. We didn't even need to organise a wedding planner as the events manager in the hotel was absolutely marvellous. We have no hesitations at all in recomending this hotel and we look forward to returning there to celebrate many more happy wedding anniversaries.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the front of the hotel. It has wonderful views over the bay

We arrived for our 3rd stay at The Palace. As previously the service, the accommodation and food was of excellent standard. Really a Place you all have to stay at if you ever visit Malta.

Not only is the Hotel a 5 Star but so central to everything. If you have to catch a taxi anywhere their taxi service is at your tips in the hotel lobby.

Room Tip: Worth the money staying in a Suite

We spent a week in "The Palace" in October 2011. The hotel is definitely not 5 stars, 3 stars would be more fair. The overall condition is poor, and especially the "spa" area (indoor pool & saunas) is in urgent need of renovation, as well as the bathroom of our room. We paid extra for a superior room, but when checking in, we got an "upgrade" to a deluxe room. After some debate they found out that we had really paid for a superior room. At this point the manager simply commented that it's basically no different from deluxe, only slightly larger... and it really wasn't worth the extra euros! Bathroom was, as said, quite awful, and the balcony was useless due to being in shadow 24/7.

The breakfast, however, was a positive experience, and actually worth the money spent (they had some discount price when purchasing 3 breakfast tickets at once). Also the huge bed was very comfortable. The roof top pool area was nice, but there was no bar / restaurant service available. All orders needed to be done at the lobby bar.

Pensioners on honeymoon, we were treated well, with an upgraded room. We were on an upper floor and had a lovely sea view. Breakfast was buffet style and suffered a little because of this. Omlettes and eggs benedict for example do not keep well in a heated tray. But there was a wide and varied menu and the heated trays were kept well stocked. We had dinner here only once and after that, we went out to dine. The hotel is up a hill from the coast road, the town, harbour and the bus stop so this walk may not suit all guests. I found the small indoor pool quite chilly but my new husband took a daily swim pre breakfast. The rooftop outdoor pool was of the infinity type, but wasn't heated therefore not in use in January & February. I didn't use the Spa although it was offering a number of special deals whilst we were there. The local bus service was excellent with transport into Valletta every 10 minutes or so, and from there there was easy access anywhere in the island. And it was very cheap. We enjoyed our holiday & would be happy to stay here again

This hotel was first class. We had a superior room on the 5th floor with a good view. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff most accommodating. Breakfast offered all you could wish for from fruit juices, bucks fizz, tea and coffee through to cereals, cold meats and cheeses and the good old english breakfast choices of bacon, sausages, eggs etc.
The indoor pool and the gym were both well equipped. We certainly hope to return there soon.

Room Tip: A room on a higher floor will give you a better view.

The Palace is a clean, well run, well situated hotel. The food is good with choice of restaurants, breakfast is excellent and well managed. However the most impressive thing about this hotel is the staff - without exception they are very well turned out, polite and very helpful. This doesn't happen by accident - they are clearly well trained and well managed, something I don't see very often in hotels these days.
So they get top marks from me !

It's difficult to fault the palace hotel and for some categories value, service etc.) 5 isn't enough!

I stayed for a week in early February 2012 with my disabled mother. From the moment we arrived until our departure the staff couldn't do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble and we were upgraded to an incredible suite on arrival with a huge terrace and panoramic views.

We are still talking about our experiences and the super comfortable memory mattresses have convinced me to buy one for myself.

Our only one small complaint is that as our room aas near the restaurant on the 9th floor, we were occasionally disturbed by noise from waiters moving things about early in the morning or late at night. This wasn't however a huge problem and was simply carelessness on their behalf.

Other good points about the hotel are the excellent gym and sauna, which was well equipped for a hotel and the free parking in the hotel basement.

For anyone looking for a relaxing luxury holiday I strongly recommend them to book this hotel.

One final tip is to book through trip advisor, as breakfast is included in the price!
