Description: La Mère is tucked away past the old 'Suq Tal' Belt'. Rustic wooden tables blend with Middle Eastern décor, matching the unique theme of two great cuisines - Indian and Middle Eastern. A small, intimate dining area, and flickering candles, give a warm, homely feel. However, the tables are spaced enough that you do not feel cramped. Servers are attentive and knowledgeable on the wide choice available in the menu. Here, our desire is to present a repertoire of authentic dishes, bursting with flavour, certainly a multi-sensory experience. The menu offers a broad selection of starters, allowing you to whet your palate with a Lebanese spiced lamb sausage, or enjoy mussels and chorizo in coconut milk. Mains are similarly varied, giving you a choice of curries, or perhaps king prawns or lamb chops cooked in the tandoor. Our new menu also presents a selection of main dishes with a fusion twist, such a marinated filet of fish wrapped in banana leaf. There is also a good choice of vegetarian, vegan, lactose and gluten free options. Besides we have introduced a menu degustation, an extensive wine list, cocktails and whiskeys and a broad selection of homemade desserts such as chocolate filled samosas with mango and coconut, assorted baklava, pistachio and ricotta briouats with halva ice-cream.

We've been there a couple of times and we'll for certain go again. The food is excellent, several choices of varied cuisines, the staff are extremely helpful and polite, and the ambience is quite unique. I'd gladly eat there every weekend. Book in advance, the place is sought after and has limited seating. This is one of Valletta's best eateries, and I can confidently say that it's good value for money.

We read about La Mere on TripAdvisor and then came across it by chance one lunchtime. The restaurant is small and simply decorated with a really nice, relaxing feel about it. We had a simple meal of grilled fish and vegetables and although this took a little while to arrive because the restaurant was busy, it was well-prepared and tasted delicious. The portions were good and reasonably price and we would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to return for an evening meal but will save this for our next visit!

La Mere scores high in every way. The food is of a high standard, which is surprising given that the menu is so varied. They have an almost unique practice of pricing the wine at cost and charging corkage, rather than the more usual tripling of the cost of a bottle. The restaurant is small which means that if there is a large group it can monopolise the space which could be a bit overpowering but I don't suppose there is much you can do about that. There was a problem when we went---the chef lost my wife's order which resulted in delay. But we mark them high on that too(surprisingly) because rather than try to cover up the chef cme out and explained personally. Well done.

Made a last minute booking at 7 pm oft dinner at 9. Impeccable service, great food and very reasonably priced. Corkage is great as we brought our own chateauneuf du pape and paid less than a fiver!

Me and my boyfriend come here regularly and every time we come the service is excellent, and so is the food. I really enjoy the relaxing ambiance and the fact that they have paintings by local artists.
