We stayed here in October as a family group of 6 adults (2 in 50' age range - rest in 20's)

We had a good views over towards St Julians bay and all 3 rooms were beautifully furnished .
The Swimming pool on top floor had superb views all around including to Valetta

Great for watching the firework displays on a Saturday night.
Huge variety at Breakfast & they would also cook something to order - if they had the ingredients.

Mike

Room Tip: Rooms on 4th floor or above have sea views. Supermarket is round the corner for stocking up on Beer...

We had never been to malta, and I'm not one for touristy locations but we wanted sun and a direct flight so malta it was. We chose the palace to be a little bit away from all the madness!
Firstly on arrival the staff were so friendly and professional. That goes for all the staff at all times, everybody was lovely, you could not fault a thing.

When we arrived we were upgraded from the palace to the palazzo capua suites. This is a separate hotel as such but attached to the hotel. It is much more traditional and is italian architecture. Beautiful stone and high ceilings. So if you want modern stay in the palace. We loved the room though, was very different from anywhere we had stayed before, very romantice and great as you had more space.

The pool area is great, there was an issue of space though, as the victoria hotel, which is 4 star, gets to use the facilities too which means it is very full. I didn't like that as much. The pool has a lovely view over malta.

Definitely have some drinks upstairs and eat in the sushi bar, the food was very nice. Breakfast was good too, a lot of variety. The only criticism is perhaps the bathroom, in the capua suites they were a little outdated. In walking distance to sliema front etc and shopping.

ask the staff if you have any issues, they will sort them out for you.

All in all a great experience!

Room Tip: Capua suites for privacy.

Whilst we were more than happy staying at the Victoria Hotel last year we went with a different travel company this year and as they did not stay at the Victoria we chose its sister hotel The Palace for a week's holiday at the end of Sept. into Oct.
We were very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel: staff, food, cleanliness, position etc. We stayed half board and noticed most evenings there were few people dining in the ground floor restaurant. All staff were courteous and helpful though some waiting staff were almost too keen to remove used plates and cutlery.
We found our room to be spacious and it had a balcony. I'm not sure we would have been so happy had we been given a room without a balcony and no outfacing window in a five star hotel. We could hear the clock chiming frequently in a nearby clock tower but this did not disturb our sleep. There were no other sounds within or outside to disturb us either. We enjoyed finding various ways from the hotel to the front of Sliema.
One thing we felt lacking was evening entertainment in the hotel. Maybe a piano playing light music some evenings in the foyer area.

This is truly a 5 star property in a central location. The views from the higher floors are lovely. The modern style and amenities are everything one would expect at a Four Seasons or similar hotel.

I think the only fault people might have is that it is not on the beach (about 2 blocks away). The other issue is that it shares it's pool beautiful infinity pool and other recreation facilities with it's sister hotel The Victoria next door. I did not have a problem with this however.

Whilst there was much to praise here, there were several deficiencies too. We had booked directly with the hotel, and paid a deposit. We checked-in just before midnight, and were asked to pay the full amount, including what we had already paid! The issue was amicably, easily and quickly resolved. However, that introduction, and the discoveries the following morning that we had been allocated an inward-facing room without access to fresh air, and a “balcony” no wider than a hand-width, did not bode well. Perhaps we could have requested a change of room, but we didn’t. However, I would not have thought that such a room should be classified as the “Superior” one we booked.

Later on during our week there, we were to discover the filthy state of the pillows (on the day that housekeeping did not replace the covers), the stained cushion covers, and the lack of replacement towels for those removed. Others have already mentioned that housekeeping was usually carried out late in the afternoon.

However, on the plus side we were most impressed by the friendliness, helpfulness and warmth of Josette and her team at Prestige Cabs, the in-house taxi firm. We particularly thank Carmello, who became “our” driver.

We must also mention the Tabloid restaurant staff at breakfast, and the staff at Talk of The Town, who were also friendly, and helpful.

Superficially, the hotel appears to be worthy of its five stars. But outward appearances can be deceptive. Look deeper and there are problems here, and as others have said it is at best worthy of no more than four stars.

So, would we return? In truth, not without adequate assurances of significant improvements in some areas.

Room Tip: Avoid inward-facing rooms. Ours was 355.

I would have to agree with most of the reviews here, this hotel is one of the best I have stayed at. We had booked an apartment which turned into a nightmare due to building work taking place so booked the Palace at an internet cafe in St Julian. Our room, though only on the 3rd floor, had a pleasant outlook, although not as good as some of the upper levels. The staff were very friendly and professional throughout our stay. The location is ideal with short walks to the Slimea waterfront for ferries and buses and St Julians Bay through streets of traditional Maltese buildings and houses (as opposed to the concrete jungle that is the promenade). We were staying half board and thought the food was to a very high standard with the menus changing nightly. The only negatives were as another reviewer mentioned the restaurant lacked ambience for the evening meal, bright lighting combined with a large high ceilinged room created a dining hall feel and secondly the invasion of fruit flies on the fruit & desert table was a little off putting. Otherwise keep up the good work and I would have no problem recommending The Palace.

Room Tip: For the views go as high as you can

five stars hotel, is on a hill, but close to the center of Sliema, nice restaurant, good food, staff friendly and helpful the room was large with two beds and balcony.there is a pool on the 9-th floor which has a nice and clean water, and a bar, a beautiful view.
we had a night fly so had to do "late check out" which means that one has to pay 10 E per hour till 18.00 and later has to pay an entire day.

Room Tip: higher floor with balcony
