My wife and I love this hotel and stay here frequently when we visit family in Malta as it always makes it a lovely relaxing holiday. Our first stay was in the month it opened around seven years ago and we have enjoyed every stay since, which has been a couple of times each year. It is part of a small chain of hotels owned by a Maltese family and the management and staff are always extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful and it is encouraging to see in what, with the adjoining Victoria and Palazzo, is quite a large hotel complex just how many of the current staff have been there since it opened.
The hotel is situated at the highest point of Sliema in a quiet location away from the sea front but just a few hundred yards from the harbour on one side, the Med on the other and the shopping and restaurants in between. Rooms, particularly the suites, are quite large and in keeping with the modern and contemporary style of the hotel. All rooms on the outside of the building have balconies, many with sun loungers, and those on higher floors have great views with some looking across the harbour to Valletta, but for the best views go to the roof with the infinity pool and more relaxing sun-loungers. At the roof-top Temptasian restaurant you can also take in great views of Valletta while dining on sumptuous Asian cuisine.
Our favourite place to relax in the evening is in the quiet and comfortable bar with its efficient staff, but you can also go to the bar in the adjoining Victoria sister hotel for a different atmosphere. In the morning breakfast in the spacious ground-floor restaurant can often be taken outside in the sun on the terrace. If we have time we indulge in a treatment at the spa, although we have yet to use the well-equipped gym and indoor pool.
A recent change in the road network means that there is now very little traffic passing the hotel so making it a very pleasant experience on the balconies or when relaxing in the sun outside on the ground-level bar terrace. You are never far from a church in Malta and the Palace is close to two whose bells chime sporadically every quarter hour throughout the day and night, but they are so irregular that after a short while you don't notice them, and anyway they add to the relaxing Mediterranean atmosphere!
